Thanks for the vid, Tac! You made a Camp 10 fanboy a happy man :). I love that blade, but I especially love the handle, and the amazing sheath too (perfect for lefties!!) If I had the money, I'd still buy the GSO10 too though.
Awesome vid, man. After beating the living hell out of a kershaw camp 10 for over a year, have to say I'd take 7 camp 10s over one gso 10 any day. Imagine I could break em with an extreme tip test, but I ain't gonna do that! Another awesome video that I saw a year late! :) Love your tests and hope you never stop.
I've been buried in the shop and just saw this video a little bit ago. Just wanted to say thanks for including us in this chop off. In the future I would be interested to see how one of my true "chopper" designs or even the revised new spec GSO-10 stacks up in a contest like this. The GSO-10 wasn't originally designed as a chopper but instead as a large "do anything" design, that is still chop-able. If we had come out on top in this, I would have been really disappointed in some of the more chopping driven designs in this video. Seeing that people like to chop with it a lot, we did re-tune the upcoming new spec GSO-10 for harder hitting strikes and deeper penetration. The handle was also redesigned for greater comfort and improved in hand retention. That really is insane on the price of the Kershaw knife and even the Schrade. But then again they are Chinese knives, made with Chinese produced steels, creating Chinese jobs, strengthening a Chinese economy, paid for with US dollars. I wish that I could be more competitive on the price but unfortunately I've got more money wrapped up in a cut GSO-10 blade blank made in CPM-3V than Kershaw is retailing their knives for. Making a 100% US produced knife from premium materials is definitely more expensive but I personally feel it is worth it. Just check out our company tour of Niagara Specialty Metals. Those people are amazing and it makes me proud to support them in some small way. I personally know, at least on some level, everyone we subcontract with in the production of our knives. That gives us 100% accountability, which I believe is why we've only ever had 2 warranty issues with our knives. I try to shop US businesses as much as I can and avoid big box stores whenever possible. The more local you can shop, the more local the money stays. It supports US manufacturing jobs and strengthens a US economy. This isn't coming from an "us or them" or ultra-nationalist mentality either, I just want to one day again live in a country with a strong economy and healthy middle class. Having an innovative idea and then outsourcing it to maximize short term profits or have the lowest price point isn't the way to get there. We need to be innovators and producers. Ok, I'll get off my soapbox. lol Thanks again for the great video, keep fighting the good fight. -Guy
playboy! I did a separate vid on the gso & it one of the few that ive given a 10 , its well worth the money & is my favorite chopper. if you make big monster id love to thrash on it!
Hey Tac, if you're looking for a real beast of a chopper in the future you might like the GSO 12. SURVIVE! has it in production now, and it looks like a monster!
yup... i put the camp ten to the test a couple years back and was very surprised at its fine performance! several months later i got a little riffle in the forward edge chopping through a knot, so i removed the damage, reprofiled the edge a bit, no problem since but still don't completely trust the steel . great series Tac...woods
Dude, I have been waiting for this video for so long. The tactical show has become my favorite channel. You gotta keep cranking out the vids. Can't get enough! You da man brother Tac!
I live in Canada Mr Tac and guess what watching ur vids Im a proud owner of a Kershaw camp 10 and I love it! We cant get the gso 10 but guess what no one touches the camp 10 thats mine! Mr Tac I thank you and your vids for a healthy wise choice thanks Bro and thanks Kershaw! High 5 Mr Tac My best to you and Ms Tac high 5 thanx!!!!!!!!!!
Just watched the entire chop off series. Awesome ! Like you said, not exact science, but entertaining as hell. You keep on doing what you're doing, and i'll keep on watching.
Thanks for doing these. It's hard to beat the kukri design. I was on the fence between the camp 10 and 14. There was a sale which made the 14 less expensive than the 10, so I bought two 14s (one for my son). I'll bet GSO gets you a chopper. Still the camp 10 is hard to beat.
Shit, man, congrats to the Camp 10! VERY nice that another budget blade manages to do this well. I wonder how much it'd cost me compared to the Jess X, outside of Amazon (no coverage in my country).
Survive! Knives are Scammers I ordered a Survive! Knife March 2016 and I haven't received it yet. Every time I ask them when I get the knife, they say soon. There are a lot of others (100-1000) who are in the same situation and talk about it on Blade Forums and elsewhere.
+Tactical can u please do a review video of the Ontario SP51 n SP53? if you've used them how do they match up to these top 4 chop off finalists? thanks for all your vids
+Tactical can't see any "baton off" challenges in your list of vids. can u please do one? specifically for the large beast "if u only had one knife" scenario.
