In this Broadcast Award-winning, BAFTA and Emmy Award-nominated entertainment show, Taskmaster tyrant Greg Davies (Man Down, Cuckoo), with the help of his loyal assistant Alex Horne (The Horne Section and the show’s creator), sets out to test the wiles, wit and wisdom of five hyper-competitive comedians.
Comedians that have risked life, limb, and dignity in the hope of making the Taskmaster proud so far include: Frank Skinner (The Frank Skinner Show), Mel Giedroyc (The Great British Bake Off), Romesh Ranganathan (Asian Provocateur), Hugh Dennis (Outnumbered), Sally Phillips (Bridget Jones’ Diary), Rose Matafeo (Edinburgh Comedy Award Winner 2018), and Russell Howard (The Russell Howard Hour). Unaware of what awaits them in each wax-sealed envelope, only one competitor can become the victorious owner of His Royal Task-ness’ golden head and be crowned the next Taskmaster Champion.
The best bit is that even if someone had simply closed their eyes, I reckon there’s a solid chance they’d have stopped before Rhod
No.
Yes.
@@icturner23Rhod lasted over 7 minutes. I don’t think I could stand there with my eyes shut that long, especially because you’d never think you need to last that long to win. I think most people would assume they’d won it at 2-3 min
The way Greg immediately goes to check if she's okay when falling off the stage is so heart-warming and really shows the true side of Greg
He was just scared that he'll get sued.
@@mr_koko2070he cant get sued for someone falling of the stage if they literally walked off the stage without blindfold. He was simply concerned.
@@mr_koko2070 it’s not even Greg’s show
A task is named after her in season 12? Idk the one with Victoria and Alan, where the task involves rolling a wheel to crash dolls off the stage…it’s called the Knappet lol
@@ryeryeryerye I thought they actually named the long thin stagey bit "the knappet", no?
Bless you for including Kerry’s question about falling before Jess’s attempt, it just makes the fall even funnier 😂
Alex’s sassy reply, whilst wonderful at the time, didn’t age well a few minutes later 😂
@@TonyTheYouTuba To be fair, his reply stood up fine, she did manage. He didn't make any assumptions on the rest of the contestants.
"What happens if we fall off the stage?"
"Oh you don't have to walk blindfolded, you should be alright."
Jess - Proceeds to fall off the stage.
In the norwegian version of this task Rhods time would have given him 4th place, the guy who won in Norway accidentally broke the world record.
That's nuts!
Honestly, these ten minutes are simply iconic in Taskmaster history. From Rhod's not blinking tactic, to Jess falling off the stage, to Rhod doing that strange wheelbarrow walk with Alex. Good stuff. 👍
Rhod’s hand coming into shot to bash that drum makes me laugh so much, and I have no idea why. 😂😂😂
The episode is just iconic as a whole, it also features the worst prize task attempts ever (prior to series 10 of course), Phil's unironic finest hour, Rhod spending more time arguing with Alex on whether his chair was a ladder or not than doing the task (and still coming first) and of course, the extension disaster
Oh the final task being added was an unexpected treat. Easily one of Taskmaster's best moments.
Edit: oh and in a futute episode you can see they named the stage extension "The Knappet"
Jess may not have won this series but I’d argue with the stage extension name she has a bigger legacy than a lot of winners.
Best season of Taskmaster ever. Every single one of them was crazy in their own way.
"Please tell me you fell off" kills me 😂
I appreciate that everyone remaining still made an effort for the 'most magnificent walk' despite Greg telling them they had no chance of beating Jess
Especially Kerry’s! 😂
6:19 excellent foreshadowing
The best part of this is I get to pretend James and I are looking into each other's eyes.
the "Don't Blink" task is one of my favorites of any season of this show. any time i rewatch it i always wonder: what order did the contestants film in? i like to imagine that Rhod was the last person to record the task and Alex got to watch him torturing himself for 7 minutes while knowing damn well none of the other contestants got past 77 seconds
Even better would have been Rhod going first and Alex having to watch the rest knowing what kind of agony they would have to endure to even stand a chance of winning.
