It’s settled. I have the best subscribers on RUclips. Thank you all for the words of support. And thank you to everyone who wanted to make a contribution as a result of this video (definitely wasn’t expecting that). The link to contribute was broken before (I suck) but it’s all fixed now. THANK YOU!!
I always look forward to your content. It is distinctive in it’s content and approach. Don’t ever stop. No matter how much time passes between new episodes.
I so appreciate the sentiment here in terms of not wanting to commercialise your channel. For whatever anyone cares what I think, I’m sure it’s the right thing to do remaining true to your passion and instincts here. It’s so perfect the way you have it. I can’t stand most other RUclips channels, particularly those on photography, but this is a haven of real artistry, fine beverages and occasional bee attacks. It’s just good clean fun! You won’t know it, but it got me through having Covid, that’s how much of a cool thing your channel is. Look forward to seeing you in the desert or outside a mid-century building sometime soon 👍🏻
Finally a working photographer that makes films rather than a RUclipsr who only wants to make RUclips’s as a main source of income. I actually watched one RUclipsr who wears analog cameras like jewelry and the only pics on their Instagram page are of the photographer. An expert in social media for sure but not necessarily the real deal. You are totally believable and your videos are outstanding. Great job ams look forward to more.
How can anyone thumbs down this, only reason I can think is distress at lack of videos. Heartfelt, genuine, open and engaging.. everything that many are not. Enjoy the porcelain and catch ya soon
Dude, relax.:-) Good content once in a while when you have time, is way better than lousy content cranked out twice a week. Glad you got the studio fixed - we have a 3ft hole in our kitchen floor right now where water leaked from under the sink and ruined the plywood subfloor, so I sympathise. :) And thanks for keeping everyone up to date.
This is why I love your work. Honesty. This is not you main gig, but when you do put out work, it’s from the heart. Thank you for you authenticity Nick.
That’s what I love about your channel. It’s not peppered with ads, click bait or sponsors. You’re like a fine wine, just every now and then and we get to appreciate you more. You’re one of the only photographers I know that stays true to us the subscriber so we are not feeling we are being sold to. You and your videos are on another level of cool. Your humour is subtle and understated. We, ( your subscribers ) are going nowhere. Quality over quantity every time.
I have enjoyed your channel for years because of your honest approach with no agenda other than how to make a great image. You can’t be a LF photographer without being patient. I can wait for you. You’re worth it
Once a week, once a month, once a year, no matter. The point I would like to make is, when you discuss process of your photography it is immensely helpful and inspiring. Many thanks.
Thanks for the update, Nick. As an amateur/hobbyist photographer, both digital and film, I've thoroughly enjoyed your RUclips videos. Maybe there's something wrong with me, but I especially like your sense of humor. So keep on keepin' on! And I'll continue to look forward to your content.
Incredible that I don't shoot film, don't shoot your style (which I love by the way), and yet enjoy any type of content you put in your channel, one of my favorites on RUclips by the way. Thank you Nick and best of luck! C' Ya!
If only more RUclipsrs were this honest! I love watching your videos Nick - they're always worth waiting for, so you just keep doing what you do. Cheers🍻
The fact that you make videos that you actually care about is the reason why I (and probably a lot of others) watch every single video that you post. I don’t do this for any other channel. Keep up the great work and look forward to seeing your next video.
From time to time we all have to deal with day to day cR4p and no one will hold that against you... your work for me has been the singularly most inspiring photo channel for me.. because it isn't about brands and gear it is about PHOTOGRAPHY! I shoot commercially and this channel is a breath of fresh air... it has me thinking about new stuff outside of my commercial work but then thinking about how I can bring film back into the commercial work... Thank you Nick!
I can’t believe I only just came across your channel!! Already watched pretty much most of your videos and can’t wait for some more. Thank you RUclips algorithm.
Part of what makes your posts great is the surprise when one arrives. No timeline, or expectation on my part. Just the enjoyment when it happens. However long it takes doesn't matter.
