- From series 13: Either tie a ribbon round the maypole or strike it with a ping pong ball. You must be properly blindfolded at all times and must never step beyond the rope. Fastest wins.

Judy trying to wrench the maypole ribbons out instead of using the balls in her papoose was hysterical.
How? I feel like she was trying too hard, Jim carry is great as an over actor. But I can't say the same thing here personally. Its the furthest thing from funny, but it could have been worse. Noel coulda been here making a mockery of the whole show again, those 2 imo are the worst. She intentionally walks away to the fence, if it was a mistake THAT would be funny but she did it on purpose.
Shes like a dad joke, probably only funny to other people who make dad jokes.
@@ravinraven6913 I didn’t think it was acting, so assumed she was literally trying to tie the ribbon around the pole until she remembered that she had the balls. Assuming it was just a bit probably would have made it less funny, but that wasn’t where my head went, so it was funny.

I get the impression they’ve been friends for a very long time. Makes for one of my favourite dynamics across the entire history so far
If bonus points were still a thing, Chris would have deserved one for accomplishing the task in a single shot

Are they not a thing anymore? I've really only watched the full seasons of the older episodes, so I didn't know that! Bummer!
@@kmarshirley they scrapped them after series 12 unless they're already built into the task (i.e. the 'largest hat and shoes' task gave a bonus point for the most stylish hat and shoes), and it's pretty obvious it's due to the insane amount of arbitrary ones given out in series 12, especially Morgana's 'little fucker' one.
Best throw I've seen since Joe's potato.
This is one of the examples that propelled Bridget into legendary status for me. Her strategy consisted of: Drop all of the ping pong balls, toss the papoose, feel around for a fence, locate another bloody fence, grab the rope and feel around for maypole with the ribbon roll 😂

@@Justinsr3 Where? I just watched it twice more and can't see any moments where she stepped over the rope - it's a little hard to tell for certain with camera angles admittedly, so not impossible, but there was nothing to suggest she definitely stepped over it was there?
@justinrawbone7811 played it back in slow mo just in case, and every time we can see her feet, the closest she gets is on the rope. When her feet are hidden by the may pole base, she appears to be quite a distance away from it, but either way, no way for the viewer to determine if she crossed it.
It's pretty much like Greg says at the end of this task: I didn't think it was going to be so exciting!

Ardal's "Yay!" is in such great isolation that it can be clipped, which is good cause it would make a great phone alarm
All I want in life is to watch Judy and Bridget in their own show. The whole cast is amazing, but those two are just on another level of hilarious chaos.

Chris won this series handily, but it was so much fun to watch because it always felt close and there were still bits like this where he got robbed
7:16 - Out of Context
Surely the chance of hitting such a small target (the angle has to be quite precise) is very tiny-- how on earth were they so lucky? Or is it just a skill issue on all the other competitors' end...
To do 10 spins or so blindfolded and then hit a pole from that distance, in 30 seconds or so, is kind of ridiculous especially outside with ping pong balls.
Its not really a tiny target if you never lose your bearings like chris (though that in itself is tactically astute). Sophies was the really impressive attempt here.
Your eggs shouldn't be out and about
a bit surprised, no one made the preparations before spinning around.
Also, they technically didn’t need to spin since it wasn’t on the task

Walk the pedestal and rope up to the pole before spinning, and after every spin tap a ball on the pole.
Between Sophie doing it fastest, and Chris doing it in a single shot, this task features two of the most impressive athletic feats in the whole show. Not only are they elite athletes, they are elite athletes at the top of their game.
Also it can only be admired, that for only 4 points, only being beaten by 8 seconds, Ramsey is totally on board with the scores, with no complaints. That’s a man who loves the sport.

They should have done five clockwise turns and five anti-clockwise.
And they should have alternated

@@thedunyadoneya2628 yeah but that involves counting which could waste time, you could just turn as quick as possible and ask Alex constantly for how many uve done
@@JustASkyrimHorse Is it not basically what you suggested? You could hold the pillar and just ask alex how many turns if you think that makes a difference. Counting is verbal though, dont think it would add time
Wait, they didn’t need to spin around. Since as Alex likes to say “everything is on the task” and spinning wasn’t mentioned on the task

Your feet are allowed to touch the rope and step on it. That was described at the start.

or the writers are and he doesn't have to do much...English humor is quite easy and doesn't really require any talent, just timing and even mistakes are viewed as funny. But I guess it takes skill to even be the village idiot, not that Alex is the fool but....

Didn’t she step over the rope at the end? How did no body spot that!!😂😂
Went in slow mo and from our perspective, she did not, she steps on the rope at one point but that is all, or her feet are behind the block where we can't see.
She took 2 throws, and he took 1. He deserves 5 points as well.
She also broke the rules and stepped over the rope multiple times

I think the task said you can’t step beyond the rope. It would seem touching is fine
And so did a few of the other contestants or did you miss the woman hugging the maypole somehow lol. It was don't step over the rope, not don't touch anything inside the rope (alex even demonstrated how stepping on the rope and with part of his foot over on the ground inside was fine).
Rules are rules. Hugging the pole is different to touching the ground.
