I love Shoto and I knew that he doesn’t really know Toya, but I mean we can see in the fight that Endeavor is the one and only who truly struggle with fighting Toya. Endeavor himself knows about the damage he has done.
    Thanks to the abuse, he did to his family born from his insecurity over surpassing All Might, it made his firstborn son Touya hate him and believe he and other heroes before and after him were a corrupt people thanks to the ideology inspired by Stain.
    Thus Touya craved only revenge and began on a path of vengeance as the League of Villains’ Dabi, killing many lives and becoming the most dangerous villain ever known in the world of My Hero Academia.
    And this is a moment I will always take seriously. Because it is one of those moments in anime and manga where an abusive parent knows that his or her actions have created irreparable damage. Along with extreme consequences to the point of where the damage is done.
    Endeavour realises he has created the most dangerous supervillain of all time. And compared to the abusive training he gave Shoto and the treatment he had towards Rei, I always feel like how he not cared about Touya was the more serious and dire moment of his abuse, because that very abuse and neglect turned him into the villain he is today.
    And there is no one he could blame but himself; he is the sole cause of all of this.

    Let's compare:
    In Kung Fu Panda, master Sifu only realizes how badly he screwed up raising Tau Lung after the latter beat him to a bloody pulp, all the while pointing out his numerous failures as a father. In Tai Lung's own words, Sifu filled his head with dreams, drove him to train until his bones cracked and denied him his destiny when he chose not to speak up for him when his master refused. He never even once visited him in 20 years of being imprisoned, only owning up to his mistakes well past the point where his son could be reasoned with anymore.
    Meanwhile, Endeavor only realizes how royally he screwed up after his allegedly dead son comes back as a psychotic serial killer who has to flat-out spell out to him that he put his entire family through hell for nothing and that he only snapped after seeing his father not having learned a thing even after what his abuse and neglect did to him.
    Just 2 deadbeat fathers having their hellspawn sons repay them for the literal hell they were put through.

    • @sosia0naro
      @sosia0naro Год назад +65

      But sifu saved Tai lung when he was a baby and had to abandon him once he saw the malice inside him (malice that was a result of sifu spoiling him and giving him special treatment) but nonetheless at its core sifu's intentions were good whereas endeavor was selfish and used his influence to force a marriage and get a child with power that could rival all might and he forced 6yo Toya to deal with the same frustration that corrupted endeavor. And when it was revealed that Toya couldn't achieve endeavor's goal, he abandoned him like the rest of the siblings and switched to shoto instead of confronting his feelings. Sifu and endeavor might be similar but endeavor is by far worse that sifu. He is a character that is hard to resonate with and still at the end, even after his past you can't help but root for the guy. Endeavor is by far the best written character in the show along with bakugou, stain and twice.

      The problem is, Endeavor stopped caring for Toya as soon as he realized he can't make a picture-perfect hero out of him -- to the point where he won't hear him out and won't stop his abuse of Shoto even after Toya's supposed demise. Yes, Endeavor isn't responsible for the things Dabi did, but he is responsible for Toya becoming Dabi.

    • @sherlockhomeless4928
      @sherlockhomeless4928 Год назад +19

      Yes and no. While yes, I agree that the unecessary neglect that Toya recieved, was just wrong and unforgivable...on both parent's sides (Like, from what we saw, he literally only had Natsu), but to say that Endeavor and Endeavor alone is the reason for Toya turning into Dabi is just plain wrong. The boy was always a little off. Not only that, he could've turned out like his siblings (Shoto, Natsu or Fuyumi), yet he chose to burn people alive. Thats...quite a jump.