Man, I've been watching and loving the hell out of your videos for a while now and I don't even shoot large format or much film. Hell, mostly what I do is draw and paint, photography is a side creative outlet for me that I enjoy. But you do your thing, I love your channel as it is, I don't want to see you doing all those other kinds of videos, plenty of other great channels for that. You have your own thing going here and it's good, damn good, and I hope to see more of it in the future, more camping / photography trips edited and produced in your style, and if it takes time for you to do that, then take that MF'n time. Awesome job on that little building out there, I have a lot of work to do myself, place just flooded up here in WA. with all the rain we got right now, so here's to new home ownership and projects. Thanks Nick!
I am and always will be a quality over quantity person. You've been a huge positive influence on my budding analog picture taking adventure. I know how home DIY projects can snowball and take you down the rabbit hole, but your end result looked fantastic! Thanks for the updates and I will be patiently waiting for the NC video.
All cool Nick, love your work, enthusiasm and humour, whenever you get back to doing Videos again, your loyal fan base will be there ! Cheers from Australia!
I don’t care how long there is between videos. It’s always a pleasure to watch the stuff you make. And I appreciate that you keep it as a hobby in order to have complete creative freedom. I think more people on RUclips should do that actually!
Please don't give up on RUclips. Your content is totally unique and even if I'm not shooting Film your videos are teaching me so much about composition and lighting! Your videos are simply awesing = (awesome and amazing)✌️
Nick - I get a sinking feeling when a valued author posts a video with a title like "A Message to My Subscribers" so I am relieved having watched it. Like so many other folk here I highly value the effort you make to create your videos for us, they are excellent and some of the best photographic content I watch. As many others have said, don't worry about the rate of posting - just keep to your quality ethos and we will be happy. Thanks for what you do for us. Keep well and all the best from the UK
Mr. Carver-----So sorry to hear of your issues with your ADU. The bright side is that you and your dad did it...............so that means it was done thoughtfully and with care. Whereas, if you'd have paid a contractor, you really would not necessarily find out that they did a shoddy job, until months or years and tens of thousands of dollars later. Salute to you for tackling such a difficult job, all while working full-tiime. Can't afford to take one or your courses in the near future, however, you ALWAYS get a "like" from me. Pushing the algorithim. LOVE e-tagging along with you on your scouting trips, and appreciate ALL of the time you have given your RUclips community, all while being a husband, working, and living your life. Happy Thanksgiving, Merry Christmas, and a very healthy and happy New Year to you and your family!!!!
Thanks for the update Nick: I was beginning to think we'd lost you. I enjoy your U-Tube content and look forward to your return. In the meantime, best wishes.
I had a similar project decades ago, that started as a ceiling water stain in my garage....from a deck atop. That failed. During the winter. So I learned a whole bunch of building trades because the bids I received almost gave me a heart-attack. I also learned that whiskey is pretty nice during a blizzard at the end of the day, just you, your toolbelt, and Carhart's. And a snowball in your tumbler glass. Of course "the fix" turned into "THE PROJECT".....with a ton of additional improvements/features/etc. I mean I even wired up speakers out there....and that alone took two days in a crawlspace snaking wires up to the 2nd. story from the living room. FUN times.
Good for you. I enjoy your vlogs, even though I'll never go large format. You're interesting and have an honest vibe. Keep doing what you're doing and how you do it. We'll all still be here when you get back.
Nick you don't have to explain your time away from the channel due to life commitments besides we are all humans and have many life priorities, Your channel is one of my favourites and when we see new content that's a bonus otherwise happy to watch re-runs over and over with my Cola in my hand enjoying them. Keep up the great work and all the best with your renovations 😁
Nick you are the bomb.Keep on keeping on you are out there all by yourself and im sure many will support my sentiments when i say take your time we will wait and soak up your future content and projects
Thanks for the update. For what it is worth I watch your videos for the "on location" content. I get a lot out of watching your thought process in composing images and seeing potential locations for me to visit. Looking forward to more.
