I'm preparing for my first public showing of my pictures... Watching your 4 vids is immensely helping me through my own drama not unlike your own... I feel more confident having watched you go through and resolve some of your own issues that resembled my own!!! i love this series so much but it's also a bit heartbreaking for me because it reminds me of how much i missed doing all these. i studied fine arts and even though the education throughout the years was alright, working on exhibitions was just soooo much fun. it's so fun that one even enjoys getting tired or hungry. not many people have the chance to experience such a thing, and it maddens me that i cannot for a while either. you did an awesome job, and i always look up to you. you deserve much more attention and respect

I love that your brother showed up. My family has a tendency to do things like this where we "crash" things that are important, but aren't always the easiest to get to. Brilliant video and it has actually helped me as I've just got a commission for a large print of A1 size (Roughly 24x36) and we are at the stage of deciding what paper to use, so I will direct the client to have a look at this and make her own mind up. Thank You.
I did enjoy the whole video series, Nick. No surprises on the show opening other than the wonderful surprise of your brother being there. That had to be great for both of you! I knew you would be blown away with meet and greet. So many people to smile with and shake hands with and answer questions for. The high is so great it will take several days for you to come back down to the ground. I'm glad you had someone there who made video of the reception. Two things: even though it would be out of reach, budget wise, for me to purchase one of your photos I think your pricing is pretty on the lower side. And the second thing is that the meeting your brother moment was the highlight of the video, for me. Heartwarming!
Nick, a couple questions, if you don't mind. I have a project coming up where an artist would like some 4x5" transparencies of his 5x8 foot stained glass installation. His goal is for a company to make a 4x7 foot enlargement on a translucent Fuji stock. The Fuji print will then be installed into a case with LED backlights which will be hung near a stairwell in his home. I guess Fuji has pulled their E-6 film from the market. Am I wrong? Does anyone have stock? Who processes your E-6 transparencies? Where can I get a super high resolution scan? If the artist balks at the costs of 4x5, I could use 120 film. Incredible exhibition! I've been following your progress since your first large-format prints; in fact, that's why I started my own work in digital printing. The issue you mentioned, regarding the banding in the sky, might possibly be caused by the printer's resolution. I have an Epson P8000 with a resolution of 2880 x 1440 (a peculiar number, considering it's dots per inch), which means it overlaps more ink droplets on one axis than the other. I suppose that's why you were able to resolve the problem by rotating it 90 degrees. Congrats on the fine work!

Good show. I hear you on expenses. I've just had a few solo shows in my lifetime because I generally don't actively pursue it. The problem, too expensive, and I hardly ever sell prints. Back when I was dry mounting prints I liked to cut a matt to show the white edges of the print or the backboard in between. I'm not sure how to do that with digital. How are you having the prints done on boards and how are you attaching so that there's space inside the frame around the prints? I love that look. Also are you able to find wood frames with narrow faces and deep sides? Love your photos. I'm attracted to similar subject matter.

Hi Nick; The hanging and layout looks super, and the work reflects both the art and the craftsmanship in translation of your artistic "sight" to a hanging work...since I'm in hospital, and sadly lacking in both time and energy, I wondered if you had discussed in one of the videos in this series, how you came to price each work (the process, not for each work..)? Did you have guidance from the gallery, or other trusted person(s)? I have to think that this is a difficult task, with both "practical" issues related to costs and time, plus a valuation of your vision... seems might challenging. If that's a subject that you don't want to pick away at, I can easily appreciate that, too. In any case, congratulations on a clearly exciting and successful opening!

Good show. I hear you on expenses. I've just had a few solo shows in my lifetime because I generally don't actively pursue it. The problem, too expensive, and I hardly ever sell prints. Back when I was dry mounting prints I liked to cut a matt to show the white edges of the print or the backboard in between. I'm not sure how to do that with digital. How are you having the prints done on boards and how are you attaching so that there's space inside the frame around the prints? I love that look. Also are you able to find wood frames with narrow faces and deep sides? Love your photos. I'm attracted to similar subject matter.

The hanging and layout looks super, and the work reflects both the art and the craftsmanship in translation of your artistic "sight" to a hanging work...since I'm in hospital, and sadly lacking in both time and energy, I wondered if you had discussed in one of the videos in this series, how you came to price each work (the process, not for each work..)?
Did you have guidance from the gallery, or other trusted person(s)? I have to think that this is a difficult task, with both "practical" issues related to costs and time, plus a valuation of your vision... seems might challenging.
If that's a subject that you don't want to pick away at, I can easily appreciate that, too.
In any case, congratulations on a clearly exciting and successful opening!