    • @pokerface4396
      @pokerface4396 Год назад +12

      @@sherlockhomeless4928 I think, Toya was fine. Yes, he was extremely emotional and tried to attack baby Shoto, but that's how neglected children react when they're confused and desperate to understand why their parent doesn't love them anymore -- first, they try to be good, hoping that it will fix whatever they did wrong, then they act out hoping to get at least some kind of response. Given that Enji used to give him all of his attention and kept talking about how great of a hero he would be -- and then just straight up stopped all interactions the moment Toya stopped being perfect, that hurt him on so many levels. Enji didn't even care to teach Toya how to reduce his flames, didn't bother with figuring out how to make sure that Toya didn't get hurt by his own Quirk -- he just told him to never use it again and go and play ball with friends or whatever.
      Rei tried to reach out to and comfort him and get him to enjoy life, but Toya, an angry teen who didn't realize why his father cast him aside, just lashed out at her in bitterness. Rei had a load of mental issues at this point -- her eldest son was miserable, her youngest son was isolated from the rest of the family and abused, and her husband assaulted her when she tried to protect her child -- so she was barely keeping it together.
      The manga implies that after Toya almost burned himself to death, All For One took him. He made sure that Toya had a traumatizing awakening: when he said he wanted to go home and ask for forgiveness, a disembodied voice told him that this was his home now and he was a failure (All For One just knew how to break him).
      Then Toya runs back home, but he sees that his family has moved on, and Enji doesn't give a crap about his dead son. If it had turned up that Enji had given up on training Shoto because Toya's supposed death affected him that much, it would have given Toya a clue that his family did care. But what he saw made him think that Endeavor didn't even notice his death because, to him, Toya was a failure and, therefore, it didn't matter if he lived or died. Remember that Endeavor was supposed to be that noble and benevolent hero, the one who decides what's good and what's bad -- especially in his son's eyes. So, when everyone's favorite hero acts like that and nobody gives a shit -- what is even real in this world?
      That's not an excuse for Dabi's actions, but that's how Toya died and Dabi was born -- his obsession with his father now made him hellbent on exposing his false ideals and making him finally look at him. Unlike Himiko, who was undoubtedly born a psychopath and is deeply affected by her Quirk, Toya used to be normal, maybe a bit hotheaded and overly passionate kid, who then got broken by his father's neglect and the twisted people who found him. There is no way back for him after all these murders, but it all could have been avoided if Enji had been a decent parent.

All they want to do is see him suffer and to a degree, I understand that mentality. Its hard to forgive your abuser and many of these fans have been in the shoes of his kids or wife, so they can't see any concept of forgiveness, even if it helps them move on. If that is not weird don't know what is. So you're born into this world soley because your father is the second best at his job; and you know what? You're actually pretty fucking good at it. Arguably better then your dad is at like... five. Now normally this would be great but the problem is that one day you start getting burned and shit. Now what is your fathers reaction to this information? AFTER YEARS OF DEDICATION TO YA DAD, he LITERALLY LOOKS AT YOU, CALLS YOU A FALIURE, and then makes another kid specificlly to replace your entire existance. like.... Also, not only your dad calls you a failure and makes another kid, once that kid fails to live up to his expectations, he makes another kid. And then another, and another, until he finally gets his “perfect one”. That’s fucked up.
      It’s kinda noteworthy that Dabi is more lenient towards the rest of his family. He hates Shoto because he is the “pinnacle” of Endeavor’s work that probably made everything he put his wife and kids through feel justified to him. But when he exposes Endeavor publicly, he mentions himself and his siblings who endured abuse and neglect. In a twisted way (because it’s not likely he’ll go out of his way to save them or spare them), he did them justice too by telling their story as well, instead of making it all about him.

      Did them justice ?
      Bro...Dabi literally tried to murder Shotos older brother. And when Shoto confronted him on it Dabi admits that was his goal because he wanted to see the pain it would cause Endevor.