I have always been impressed with your sincere and knowledgable manner. Many of your videos have mirrored my personal photographic interests right down to modding the 4Runner! I know this video was last November but I felt you deserved a thumbs up.
Whenever I see a Nick video is in the the inbox...it' a day of delight!!! Info, humor and maybe a nice libation of some kind. The thing I hope people realize is you have a life outside of RUclips...OMG!!!! For me at least, I'm not jumping the Nick Ship. When you put out another video, I'll be punching that play button like a pro. Take care Nick and just do what ya gotta do. Best wishes mister......
Life is busy! We get it. Thank you for all that you have provided over the years. I will never stop watching your content regardless of how long it takes. Thank you for being true to yourself and your viewers👍🏼
Mate you deserve a good rest. You always give to this channel so much that don't need to give explanations if the channel have been quite recently. Your videos are awesome always, so inspiring, enjoyable and full of usefull knowledge. You are one of the reason why I started shooting film and took back photography in a much respectful way. Is us people like me that watch your channel who have to give you thank you. thanks master.
Congratulations on your beautiful work you have done, continue on your way, no doubt it is a great pleasure to see and hear your videos an excellent contribution to analog photography made by you, a serious and competent person, thank you for what you have done , hoping to see new videos as soon as possible, and I wish you much success, you deserve it. Thanks, many thanks Nick!!!!!!!
Hey Nick. I really like your content no matter how long it takes to see another episode. And i REALLY DAMN value, that you DON'T mess up your videos with shitty lo-fi hip-hop music and that you're keeping a constistent quality standard instead of a high content-output-rate. So stay as you are. That's why we love you. And we really do! Greetings from "across the big atlantic pond"- Southern Germany =) =)
Happy to hear that RUclips is not the first priority for you, meaning that you put out content that you care about, and not getting hungry for subscribers, and rather want to put out content you have an interest and passion for. Keep doing that and your followers will be happy. I'we been, and am, a film photographer 35mm and medium format for more than 55 years, and still have much to learn, and inspiration to absorb.... PS Nice work on the adu.
Thank you for what you do! Nobody else puts out a series like photography on location showing the journey from initial idea to final image and (often) the pain along the way. I'm happy to wait for such quality content - I'll use the time to get out more with my own camera!
It is good that you and your dad were able to do all that reconstruction work yourselves. I can only guess at the insane costs from contractors in Orange County CA. They are crazy enough in the Washington D.C./Baltimore metro area. Given what we saw it appears you had a major job and the outcome looks great. Can't say that I don't mess your content on youtube. I always find it both interesting and informative. I also like the subjects you photograph which are different than many on youtube. Of course, now I have the metering course that I'm working through so I have my required Nick Carver fix. The joys of homeownership. Talk your Dad out for a drink. Seems you two work well together.
Looking forward to the future, Nick. As a retired remodeling contractor, I can definitely feel your pain! Life happens. Don't stress about RUclips; we will all be here when you get back to us ~!
Yours is one of my favourite photography channels. I understand the situation and will be patient because The most important is that you bring content that you enjoy a we can find useful, and that will happen if the rest of your life is in harmony. Whenever you come back we will be ready to follow you again.
Nick, my English is not so good but I learn a lot from your way of working and teaching. II will continue to follow you, and I wish you every success and health. Remember, after rain comes sunshine. Good luck
Take care of what you need to, get your shit done. We'll be here when you're ready to come back. Looking forward to your next on location shoot, as they always remind me of my favorite aspects of this hobby.
Looks like you did some nice work with the renovations. Be careful not to overwork yourself, sounds like you've had a lot on your plate. Just check in every so often so we know your still alive.
Over time I lost interest in most photography YT Channels except yours. Your on location videos and BGWG and entertaining and informative. Keep doing what you do when you have to time to do it. I'll still be here.
Wow! I totally admire your energy and skill in completing a huge constuction project like that on your own! It was back in my 20's that I last had the energy or was willing to comit the time to such a huge undertaking. Regardless, thanks for the update. Your content is unique to me in how accurate and techincal it is, yet completely in the service of art and creating the results that you want. I really like that balance. Whenever your You Tube videos come out the content is consitently great, just how it is. Hope you keep it up!