Amazing series playboy. I love comparisons like these and I wish this would be one of those chains where everyone does the exact same thing with the stuff they own, with the same parameters. I love how you reiterate what the intent is, and give your own insights in regards to pricepoint and overall value. One thing that would be cool is if you did the 10 chop, look at each, and then do like a 15 or 20 chop (or 5-10 more in each split) just to take out a little of the variability when it comes to errant shots, also to clear out more of the dingleberries in the middle ya know? As always, I mos def recco your stuff to my outdoor crew, and you're like one of the ONLY ppl that I actually sit though the ads for (you deserve that paper playboy). Keep it steezy big homie.
Wow that's just crazy I can't believe it, I have the bigger brother to the camp 10 the camp 14 that's crazy that the little $40 something knife beat out that $300 knife I definitely need to get to camp 10 now!
Great videos Tac. If you like the Camp 10 then get ahold of Schrade and tell them Josh said to make sure you get the SCHMBS as soon as possible. I put a lot of time and work into it and I'm sure you'll get a kick out of it.
I knew that I made an awesome choice with my KC10 (Tyrus). I have been waiting to see this video since I saw it was in the lineup. Tyrus is the greatest!!!!
I'm honestly not surprised at the outcome. Forward weight + big, sweeping belly = Outsized chopping capability. And given that it is made of a tough spring steel, has a very comfortable handle, a decent sheath, and only costs $40 on Amazon, it's easily the best value for money there.
good video. but, I have done a lot of looking into with all these knives, and I feel like the jess-x did better than the junglas in a lot of stuff. I own a jess-x, and I don't really know much about the GSO10, but its badass. cause I'm on a budget. so maybe I'll add a kershaw camp 10 to my collection.
Not bad testing. On a budget the 2 cheapest blade perform the best. I was surprised a bit. The Kershaw with it belly and thinner blade was a more logical winner on chop test of course. As you said Jess X is incredible at battonning. It would be difficult to have one blade that did the best at everything , just not possible. Small machete style blade are my favourite and a recurve blade do work awesome. Thanks for the shootout.
How's that Kershaw feel in the hand? Light or heavy. My cold steel kukri 0-1 feels lighter than my Tahoma. So I don't think it always comes down to weight.
$35 for the camp 10 and still the best chopper! You can strip it replace the grips with Micarta Blue it, put a Mustard or Vinegar patina on it and still be under $100. Cheers Blazin'Blades
i liked this test. excellent job on these videos very fair comparison of all the knives. got to ask witch one was you pulling the most out of all of them? i was hoping the schf 45 would have done better. still my favorite tho.
Pity you did not show the relative thickness of each blade. Or do we assume they all have the same thickness? I also use a recurve (which I designed and made myself - my Bushwhacker!)
love it! Kresge owned it!Tac what neck knife you rocking in this video?I'm looking to buy the TOPS CUT 4.0 but I'm interested in what you got on?Thanx and keep up the great work brother!!
sorry this isn't related to the video, but I just wanted to ask if you could a review/test with the coldsteel all terrain chopper.also, just started watching the vids and I already know I'm in the right place :)
Kershaw is like Schrade, getting a lot for cheap. Longevity is to be seen though. Got an SCHF28 that's lasting a year of hard use. Camp 10 might be a buy in future. Love it brother T. Good shit. Time for a Molson.
I've owned my Camp 10 for three years, and I take it over any of my big knives. Hasn't broke, hasn't rolled, takes a hell of an edge, the grip is outrageous, and the belly has sooooo much power. And I got it for $35, best knife dollar for dollar out there.
I just read your comment, stacked the GSO, Camp, Junglas on top of each other and the Camp is smaller than the Junglas all the way around and an inch longer but not as wide as the GSO.
excellent video and you seemed to be quite fair with each knife. I've done a few tests and this is difficult to do as most of us have a favorite. I hate to be presumptuous but Dare I ask what branch of the military you served in? keep up the great videos my brother.
Tac, it would be awesome if you did another Chop Off
You sold me a kershaw camp 10. What an awesome review.
The grip on the Camp knives is FANTASTIC !!! Just feels good. 👍,,, 🔪💗
I bought the camp 10. No regrets. You helped my decision. Thanks TAC
Love your vids. Little late to the party but I'm getting a Kershaw Camp 10. Thanks!
This series has been enlightening. Thanks for the info Tac!
Really dig this series Tac. That camp10 is an underrated beast of a blade.
Thanks for the vid, Tac! You made a Camp 10 fanboy a happy man :). I love that blade, but I especially love the handle, and the amazing sheath too (perfect for lefties!!) If I had the money, I'd still buy the GSO10 too though.

awesome video! i'm ordering the kershaw camp 10 right now because of you! $32 on amazon! i'm a fan of kershaw, i edc a kershaw blur.

Camp 10 f'in ROCKS!!! awesome video!
Just watched the entire chop off series. Awesome ! Like you said, not exact science, but entertaining as hell. You keep on doing what you're doing, and i'll keep on watching.
Hey Tac, I have 2 kershaws and didn't realize they offer a lifetime sharpening. It's in a pamphlet in my second box.
