  • Recovered Footage from the head office in California (May 1993).
Sega Corporation is a Japanese multinational video game and entertainment company headquartered in Shinagawa, Tokyo. Its international branches, Sega of America and Sega Europe, are headquartered in Irvine, California, and London. Its division for the development of both arcade games and home video games, Sega Games, has existed in its current state since 2020; from 2015 to that point, the two had made up separate entities known as Sega Games and Sega Interactive Co., Ltd. Sega is a subsidiary of Sega Group Corporation, a part of Sega Sammy Holdings. From 1983 until 2001, Sega also developed video game consoles.
Sega was founded by American businessmen Martin Bromley and Richard Stewart as Nihon Goraku Bussan[b] on June 3, 1960; shortly after, the company acquired the assets of its predecessor, Service Games of Japan. Five years later, the company became known as Sega Enterprises, Ltd., after acquiring Rosen Enterprises, an importer of coin-operated games. Sega developed its first coin-operated game, Periscope, in 1966. Sega was sold to Gulf and Western Industries in 1969. Following a downturn in the arcade business in the early 1980s, Sega began to develop video game consoles, starting with the SG-1000 and Master System but struggled against competitors such as the Nintendo Entertainment System. In 1984, Sega executives David Rosen and Hayao Nakayama led a management buyout with backing from CSK Corporation.
Sega released its next console, the Sega Genesis (known as the Mega Drive outside North America), in 1988. The Genesis struggled against the competition in Japan, but found success overseas after the release of Sonic the Hedgehog in 1991 and briefly outsold its main competitor, the Super Nintendo Entertainment System, in the U.S. Later in the decade, Sega suffered several commercial failures such as the 32X, Saturn, and Dreamcast consoles. In 2001, Sega stopped manufacturing consoles to become a third-party developer and publisher and was acquired by Sammy Corporation in 2004. In the years since, Sega has been more profitable. Sega Holdings Co. Ltd. was established in 2015; Sega Corporation was renamed Sega Games Co., Ltd., and its arcade, entertainment, and toy divisions separated into other companies. In 2020, Sega Games and Sega Interactive merged and were renamed Sega Corporation.
Sega has produced several multi-million-selling game franchises, including Sonic the Hedgehog, Total War, and Yakuza. Sonic, Sega's mascot, is internationally recognized. Sega is one of the world's most prolific arcade game producers, with long-running series such as Virtua Fighter and Initial D Arcade Stage. Its name and branding are used for affiliated companies that operate amusement arcades and produce other entertainment products, including Sega Toys; however, these are largely separate ventures. Sega is recognized for its video game consoles, creativity, and innovations. In more recent years, it has been criticized for its business decisions and the quality of its creative output.

Man, I really miss the 90s! Defo the best years of my life! I started 90 at 16 and ended mid twenties. Great games, arcades, great friends, great girlfriends, great music (being a Brit during Britpop) great raves, great drugs, great Hot Hatch cars, great Hip Hop, The Prodigy (formed in my hometown) were putting out the greatest dance music that entire decade! Just so much, I had no real responsibilities until the Noughties and enjoyed life to the fullest but still wished I'd done SO MUCH more!

Best decade for music and innovation in games. We went from Altered Beast and Super Mario to Gran Turismo, Metal Gear Solid, and 3 million polygons/sec on Dreamcast and Voodoo cards, and even DVD and the PlayStation 2.

lol drug loser. The 90s started to suck as early as 1994. It was all over by then. There is no difference between 1998 and 2004

They seem to be QA testers rather than developers, specially considering Shinobi III was a japanese-developed game. Very cool indeed tho

Is my favorite all games, ever and ever. Its a really sad this series was not developed in next generations, like Final Fantasy and others JP-RPGs. PSIV was the last one (PS online is other game)

"Sega Corporation is a Japanese multinational video game and entertainment company headquartered in Shinagawa, Tokyo. From 1983 until 2001, Sega also developed video game consoles."
This is misinformation and is WRONG, CSK purchased and financed into buying "Sega" overall and it became renamed "Sega Enterprises LTD" HEADQUARTERED IN JAPAN!, that means there was NO OTHER "headquarters" of "sega", that also means that the different iteration of "Sega" that existed before the mid 1970s and before Japanese firm CSK involvement NO LONGER EXISTED and was NOT the same "Sega".
In 1986, the Japanese company named Sega Enterprises LTD Japan funded the creation of the SUBSIDIARY BRANCH named "Sega of America" to do marketing, Public Relations, distribution and fanbase support... It took longer to get anything organized in the U.K. and Europe because neither was "one entity" and initially all PAL SECAM region marketing, sales, p.r. and distribution was handled by pre-existing companies and due to the DELAYS due to the technological differences between NTSC J/U and PAL SECAM, the official U.K. and European launch of the Sega MegaDrive happened in 1990 which is one year after the North American launch and two years after the Japanese launch specifically because there was no official "Sega Europe" branch as that was not organized until a couple of years into the 1990s.
Btw Sony was a "Corporation", SEGA was NOT a "Corporation"
Hayao Nakayama was the president of Sega Enterprises LTD Japan who created the idea of not only having computerized arcade cabinets but also computerized home videogame systems to be launched begining in 1983 Japan with SG-1000, again in 1985 Japan with the Sega Mark III and again in 1988 Japan with Sega MegaDrive and then later in 1994 with the Sega Saturn as all of these home videogame systems were created, engineered and designed by Sega Enterprises LTD and NOT any outside subsidiary branch like how 90s Sega of America management created the 32X and put the pressure to create the Sega Dreamcast which killed then entire company into bankrupcy.
The "Sega" that made the home videogame systems existed in the late 1970s or early 1980s and CEASED TO EXIST after the year 2001, what existed afterwards was a "Sega" that was bought out by and merged with Sammy Co. but that "Sega" exists UNDER Sammy Co.
