    Azerbaijan is a nice place for a vacation, yes, but Azerbaijan is a perfect place for people who love history. There are historical monuments in every region of Azerbaijan, exploring them as a foreigner is fun, educational and adds excitement to your vacation. Moreover, Azerbaijan is famous not for its cities but for its lush green forests and natural villages with clean air, It's a very peaceful place and the people there are very friendly to foreigners.

    From what I heard, the hospitality there is as grand as the palaces, and 'tea time' can last longer than some sitcoms. Oh, and if you can correctly pronounce 'Baku,' you'll instantly earn a round of applause and a pat on the back. Welcome to a land where history meets modernity with a side of saffron. Kidding aside, I hope my travel dart would land here because this country indeed seems pretty unique!

    You made it to yet another country! I was in Azerbaijan for only 4 days in 2019 and visited only the area around Baku, but thats a very big "only", around Baku there is the mud volcanos, the Gobustan ancient settlement, the burning mountain and the fire temple (Atesgah). Some fun facts about Azerbaijan, despite the majority being formally Muslim, it is a huge friend of Israel and probably one of the most irreligious countries in the world outside of Europe, and the currency the Azerbaijani manat is fixed to the US dollar with a fixed value that pretty much doesn't change, and the majority of ethnic Azerbaijanis does not live in the Republic of Azerbaijan, but in neighbouring Iran. Looking forward to more videos from this amazing country!
    So what's next? You could for example go on from there over to Kazakhstan and Mongolia, neither of them too far away. There should be ferries from Baku to Aktau, Kazakhstan but I heard the constantly changing timetables are notoriously hard to find, maybe a flight is easier.
    What a pity about the card, I hate when ATM's only dispense high value bills.

    Just a small suggestion from a fellow traveler. Try to always do a bit of research on how to get from an airport to a city center before you arrive. Also, check if you can use Uber or Bolt if you are around Europe and Eurasia. That would let you avoid confusion with cab drivers especially where English is poorly understood.

    Oh my gosh Gabriel, I stayed at exactly the same hotel! I immediately recognised the interior of the room - I stayed in a different room but the wallpaper and the furniture gave it away :) I'll never forget the large Azerbaijan and Turkish flags just above the staircase in the reception area. During the day, I recommend walking along the promenade where you will have an amazing view of some of the buildings. Nizami Street is always a winner too. May I also recommend the Museum of Miniature Books which showcases the smallest book in the world. Enjoy filming in this country, it was one of my favourites to film for sure.

    Hello, I am from Azerbaijan. I hope you had a good time while you were here. Here is some information for others who want to visit Baku. If you are visiting for one week, a maximum of 10 manats is enough for a Baku card. It's unfortunate that you spent 100 manats on it. Also, regarding taxi at 11:09 second, they are likely overcharging; it should only cost around 5 manats to go there. I apologize for this as an Azerbaijani, try to use Bolt or Uber. For anyone's information before commenting and scaremongering about safety in "the region", Azerbaijan is NOT in the Middle East but in the Caucasus region between West Asia and Eastern Europe in the former Soviet Union, the cold weather mentioned should be a hint. The Caucasus and the Middle East are 2 entirely different regions, both with their own pretty serious problems but unrelated. Baku is a perfectly safe city for the record, the kind of city where you can walk around safely at night.
    As for countries that are too dangerous for travel as in a major risk of not returning home alive, there are only about 20 of them (out of some odd 200 countries) in the world, max. That's about it, really. Just stop scaremongering.

    To travel on the metro or buses, you need to buy a card. You can buy a card for 3 trips or a permanent one. In addition, you need to put a certain amount of money on it, considering that one trip around the city costs 0,5 AZN. Keep in mind that money from the card is not returned, but the card itself can be returned when leaving Baku.

    Hi Gabriel, Interesting choice of traveling to Azerbaijan I realize it's a new country you're traveling to of course many unfamiliar places to see and experience for yourself and your viewers looking forward to seeing the city. It's going to be interesting to see your take as you go into the city. I wonder if you have some locations that you intend to see as soon as you can. Anything that other viewers have mentioned to take in and enjoy you do have some money on a metro card to travel around the city's transit system there must be some locations to see while visiting the main city of Baku.

    I believe you could get refund for that. You just have to approach help desks at one of the metro stations (there is one at 28 May station). You can return the card and its balance should be refundable. As for the ride from the airport to the city center, you can take uber or bolt. Both are quite affordable. Should range between 10-20manats. Be careful however, some taxi drivers can try to charge you more with some excuses. If you use bus or metro, only add 10 manats or so to your card balance. You can use the same card for more than one person.

    I am not a traveler. But I will research the country I will visit beforehand. I learn how the metro bus works. I will go and see where the hotel is. I'm interested in the money of the country I'm going to. After that, I'll check taxi prices. I research what taxi programs there are. I mean, it surprised even me that someone who had traveled to so many countries was so ignorant.

    • @GabrielTravelerVideos
      @GabrielTravelerVideos  2 месяца назад +1

      Doing all that research online in advance will take a lot longer than just figuring it out when you get there. Since I travel constantly I don't usually have a lot of down time somewhere to spend hours trying to figure out bus schedules and metro stations and taxi prices in foreign countries. And I already spend hours every day online and on my computer editing videos and managing my channel. So I have no interest in spending more time trying to figure out all this stuff online, when I know based on years of experience doing this that I'll figure it out on the ground when I get there. I made a video talking about this: ruclips.net/video/qrqBkKFkQLw/видео.html
