I had absolutely no idea these trucks didn't come equipped standard from the factory and needed to be "built" by an aftermarket facility. I don't recall ever seeing one used this way either. Maybe they just aren't popular here in and around New England. Where was this? It looks like the south.
Gregg - what was that mechanism for holding the big motorcycle? I'd want to carry a Honda Gold Wing instead of a Smart Car. What options are there for this? Thanks!! Love your videos - I'm still a few years away from this, yet, but it's fun to plan.
Good Eye! Those hitches are made by Comfort Ride Hitches. They are a very popular hitch folks consider for towing and protecting their larger 5th wheel trailers. Rick owns the company, and also owns a HDT RVhauler (with a very cool tilting deck). He is a frequent attendee at the rally events, and always brings a few hitches to the rally to show off his latest creations. Rick will often host a seminar to talk about hitches and towing practices.
Eventually I like to get into a HDT, if I can find a really low milage 880 and instead of having the hitch placed where you guys put it, I'd like to use the (Heavy Duty Automated Safety Hitch System) that I currently use with my F650
Can you drive 18 speed? I know where there is an 880 that just had a new rebuilt engine put in it. The 880s are essentially gone from the market, and finding one that is reasonably well maintained is tough. The definitely look awesome!
Why yes I can, lol.... I've been inquiring on a couple 2009 880's, 1 is a 13sp and the other is an I-shift on this site - www.usedtruckstogo.com/component/tlsautos/?task=listcontents&id=1007 - If they answer back in a reasonale time, great.... if not I'll look at getting another Kenworth W900 glider.
These are lovely friendly people .
Thanks for posting, Gregg. Almost like being there. Well, in the campground, at least.
See ya next spring...
Great video, made me feel like I was there.Good choice on the soundtracks too.
Hey Catman. Thanks for watching.

Your trailer is stuck on a plot! Doubt if it ever moves again...

Great video! When will the next rally in Kansas be? I'm interested in checking it out, thanks!
So what's the story on the truck displaying hitches at the 5:08 mark?

hi Gregg, I see a lot of tandem haulers, can those be operated as an rv as well, on a regular license?