Thanks Nic, I like the raw honesty you bring to your chanel. So many fake 'look at me' you tubers when all i want, is to watch what they do and how they do it. I am looking at your course content and the addition of film shooting may tip me over. I'll remain a subscriber and looking forward to your next on location video.
Waiting anxiously for the Large format course, and everyone course you can think of. Really love your teaching style. And you’re 100% right about that stupid “film versus film” videos. Don’t sell your soul.
NIck, MASSIVE RESPECT to you for (a) being so upfront and honest (as always) and (b) not making any compromises and sticking to only making RUclips videos that you believe in - because that’s what we actually want (even if it means waiting). I for one do not want you to push out any old crap just to keep some algorithm on RUclips happy and I like your funny, sarcastic attitude about those that do! I’m glad you don’t have to rely on RUclips and I look forward to paying for your Large Format Photography Course whenever it becomes available. Put it this way, anyone seriously interested in a photographic process that requires you to slow down, think and above all be patient, should have no problem waiting until you have something you’re happy to release. As always I believe it will be worth that wait, as I know you will always stick to your impeccably high standards, for which you always have my gratitude and respect 👏🙌
I’ve enjoyed your work and your videos Nick! Your studio looks great and wish you continued success in your ventures! You are a stand up guy and look forward to seeing more of your work!!
Missing your vids dude but I always binge them every few months so going through a binge right now. Can't wait to see you back with more. Hope all is well.
Many thanks for letting us know what’s going on. No need to apologize for doing first things first. Please take whatever time you need to get things settled, and know that we will be here, waiting patiently for the first-class tutorials that you generate! Nice work on the studio!
Nick, thank you for what you bring to the film photography community! you provide so much information and I've fed off of your stellar ideas as inspiration. Keep your focus on your family, friends, job, etc. We'll all be around whenever you want to stop by. Cheers!
Your RUclips channel is one of my favourites. This is a winning formular so need to get into the post once a week with film/camera etc. comparisons. Oh and good job with the reno. Looking good
Nick, Nick, Nick! Dude you rock the proverbial RUclips Chanel. You are about photography. Not just selling and advertising crap.( and a little Blanton's! Which is my FAV.} Keep up the great work and total sincerity. Will always be a fan.
Great update! I feel your pain, been rebuilding a neglected house for the last year... We very much appreciate your content ... Your channel is one of our favorites! Both my wife and I always look forward to your on location photography! Cheers from 🇨🇦!
What James said!
Thank you, sir 🙏🏼

Can’t tell you how much I appreciate this. Thank you.
The photography on location series is awesome, the longer the better, especially those dusk/dawn sets. Love them
I could quite happily watch a 5-hour On Location video
Finally a working photographer that makes films rather than a RUclipsr who only wants to make RUclips’s as a main source of income. I actually watched one RUclipsr who wears analog cameras like jewelry and the only pics on their Instagram page are of the photographer. An expert in social media for sure but not necessarily the real deal. You are totally believable and your videos are outstanding. Great job ams look forward to more.
I think I know just who you mean! 🙂
I would watch a Nick Carver DIY channel!
Porcelain Carving Nick
And that's why we love you ❤️
How can anyone thumbs down this, only reason I can think is distress at lack of videos. Heartfelt, genuine, open and engaging.. everything that many are not. Enjoy the porcelain and catch ya soon
No worries Nick- I’ll enjoy your vids whenever you post them- always useful and entertaining content
And thanks for keeping everyone up to date.
I appreciate it. Just don’t want to let the viewers down! 🥲
This is why I love your work. Honesty. This is not you main gig, but when you do put out work, it’s from the heart. Thank you for you authenticity Nick.

No Problem brother, I love your stuff when ever you make it and I know im going to enjoy it. Do your thing!!! Whoop whoop!!!
I’ll watch whenever you have time to post. No worries! You are worth it! I’m grateful for sharing in your gift.