      Enji might have as well called Toya a failure because all his actions showed exactly that: your Quirk is flawed and so you have no value to me, I won’t spend time with you, I don’t care what you’re going to do with your life, I’ll replace you with another kid who hopefully won’t be defective and you just shut up and stop bothering me.
      Each time a kid didn’t meet his expectations, he stopped interacting with them and never cared about their needs. He treated them like failures, leaving Rei to pick up the pieces each time. This is the textbook definition of neglect. What else was Toya supposed to learn from it if Enji pretended he never existed unless he used his Quirk?
      As for Dabi, this is why I said in a “twisted way”. Dabi isn’t OK and hasn’t been OK ever since he emerged. He is full of hate to Endeavor and he also loathes himself (according to chapter 390 where he says that his entire family is living hell). Whatever love he had for his siblings and mom is twisted and overruled by his desire to hurt Endeavor. I never said that Dabi is a good person, but he is a tragic villain - and Endeavor played a huge part in his creation by warping his son’s idea of love and making him feel abandoned and discarded. Some villains have been evil from the beginning, but Toya isn’t one of them.

      Endeavor didn't push to have another child until after Toya kept training.
      That was when he reached the conclusion that the only way to stop Toya regression was to give birth to the perfect child.
      But again, that was a direct result of Toya bot stopping with his training. It came after that not before it.
      I don't disagree that Endeavor neglected them. But as I said that was out if ignorance not mailoicous intent.
      This is shown during the dinner he had with Bakugo and Deku, when it's brought up how he isolated Shoto he acknowledged how he didn't fully grasp the scale to which he was doing it.
      Endeavor played a part in Toyas decline sure. But Endeavor never made him a mass murderer. Toya did that all his own. 🤷🏾

    Endeavor’s past actions caused significant harm to his family, especially to Toya, who later became Dabi. His abusive behavior towards his family, driven by his obsession with surpassing All Might, left deep scars.
    Endeavor's efforts to change and atone for his past mistakes, as pointed out by Midoriya, show that he is trying to become a better person and a true hero. The idea of giving someone a second chance is important, as it allows for growth and redemption. However, it's crucial to recognize that forgiveness is a personal and individual choice, especially for those who have been directly hurt.
    Hatred indeed perpetuates a cycle of pain and suffering. Endeavor's journey towards redemption and the Todoroki family’s healing process underline that while the past cannot be undone, people can work towards a better future. Whether or not they choose to forgive Endeavor is their decision, but the possibility of change and forgiveness offers a path to healing.

He expects atonment, but not forgiveness, because it isn't his or bystanders' decision whether he deserves the latter, which resulted in him not demanding a seat with his family. We can only expect his lesson to be sufficient reason if we assumed that all the world revolved around him and therefore it is acceptable that innocent people dying for him to learn something is just another day in the office. But the world doesn't revolve around him and trying to tell Touya's victims that Enji learnt his lesson, so it's fine would like spitting in their face. He married his wife for the soul purpose of a designer quirk, neglected his first born son instead of teaching him how to control his powers, had another child, neglected them, had another child, neglected them, and then had ANOTHER child and when that child was perfect he shut down his wife, his three children, and ONLY spent any real meaningful time with one child, and that was pure training.
      Lets not forget, he verbally and physically abused his wife to the point of a mental breakdown which forced her to stay in a hospital for YEARS, until she finally snapped out of it.
      I'm sorry, but decades of treating people like absolute shit doesn't compare to a few tears and an I'm sorry. The fact that it took his own son exposing him for his actions for him to really get it through his thick skull that he's a piece of shit, is alarming.
      Dabi deserves a family, Endeavor doesn't deserve anything end of story. When real life celebrities are found out to be serial abusers, majority of time they never get another job again, or get jailtime. Endeavor shouldn't get any respect, he should be in prison for multiple felonies.

    In a way is certainly funny how people react to Endeavor crying. The anime itself it’s a reflection of the fandom, some people stand Endeavor, some chose to point the finger and say “b*tch I’m never going to forgive you for this”.
    Do you have never screw up in your time? Have you never hurt someone? Have you never did bad stuff that you regret maybe too late?
    You mostly will, humans aren’t perfect. We screw things up, we hurt people, and our actions take repercussions in others life.
    Forgiveness is not earned, somethings are that horrible that can be forgiven, nevertheless the ability to forgive this is what make us humans, is what makes bad people change to good people, rather than sink into the darkness.
    If you still choose to not forgive someone, that’s your right, I hope you live for that standard, and I hope that when you screw up, they don’t forgive you too.

