Love those earlier REM songs. Fall on Me is so good. I’d like to pick up Dead Letter Office… very cool collection. I’ve lost track of how many copies of the original Blue Monday I have! Don’t have the other two you showed. My 12” collection is very limited, though I do like a mini album!
Like a dummy I only bought Skinny Puppy on CD. I was so surprised when I found out Skinny Puppy are from Canada. I don’t play 12” singles much but when I do I like hearing all the different versions of the same song.
“Then I removed the app because I was sick of it”…”But first let’s talk about The Cure”…”Why doesn’t The Cure like us?”…Pictures of You is such a great track. Always loved that one. My copy of Disintegration is on CD, and I unfortunately don’t have any 12”s. That Skinny Puppy artwork is pretty cool. I have a few but not that one. I always liked the music video for Love Like Blood…”It’s a bit too dancey for me, but that’s ok”…I have my original copy of that Salvation soundtrack. ✌️
Good news. The Cure record has arrived! I am picking it up this afternoon from my local. They even said something like thanks for your patience on this. Salvation is a gret soundtrack!
Fall On Me is such a great tune. That’s so bizarre about Cure LP not available in Canada. Always cool to see those old price stickers. cool stuff as usual Brian.
"Pictures of You" is an incredible cut from my favorite Cure album. It's classic Cure. Dead Letter Office is always an entertaining listen. I love their cover of "Pale Blue Eyes." It's a fantastic REM track. I agree, I don't care for those UK jackets. I do remember floppy discs. Great trio of New Order singles. RIP Quincy.
My kids once asked me to teach them how to use a rotary telephone! I wonder what they would say about floppy drives. I better not show them any because It will just make me seem even older 😔
Great addition to your 12" singles archive. I imagine that Factory kept re-releasing 'Blue Monday' in an attempt to recoup all the money lost on that brilliant Peter Saville-designed original sleeve. 🤣
Ah yes, I remember those floppy discs, Brian. Night Time is my entry to Killing Joke as well. As influential as it is, a little Blue Monday goes a long way for me. The 12" of The Perfect Kiss is my favorite by far. 😎🎶 Good stuff all around!
I let so many twelve inchers go when I had to move interstate many years ago.....they have the BEST sound IMO. I do have a dozen or so left....3 that I let go that I miss the most are Ghost Town (extended mix)THE SPECIALS....Skin Deep THE STRANGLERS and I Want Your Love TRANSVISION VAMP.......Great vid Brian!!
Skin Deep is one of my fav Stranglers tracks. That entire album is gold! I haven; thought about Transvision Vamp in ages. I'm going to listen to that now 🙂
Good luck finding the new Cure album. I should have probably collected 12 inch singles instead of 7 inch 45's as I still don't have a great storage option. I have that R.E.M. Dead Letter Office CD and did not remember them doing the Aerosmith track. I will have to give it a listen. That's a lot of Blue Monday. They need to cover the Fats Domino tune for even more Blue Monday. Cheers.
I can't image New Order covering Fats Domino so that probably means this is a brilliant idea! I keep telling I should have collected 7" singles, but it is too late now 🙃
I sometimes find on Bandcamp that albums are available in vinyl or as a download but there’s no CD. So I can relate to your frustration with the Cure album.
I don’t particularly collect these, but I do have some. I rarely play them but they are nice sometimes for those alternative versions or extra tracks. Would that be considered a “logo” on your hat? You rebel!
Yep…I’m having a hard time getting the new Cure as well- I caved and went all-in ordering the 2LP half-speed mastered version and still won’t get it until the end of November 🤨 I have so few 12” singles that I could probably review all of them in one go! Most of mine are Numan, PiL, and other 80s-ish stuff. I had no idea Quincy Jones had worked with N.O. Good eagle eye, Brian! 😎 Cheers-R
Well, the 2LP half-speed mastered version does sound nice! I just found out my local store just got 5 copies. I placed an order for pick up! On the other hand, it was $51 😢 C'est la vie, I guess.
Your first two records suggested to me what might be a good ‘top 10’; Ten mistakes on records. Could be wrong track listings, printing errors, recording mistakes etc. etc. could be fun, or interesting at least.
HP I'm surprised you lasted as long as you did with the Discogs app. You've had many videos extolling the non-virtues of it. People are losing their minds over the new Cure album. It seems to be readily available over here. Fall On Me is such a great song. Is that a portrait of your swimming bod on the Love like Blood cover? The film 24 Hour Party People has a funny scene where they realise that Blue Monday is going to lose money, but they think it'll be fine because 12"s weren't huge sellers 😂You, Harris Pilton & Me seem to be the few who dig the 12" Single. You two have a better collection than me. Cheers...Ben
I finally got a copy at my local shop. They are now sold out. I think it's good, but I need to listen to it again. My bod looks good, but probably not as good as that Love Like Blood cover 🙂 Now that you mention it, I vaguely recall that scene from 24 Hour Party People! Some people have no interest in 12" singles, which I find surprising 🤔
@ You’re so modest HP 😂 I find the non love of 12”s strange too. They usually sound pretty damn good & you often get interest stuff on the b-side. What’s not to love?
I love 7”s too, but I’m not sure they’re your bag. I have a little bit of regret that I never went back to Kops and spent an arvo going through as many of those basement 7”s as possible. I think I was a bit overwhelmed by the quantity 😢
I do want to start collecting some Smith 12 inch's youve inspired me to!
I encourage that! They are pricey, though 🙃

Dead Letter Office is surprisingly good. A friend of mine argued that it is better than Life's Rich pageant. It's close!
Like a dummy I only bought Skinny Puppy on CD. I was so surprised when I found out Skinny Puppy are from Canada. I don’t play 12” singles much but when I do I like hearing all the different versions of the same song.
Skinny Puppy doesn't really sound like a typical Canadian band, whatever that is 🙂
“Then I removed the app because I was sick of it”…”But first let’s talk about The Cure”…”Why doesn’t The Cure like us?”…Pictures of You is such a great track. Always loved that one. The Cure record finally arrived at the store closest to me! I got the last copy, it seems 🙂

Indeed. I wonder if they ever made the cash back? Probably not 😳
Very cool 12" 😲 New Order ones, the Cure, even a REM, fun to see these Brian.
Thanks, Morten. Maybe I have too many 🙂

I was happy to say goodbye to those floppy discs. I used them a lot! That makes me sound really old 🙃
@EmbryonicRobot I can say the same thing about myself 🙃

My local shop came through. They just got 5 copies, and I placed an order on one. I will pick it up today!
@ Oh, fantastic! I’m happy for you!
Hey Brian. Another great batch of singles! Bummer you can't get ahold of the new Cure album. Cheers
My local shop just got a small shipment! I should have it in my hands today 🙂
@ Excellent!
I don’t particularly collect these, but I do have some. I rarely play them but they are nice sometimes for those alternative versions or extra tracks. Would that be considered a “logo” on your hat? You rebel!
Rebel? Who, me? I'd call that a symbol of something cool. I do have a hat with a logo. Maybe I should wear it next time, if I can remember...

Ouch….the 2LP version set me back $57 after tax/shipping ($42 list price) …we shall never be rich 😬
Those are true words!

@@benrankins4446 Also, Kops is a good place to pick up some Taylor Swift records 🙂