I really enjoyed all the chop vids. I'll take that Junglas any day though.
i knew the camp 10 would win i love that thing, Tac i would love see that camp 10 go up against the schf48 in a chop off
I had to order the winner. It's on the way! Thanks for the awesome video Tac.

I love the fairness of it! There was no preference or anything, just BAM! And wow,the Kershaw actually won big chop off!!!!!!! buying one NOW
Like your videos, put the wood your chopping on a solid base ,so it doesn't move ,and they will penetrate, more!
Thank you Bro Tac!! Really enjoyed this series of Vids - All the Best Man :))
always good to make you smile
Shit, man, congrats to the Camp 10! VERY nice that another budget blade manages to do this well.
I wonder how much it'd cost me compared to the Jess X, outside of Amazon (no coverage in my country).

my favorite intro, and my favorite blade won! thanks bro!
I knew that I made an awesome choice with my KC10 (Tyrus). I have been waiting to see this video since I saw it was in the lineup. Tyrus is the greatest!!!!
Neat series, but did not expect the Kershaw to win. Of course the Pit Viper wasn't in the running!
I'm honestly not surprised at the outcome. Forward weight + big, sweeping belly = Outsized chopping capability. And given that it is made of a tough spring steel, has a very comfortable handle, a decent sheath, and only costs $40 on Amazon, it's easily the best value for money there.
good video, I like that see model 29 ,on your side. That is the 29?
close 629
Dark Timber test coming soon?
I remember being excited for this chop off and then went a whole year without watching it. lol.
Awesome videos Bro. ALL OF THEM. THANK YOU for doing all of the tests. Very appreciated 10/10 🗡🔪👍
1075 carbon steel or 65mn?
The music at the beginning is a very nice touch to the videos xD
Hey Tac, you should do a medium knife chop off with blades between 5.5 and 7 inches like the BK-7, SCHF9, Esee 6, etc
Man I called camp 10 way back but that gso is so sick
Tactical can you do a better review on the Shrade 48 the jethro?
good video. but, I have done a lot of looking into with all these knives, and I feel like the jess-x did better than the junglas in a lot of stuff. Tac, I can't find the video in which you showed how to twirl knives. D: Is it no longer online?
not shur wich vid that was
***** Could you please make another video on how to do the knife twirl? It looks so sick when you do it. :D
$35 for the camp 10 and still the best chopper!
You can strip it replace the grips with Micarta Blue it, put a Mustard or Vinegar patina on it and still be under $100.
Cheers
Blazin'Blades
i liked this test. excellent job on these videos very fair comparison of all the knives. got to ask witch one was you pulling the most out of all of them? i was hoping the schf 45 would have done better. still my favorite tho.
dude great video, what's the music in the intro please ?
best chopper for sure ..... or is it toss in that dark timber badass knife on your hip into the mix . a new challenger apears
Hands down the Kersaw Camp 10. Ahh yeah.
Pity you did not show the relative thickness of each blade. Or do we assume they all have the same thickness? I also use a recurve (which I designed and made myself - my Bushwhacker!)
Kershaw! Best bang for buck! Thanks for the great reviews!
I think the real beast here was that red cedar. It made the GSO almost bounce on the first swing.Great series playa!
I like recurves too. I'd like to see the kershaw compared against the jethro. Jethro is my favorite chopper.
was the Jethro the kukuri?
***** has the belly. bad ass blade.
+Living Survival I'll take a look bro
I have a question please. Where you in the military and if so special forces?
Great chop off sir! Did you make it to blade show?
Dont know this steel. Does it chip /roll easy? (Camp 10 steel)
How does it compare to say CROVAN 1095?
have a favorite 2-3 "Big choppers" ?
Good Stuff Tac!
Camp 10 verses that Dark Timber on your hip!
Looks like your preparing to save middle earth with those blades.
all good stuff bro
Allah Snack Bar !!! 😝
Kershaw is like Schrade, getting a lot for cheap. Longevity is to be seen though. Got an SCHF28 that's lasting a year of hard use. Camp 10 might be a buy in future. Love it brother T. Good shit. Time for a Molson.
Oh in your 10 chop against the grain chop offs....bring a ruler brother T
I've owned my Camp 10 for three years, and I take it over any of my big knives. Hasn't broke, hasn't rolled, takes a hell of an edge, the grip is outrageous, and the belly has sooooo much power. And I got it for $35, best knife dollar for dollar out there.
If Kershaw camp 10 is good then what about the larger sizes 14 or 18 ?
Hey tax I thought you said the schf48 was going to be in the chop of
The curved blades and handles do bring an advantage but if I'm carrying it I want a low profile so thats why I prefer the GSO 10 and Junglas.
I hate to be presumptuous but Dare I ask what branch of the military you served in? keep up the great videos my brother.
bubba, what are you packing at the end of the vid? is that your new "pittie" aka dark timber pit viper?
Tac are you gonna sell any of them contestants???