Thanks for the update, Nick. As an amateur/hobbyist photographer, both digital and film, I've thoroughly enjoyed your RUclips videos. Maybe there's something wrong with me, but I especially like your sense of humor. So keep on keepin' on! And I'll continue to look forward to your content.

on location videos are probably the best. it's great to see architecture photos and the process in making them each time and over time.
Thanks for the update. I think your priorities are in proper order. You are blessed to have a father that can help you with such daunting tasks.

Looking forward to seeing you when ever you have the time. Thanks for your honesty.
Hey man! No worries! Anything worth takes time! Love your content because it’s genuine.
we shall receive this message 🗿
Thank you Nick! The shed came out looking stellar. Keep up the great work my friend.

Thanks Nick, less is more as they say,.
Your on location vids have helped get me through the 262 days of lockdown here in Melbourne.
Great job
You're a straight up guy Nick. I applaud your direction and your honest frankness. Thank you.
Thx for all the videos already. Anything you do is always appreciated.
I don’t care how long there is between videos. It’s always a pleasure to watch the stuff you make. And I appreciate that you keep it as a hobby in order to have complete creative freedom. I think more people on RUclips should do that actually!

Well done Nick (and dad) nothing like the feeling of doing something yourself when that thing isn't in your wheelhouse.
It is good that you and your dad were able to do all that reconstruction work yourselves. I can only guess at the insane costs from contractors in Orange County CA.
Nick,
my English is not so good but I learn a lot from your way of working and teaching.
Love your channel, keep it up. No need to worry about taking a break for other work - we understand!
Over time I lost interest in most photography YT Channels except yours. Your on location videos and BGWG and entertaining and informative. Keep doing what you do when you have to time to do it. I'll still be here.
The On Location videos keep me alive dude. Keep it up!
Thank you very much, Bob 🙏🏼
perfectly put
I had the project from hell in my mid-30's; at 65 now....no way would I attempt the same now.
Thank you for the beautiful honesty, can’t wait until the new course lands… as they say… GOOD THINGS COME TO THOSE WHO WAIT!
Thank you!
Waiting anxiously for the Large format course, and everyone course you can think of. Really love your teaching style.
And you’re 100% right about that stupid “film versus film” videos. Don’t sell your soul.
Please keep doing you, your channel is awesome and the one that always inspires me the most! 🙌🏻
Excellent Message!!! That's why this is my favorite channel.
your on location videos are always a pleasure to watch. I look forward to more of them in the future.
Keep on keepin' on, Nick. Always nice to see something pop up, but it can wait.
I’ve enjoyed your work and your videos Nick! Your studio looks great and wish you continued success in your ventures! You are a stand up guy and look forward to seeing more of your work!!
you are my absolute fav youtuber content creator. please, take your time. we will always be here!!!
Love your channel as is Nick, its good to know you not going to ham it up… It’s just life man. 👍🇬🇧
No probs mate, keep up the good work however you can. Glad to hear you’re keeping this as an enjoyable exercise. That’s what makes it so unique.
Fully understand your situation and looking forward to you been back here again in the future, I'll be here.
Missing your vids dude but I always binge them every few months so going through a binge right now. Can't wait to see you back with more. Hope all is well.
As always, completely excellent. Renovation is one tough project to get into, so well done.
Many thanks for letting us know what’s going on. No need to apologize for doing first things first. Please take whatever time you need to get things settled, and know that we will be here, waiting patiently for the first-class tutorials that you generate! Nice work on the studio!
Love your on location videos. So much inspiration for me. Thank you for what you are doing Nick!
Nick, It's great to get this update and nice to hear about the DIY remodel. Missed your regular content but you got to look after business first.
"Just a quick update for anyone who cares." As I see it, around 93,000 people care. Keep up the great work - it's inspirational.
Thank you Nick.
Best photography Channel.
Thanks Nick for everything you do. Keep at it!
You're one of my absolute top RUclipsrs. Always love your videos!
