Started cycling again this last year for the first time in fifteen years, I found your channel just this evening, fabulous videos ! My bikes are from 1988 and 1989, they are a Columbus SL Paganini black and white diamond fade with C Record and Croce d'Aune with Mavic Open 4CD rims and a Columbus Aelle Ciocc in PDM colours with Chorus and Athena with Mavic MA40 rims and hubs. The only thing I have changed is to fit new Look pedals as the Look cleat sizes have changed. The bike shop in Penrith nearly fell over backwards when they saw my 52-42 chain rings coupled to a 13-18 six speed block ! Loved the Vintage Young and the Dave Lloyd Bikes
Funny, I blame my chunky legs going up with a tiny block and a 52/42 chainring. Glad you’ve found cycling again. Sounds like you’ve got to two classic rides. I’ve still not done a bicycle in PDM colours yet….watch this space 🚲 thanks for watching and your support
I thought you were going to come away with that Battaglin when he said it was “ripe for restoration”! Some of those bikes belong in a museum of Northern bicycle builders! Stunning.
Yes the Battaglin is stunning isn’t it 🚲 yes his bicycle collection is something else. I’ll definitely be returning. Thanks for your supporting all the best
That was a Friday night feast for sure Andy. I can remember seeing a CADEX carbon bike in the front window of the bike shop in Settle in the 1980's, that particular shop is no longer there but what a collection ! If any of them bikes rocked up outside the cafe on a group ride they would get so much attention because they are all works of art. Thank you to yourself and Mitch for taking the time to make this video.
We talk about that Union bike in the "Alimo Benotto sub brand"' on the Retrobike forum. It's a Japanese frameset built by Maki, dutch Benotto importer Alimo also used that frame with different stickers.
Beautiful video! I could watch you both all day pulling those bikes out of storage! Each one has a story and is a piece of cycling history, well done!!
Superb range of bikes. These all need taken out of the attic and that tin can, tidied up and sold to happy customers. Thanks for taking the time to make the recording. Looking forward to seeing the Bianchi given some of your magic in the near future.

Truely stunning collection , thanks to both of you for for presenting them. Had my fingers crossed to see a late 80’s to early 90’s Faggin in the video. The Colnago was my fav of the bikes.
Amazing. There are far too many beautiful bikes to cover in 37 minutes. I wish Mitch would allow you to create a video series highlighting those special collections in depth.

Many thanks, Andy and Mitch for another awesome video! The Gitane, the Battaglin, and team System U Raleigh brought back a lot of great memories. Also, the Giant Cadex is a classic favorite for an old Yank like me. Excellent as always Andy…thanks!