This is one of those magical tasks which sounds like it should be a non-event, but each contestant does something entertaining with it. And then there's Rhod (and Greg's reaction to him....) 💖💖💖
Now, do we think Alex intentionally dropped Rhod? There was decidedly less concern for HIS wellbeing!
"Here's for all the times you stripped me off!" 🤣🤣
They always say a truly great comedian can get laughs just from reading the phone book. Acaster took that to the next level by being laugh out loud hilarious without speaking or perceptibly moving at all. 😅
So did anyone else think of this:
"Don't blink. Don't even blink. Blink and you're dead. They are fast. Faster than you can believe. Don't turn your back, don't look away, and DON'T blink."
No.
That episode terrified me. I don't want to think about it!
The knappet origin story
"It's nice to know that Jess isn't the only one to get hurt."
Nowhere near as crazy as the Norway Taskmaster version that had one of Ylvis last over an hour. And we all thought Rhod was mad, lol.
(Needlessly, of course, because you could just have your eyes closed the entire time)
Dear God, I went to watch this because of you and I don't even know how to feel about it (for anyone curious, he lasted 2h47)
@Pok' l'Ours spoilers, but I love that he went to get a mcflurry halfway through because they had to shut down the studio for the day and he had to go home and feed his kid, absolutely ludicrous
I remember this. That felt humanly impossible. 😳😳😳
For those who want to see even crazier attempts, look for Kongen Befaler's "ikke blunk" task.
At 1:35 it looks like Jessica is singing the theme!
I would definitely have gone for the already-closed eyes - surprised no-one did.
Dont blink! The weeping angels will get you.
I would LOVE to see a season of fan favorite contestants!
Also, this is the moment that made it so the platform has been called the Knappett eversince
Boots without socks kept me awake for months when I saw this the first time, and no doubt will again after being reminded just now.
1:35 it looks like she's singing. Her lips synced to the sound of the weird background noise and i thought she was singing like an alien.
James got a real Blue Steel going on
Jessica giving big Overly Attached Girlfriend vibes in the blinking task.
In the Norwegian Taskmaster one contestant kept his eyes open for over two hours. He went on to make the song The Fox with his brother (they were both on the show)
What Does The Fox Say predates the original Taskmaster by two years, but yeah it is indeed Bard from the Ylvis brothers
I started not blinking on the whistle and made it to the end of the vid, give me my 5 points Greg
For the “don’t blink” challenge, they should have winked both eyes intermittently, open and closed their eyes for long periods of time, or simply closed their eyes! 😂 I’m surprised no one thought of the alternatives!
Blink:
“verb
1. shut and open the eyes quickly.”
“noun
1.
an act of shutting and opening the eyes quickly.”
What if you held your eyes closed the whole time? Update: they said it in the video
@@MissSparklez They referred to this later in this same episode. There was a task where Rhod spend some time thinking, and he had his eyes closed the whole time. Long enough to overtake his own winning time in the don't blink task.
@@theplasmawolf I must have missed that in the video hahah, he had the right idea!
kerry's counting goblin🕊
I'm just gonna tip the tears out...
Are you telling me that these British comedians, who are quite familiar with BBC content, heard "Don't blink", and didn't immediately go, "Right then, guess I'll stand here winking for like 10 minutes."?
These are some of the best little game tasks I've seen. Reminds me of Mario Party lol
@04:13 Rhod "Solid Snake" Gilbert
Rhod did better than I could, but he would have gotten smoked on S01E04 of Taskmaster Norway (KONGEN BAFALER) when the top 3 contestants came in at 21 minutes, 37 minutes, and 2 hours 47 minutes. Norwegians just don't have eyes???
For the blinking task, you could have continuously winked.