    • @pokerface4396

      The problem is that "screw up" isn't the word I'd use here. Forgetting your friend's birthday? That's screwing up. Accidentally pushing someone off the stairs? That's screwing up. Scratching someone's car? That's screwing up. Repeatedly abusing helpless and vulnerable children, you were supposed to love and protect unconditionally? Pushing them to their mental limits? Turning your partner into some breeding horse and making her suffer? Ruining your son's childhood and making him emotionally stunted without friends or social connections? That's being a failure of a parent.
      Endeavor simply couldn't stop fucking his own shit up, even though Toya's death was a damn good reason to stop and realize how wrong he was. This is why some people don't feel bad about him feeling bad - he made his family feel much, much worse.

    It annoys me when people try to defend this monster. Saying he's "realistic" and "people change" that he "deserves his family's love".
    He bought a human to breed with - thats called a sex slave.
    You know who else is realistic? His children. Especially Toya.
    And for people who have been abused, for people like myself who relate to Toya and his siblings - no child abuser deserves redemption. Let alone forgiveness.
    Besides. If Endeavor genuinely wanted to atone for his buying a sex slave and abusing and neglecting his children, then he would have gone public with his crimes and turned himself in, rather than protecting his ill gotten gains. He still only cares about that number one spot.
    His cute little redemption ark is BS and honestly its easily to take it as nothing more than further psychological manipulation of his children.
    If you think that he deserves forgiveness you have clearly never been in the position of his wife or his children.
    Spoilers below:
    Dabi deserves his justice and a redemption arch far more than Endeavor does. Its entirely Endeavor's fault Dabi has done everything that he's done; he lit this fire in his son and drove him to he the point of insanity, only to rip the rug out from under him. Its no wonder at all that Toya snapped.
    Just as he was with Shoto's scar, Endeavor may not have been the gun himself but he was certainly the hand.
    He made Dabi. He is just as responsible for Dabi's crimes as Dabi himself.

Endeavor is responsible for their traumas but your actions are your own. No one cares about Hitler's childhood to justify his crimes because his actions were his own. Endeavor is an abuser and Dabi is a criminal and a murderer.

    • @Ares99999
      @Ares99999 2 месяца назад +1

      Nope. Enji, no matter how awful he was, was at the core a man broken and embittered by the loss of his eldest son, to the point that he lost sight of the rest of the family, caring only with 'beating Allmight'. Thanos was seemingly the genocidal extremist from a young age. Enji is also now tortured by his own misdeeds, and he tries to genuinely repent for them even though he's aware (and accepting) that he'll never be forgiven for it. Thanos feels some guilt but in no way lets that stop him from genocide.

    • @Otep1122

      @Ares99999 ok, but what does Thanos think of Endeavor, what will the Mad Titan say about him being a bad father of the way he treated his own eldest son toy, his other son Todoroki and the rest of his Family? P.S. I was referring to Comic Thanos, not MCU Thanos.

    (sigh) you know what aggravates me with situations like this? People trying to paint somebody indefinitely out to be a bad person because of the past. For one, if anyone was truly wise, mature and understanding you gots to look at both aspects of why a person may commit certain actions before judging them. Now I am not saying that what he did was just because no! Tbh endeavor has a lot to clean and clear up on his end when it comes to his family, but what I am saying is a lot of times peoples who may abuse their family or others is not necessarily out of personal gain or pure spite in some cases. Alot of time abusers were abused before by their own predecessors and past demons in this case that could be why endeavor turned out the way he was due to trying to up hold his family's name and honor. His father could have put him through the same abuse and that is all he knows when it comes to being a person, father, hero, human being and successor to his families name. People don't realize as a man society is more harder on them because due to some outdated traditional stand point men have to uphold the hierarchy and if they do or don't decides over all if they will be respected or not. From what I can see this has been endeavors whole purpose and motivation of being a hero he was trying so hard to out do all might that he forgot himself and neglected his family. Im just saying before people try to point fingers, beat up and be critical on others know the facts in full depths first. 🤷‍♂️