I Liked the oddball Dutch Union… I just fitted the exact same classic SR Custom bars and stem to my Raleigh 125 Anniversary, plus full Tricolor 8 speed groupset hubs and grey Mavic Open Pro rims…..
Thanks for watching and sharing your favourite bike. You’ve got a nice ride yourself by the sounds of things, nice the Raleigh 125th Anniversary bike 👍🚲
WOW!!!! just finished watching this and its an amazing collection. Now, i hope you have many restorations to come Andy!. Dont forget you're the best at it out there. 👍🏼
Wow, just wow. Back to the days of the Kelloggs Start city centre crits, the Nissan Classic and the Milk Race. The days we tied our shoelaces and tightened our toestraps before we went racing. LB of sausages helmets, Isostar in our water bottles and not a care in the world.
Brilliant. Was road racing from 1969,through 1970’s. Always rode Campag Record. In 1980’s we (bike shop) did a part exchange on a Peugeot branded Carbon tubed Alan with Campag C Record....my friend had the frame and I built groupset onto a Vitus 979....lovely. Did sell the Delta brakes and get Campag Record though. Such nice stuff. Still ride Campag Record 11 speed ....but do have a 1980 Record Groupset in a box!
Thanks for watching and the support glad you like it. That Groupset in the box will be worth an arm and a leg now. Very desirable and becoming harder to come by. All the very best
Nice!!!! I have a Giant 980c that I converted to single speed. Was fun trying to find the right number of chain links to make it work with vertical drop outs. Rides really well but a flexy girl!!! The carbon aluminum bonded frames are beautiful bikes!!!
@@BikeItUK For sure fam!!! Your channel is highly underrated!!!! You do amazing work!! On another note I also bought a pristine Peugeot Triathlon last year. I've been searching for one for years!! However it's actually in too good of a condition for me. I think I'm going to sell it. The other issue is that it's red, which seem rarer, but I want the purple and white variant. Keep up the good work brotha!
Love that collection, especially the Dutch bikes bring back lots of good memories. Union used to be a big brand in the Netherlands. They mainly sold city bikes and were not a big player in the racing bike market, that was in the eighties dominated by Gazelle, Batavus and Koga Myata in The Netherlands. Problems started for Union when they decided to bypass the traditional local bike shops and sell their bikes via big stores. It was nog a great succes and as far as I can remember it was the start of numerous takeovers. It is a shame it went downhill from there. The bike you own is a true celebration of what they were capable of.
Wow, thanks for sharing your knowledge on this. Great to get a more in depth story behind the brand, much appreciated. Thanks for watching and your support all the best 👍
@@BikeItUK Except they never built racing bikes. They were built to order in Italy for their racing team and a small handful was made available to the public. They are extremely rare.
It was great to see a blast to the past. I have an 86 Eddy merckx with mavic ssc Groupo I have never seen another bike with my set up anywhere. Thanks for sharing the collection
Thank you Andy for the video and Mitch for sharing your collection. What a beautiful collection. I race in the late 70 and early 80’ and had a Gitane super pista, same decals as yours. Lots of memories. As our Swiss friend, I did not know of the British names until I lived in UK later on. I do not know if you knew of the Spanish manufacturers, Eg: Macario, Otero, Zeus, and the classics Gitane, Benotto, Colnago, Bianchi, Cilo, Peugeot (road bias) etc. Steel forever ;-) Thank you
I love the variety of this collection (raleigh production models up to semi-custom british makers and also full-custom, french, italian, taiwanese, etc.) it shows a real appreciation for the diversity of all bicycles available. I like to think that my collection comes close in diversity (american, japanese, british, italian) but I don't have any purely-french bikes, just a french interpretation (raleigh comp 1973 with huret/TA drivetrain).
Great collection, the Master piu in that colour scheme is a personal favourite. But honestly, it's a shame you have so many great bikes that are just sitting in the dark. I still live by the 'keep what you ride' philosophy, so I sold a Master, a Merckx 10th anniversary, a Pinarello Treviso, a Tommasini... I kind of regret selling each one of those, but at the other hand, I still ride a Pinarello Asolo, Daccordi Griffe and am looking for a Tommasini. Each one of them has a special place in the garage (one even in the house) so I can look at them when not riding. Don't invest in more bikes but give them a place where they can shine, and sell some to people you know will either ride them or at least give them a place where they can shine.
Thanks for your support and watching. I also let my Colnago Master Piu go, I had enjoyed that ride very much. I like to think we own nothing in this life but look after things for a while. It’s a nice thing to think that these stunning bikes can bring pleasure to many. Sounds like you have some absolute beautiful bikes yourself. Thanks for your comment all the best
Gazelle is also Dutch. And the Union were from the Italian Giana Motta frames. Initiated by Rini Wagtmans (ex-pro cyclist who was also in Molteni team with Merckx).
Something to be said about steel...timeless, pragmatic and easy to obtain without scouring the earth for rare minerals and finally, easy to recycle. That said, the bikes here, represent the epitome of steel bike construction, built out of the strongest of steels, much like Excalibur, by hand and fire with the aid of instruments and implements, each a veritable piece of art. Thank goodness the arts are being continued by various custom builders around the world.
As ever a great video. Always look forward to a new video coming out! Great to see all of these amazing bikes from generations gone by. It would be great to see a video where you and Mitch do a joint build or even a ride out on some of his bikes. Keep up the good work & already looking forward to the next video!

LOved this though made me a bit sad at the end. I had my Giant Cadex with full DA 7400 mix stolen just a few years ago from my garage in Berkhamsted. Exactly this model, was shocked when he pulled it out the container. Put a lot of love into it.