I’ve been doing this ever since kindergarten, thought it would be fun to play dead and not blink when my parents came to pick me up, i could probably go 4-5 minutes
Apart from the "closing your eyes isn't technically blinking" you could also beat this task by squinting your eyes then looking around. This ensures every part of your eye gets to spend time under your eyelid without closing your entire eye
or winking, one eye at a time! it's what i always did as a kid
Prediction or Manifestation ? Falling Off Stage.
I prefer to keep the eyes closed, as was identified as a winning move.
If not that, then to blink one eye at a time, which was hinted at, based on the behavior of another species.
If not that, then what Rhod did is the opposite of what you want to do. People are surprised at how long I can go without blinking, without even really trying. But when I try, it's not timed, but I tend to do well with staring contests...ever since I figured out what works and what doesn't, where what Rhod did shouldn't work as well, even if he outlasted the rest.
easy way to win this is to just zone out and not think about anything for a couple minutes 😎
While rhod is impressive and frightening, I am so much less impressed after seeing one of the guys who made what does the fox say keep his eyes open for nearly three hours on the Norwegian version
If I said that this was the moment I fell in love with Rhod, that would be a lie, because it was already the quick-change task that did it.
Oh joy!
I’d want to go last, and then just repeatedly hit the drum as fast and as many times as possible. One of the hits would possibly have been at the exact time stated.
6:18 : .....
7:12 : Hold my beer
Winking (like a hamster) would have been a sensible solution.
Two hours, fourtyone minutes. Norway.
I would have just closed my eyes... Can't blink when they're closed 🧠
Full episodes don't exist...
😭
.... when did Alex get spacers????
I haven't finished the video and i haven't read the comments but honestly... the objective is not to blink but never says anything about your eyes remaining open or closed upon the time starting. You could literally keep your eyes closed and the challenge is done with no effort.
Literally about 1 minute later I see that they say it.
You know that movie where Daniel Radcliffe plays a dead guy? I'm not saying James was robbed, but
Robot joe could have won this task
Is there any word on Rhod? Is he still in hospital?
How is Rhod Gilbert doing now?
The Welsh comedian said he is feeling generally better, having been through chemotherapy, radiotherapy and surgery since his diagnosis, and will continue to follow his “doctor's advice”, before returning to work.Feb 16, 2023
Back to work already:
"Production has begun on the delayed fifth series of Rhod Gilbert's Growing Pains on Comedy Central."
Winking isn't blinking right?
Do they not wear socks in Wales?
Having already seen the first task on the Norwegian version of Taskmaster, Kongen befaller, season 1, this was funny, but not impressive in comparison with what one of the Ylvis brothers did.
I don't give a rat's toss about the task! WHAT the! In all seriousness has Alex done?
PLEASEEEE let there be an explanation which can be taken onboard as reasonable!
The whole season is up on this channel, binge watch it and you won't be disappointed. None of your questions will be answered though.
I'm here early, I must say something profound......watermelon
The second I read the title of the video I immediately thought someone would just close their eyes and not open them so they technically aren't blinking. I'm disappointed in a show where thinking outside the box is part of the game that no one thought to do that.
I'd have winked one eye at a time.
Rhod worries me sometimes
He’s Welsh ! (And overcoming his cancer I hope).
He's a peculiar creature, for sure 🥰
You need to stop posting this as though Rhod did a long time. Even the third-placed Norwegian on ‘Kongen Befaler’ blew him out of the water.
are alex's ears real?
Nope.
The ears are real, but the lobes are not.
WTF did Alex do to his ears? He looks terrible. Why would anyone do that. It is sick
It'a fake. I noticed he usually mix it up with weird stuff in the studio from time to time. Another task I watched today, both Alex and Greg had a "rat-tail", (barely visible but I noticed for some reason) but it wasn't even mentioned in the video nor in the comments, so I am beginning to believe they do weird stuff just to see if anyone notices, so from now on, I will def pay attention :)