I would have loved a Rossin Ghilbi to be rolled out , classic collection to see Andy.
Yes I myself have a soft spot for a Rossin. I’m always on the look out. Watch this space, thanks for the support 👍
a few gems in here... need out in the sun!
Definitely 🚴👍 Thanks for watching
Whaouu... thancks you from Belgium 🥳
Thanks for the support 👍🚲
The customer version of the first raleigh bike from the mid 70s with centre pull brakes was my dream bike back then. Never got one lol.
Shame…hope you enjoyed the collection thanks for tuning in and watching
Many thanks for your support, new Colnago build should be live tomorrow 😉🚲👍
Wow, just wow. Back to the days of the Kelloggs Start city centre crits, the Nissan Classic and the Milk Race. The days we tied our shoelaces and tightened our toestraps before we went racing. LB of sausages helmets, Isostar in our water bottles and not a care in the world.
Nice comment, glad you enjoyed it hope it brought back some great treasured memories. All the best
OMG amazing Andy how do you top that lot, can’t wait for the video on the Bianchi brilliant m8 👌👍
Thanks buddy, me neither I’ve already started buying for the Bianchi 🚲👍
Sounds interesting, I definitely need to get one on the channel. Thanks for tuning in and watching. 👍
@@letsgetdoing thanks so much
Amazing collection Andy
Glad you enjoyed!
Would love one of those Ti raliegh frames
Yes you and me both, i still haven't managed to restore one yet. Thanks for watching and the comment
Gran video!!
Saludos Andy 🇲🇽
🙏 👍
Wow, Mercian was an absolute beaut 👍
Glad you like it, the Mercian is something else isn't. Thanks for watching and your support
It was great to see a blast to the past. I have an 86 Eddy merckx with mavic ssc Groupo I have never seen another bike with my set up anywhere. Thanks for sharing the collection
Wow, I’m still to get hold of the Mavic Groupset, and on a 86 Merckx sounds nice 👌 Thanks for watching and your support
Steel forever ;-) Thank you
Steel forever! Thanks so much for watching and sharing your personal experience it's much appreciated. Happy Cycling
very nice bike collection, thanks for sharing
Glad you enjoyed it, thanks for the support my friend
That battaglin 😍
It’s a gorgeous isn’t it 🚲 thanks for watching 👍
Great bikes I need to get the old raleigh in my shed restored now.I have welded a few lugs on Alans over the years.
Definitely, I’m sure you’ll enjoy the outcome giving it some new life and seeing the results 👍
Saludos, desde Bogotá (Colombia).
Hello and thank you 🙏
More vintage = more beautiful :)
Completely agree thanks for watching
C Record and Cobalto brakes..... stunning, probably the nicest looking groupset ever.
Completely agree with you, thanks for watching and your support
*that carbon cadex Giant is abslutley FIRE i wish i lived therer id buy it 1000%*
Yes it’s in stunning original condition, glad you liked it thanks for watching and your support
Thanks again my friend, your support is appreciated. Many more collections still to follow 👍
Wow so minty with a touch of dust.😍
Glad you like thanks for the support 👍
The 84 Raleigh TI for me 👍🏴
Nice choice 🚲👍 Thanks for watching
Beautiful Battaglin !
Glad you like it
Gazelle is also Dutch. And the Union were from the Italian Giana Motta frames. Initiated by Rini Wagtmans (ex-pro cyclist who was also in Molteni team with Merckx).
Thanks for this knowledge it’s much appreciated all the best
Something to be said about steel...timeless, pragmatic and easy to obtain without scouring the earth for rare minerals and finally, easy to recycle. That said, the bikes here, represent the epitome of steel bike construction, built out of the strongest of steels, much like Excalibur, by hand and fire with the aid of instruments and implements, each a veritable piece of art. Thank goodness the arts are being continued by various custom builders around the world.
Thanks for your supporting comment and watching. Steel is real as they say 👍🚲🌍
As ever a great video. Always look forward to a new video coming out! Great to see all of these amazing bikes from generations gone by. It would be great to see a video where you and Mitch do a joint build or even a ride out on some of his bikes. Keep up the good work & already looking forward to the next video!
Thanks pal, yes I definitely hoping to get out on the bikes with Mitch come the better weather, watch this space. I currently working on a load of restorations so plenty for videos on the way. Thanks for your support all the best
@@BikeItUK can’t wait!! Always look forward to the builds!
That Dave Lloyd really reminds me of yamaguchi frames
🤔 interesting, I’ll have to check them out. Thanks for watching
On your personal Raleigh, defiantly black handlebar tape to make the head tube color pop!!!
I’ll go with that! Thanks for watching and your support
Defo, I said "BLACK" out loud at that point in the video.
Man I thought my mineral collection took up a lot of space 😳 Very cool watching this as an old bike racer from the early 80’s myself 👍
Glad you enjoyed it, thanks for watching and your support much appreciated
LOved this though made me a bit sad at the end. I had my Giant Cadex with full DA 7400 mix stolen just a few years ago from my garage in Berkhamsted. Exactly this model, was shocked when he pulled it out the container.
Put a lot of love into it.
Glad you enjoyed it, sorry it made you sad. Better to of had than not at all. Strange all the things we’ve had in a lifetime, bin and gone. Memories are everything, all the best buddy
Your finest video to date
Thanks buddy
My two Miyatas, an 83 Pro and 84 Team both have contemporary Dura Ace handlebars with the cabling internally routed within the bars.
Yes nice really like them, definitely make sense. Thanks for watching all the best
Awesome collection of bikes I actually had a giant cadex in good condition but mine had the sti shifters was a awesome bike but sold it on 2 years ago still miss it :(
Better to of had though, I’ve still never had one. Definitely on my hit list. I miss many of the bikes that have been through the garage. I hope it brought back some fond memories pal. Thanks for tuning in and your on going support 👍
I never seen a Union racebike before.Union mostly built citybikes. Here in the Netherlands Union was a very great and wellknown brand.
Yes it’s a bit of an unusual one the union bike 🤔 thanks for watching
my dream bike was a 90s basso blue model, i had money for it then but i wanted a recumbent
The Basso is a lovely bike, have you seen the Basso restoration we did on the channel?
@@BikeItUK not sure ill have a look but i dont admire people who collect bikes when theres a shortage i think its a bit greedy i hope factories go back to making traditional bikes again and not too exspensive
