Not being defensive, just making sure you've met at least equal numbers of non-poly people and few to none of them looked funky. And if literally none of them did then that almost certainly speaks to a bias, but also speaking of bias: did you know these people were poly before, during or after interacting? And what do you mean by funky, to boot...no makeup? They often give a lot less of a shit about others societally held beliefs and expectations than your typical jealous type so that's no excuse for you to judge their appearance. Most people look weird to me unless they're like wearing minimal makeup and not overt celebrities etc, so I don't believe I have too objective of a view on this besides understanding loaded language and how much physical appearance affects...well, animals in general really.
Oh and to add onto that, I'd say I've met a pretty equal number of people who were quite attractive and fell on both sides. And to be honest the more attractive one is the more likely they seem to be cheating so, while polyamory is a legitimate choice, there are many avoidant, insecure and downright shitty people who use it as an excuse to have sex with multiple people to ultimately not address their own problems

This hit nail in the coffin on what our partners mental state was with our last and final poly that her partner went out of there way to get with me. They slowly started neglecting us both, treating us both like crap, eventually had multiple breakdowns that ended up with the two of us cutting the relationship off, and then after a physical altercation with my now fiancée that ended with me kicking them out of the apartment. Neither of us have trouble sleeping they were a big neglectful asshole that only got worse after I never gave them what they wanted from me and I was growing closer to my fiancée. We both shared some very bad history with our now ex and chose to just keep distancing our selves because they refused to improve themselves at all and would just sit on the computer all day being noisy with online friends while neglecting their own 2 partners. For the Poly Girls looking funky thing, I've seen a bunch of these girls turn Poly from high school. Here's my theory... These girls were unattractive through high-school until guys started to want to bang everything that moved. Then, those girls started realising that they could give pussy out for popularity. Then they got self worth from sleeping with multiple men. Then they started to get self confidence and foster their own "styles". But they were always weird unappealing, so their styles were just more of that. Deep down, they're still those girls and always will be. And if literally none of them did then that almost certainly speaks to a bias, but also speaking of bias: did you know these people were poly before, during or after interacting?
And what do you mean by funky, to boot...no makeup? They often give a lot less of a shit about others societally held beliefs and expectations than your typical jealous type so that's no excuse for you to judge their appearance.
Most people look weird to me unless they're like wearing minimal makeup and not overt celebrities etc, so I don't believe I have too objective of a view on this besides understanding loaded language and how much physical appearance affects...well, animals in general really.

Messed around with a girl like this once (one date, one night stand). She drove me around, paid for everything, and heavily insinuated she wanted a long term relationship. The first red flag was when we ran into some guy at a bar that she had planned a date with but had stood him up to go out with me. Poor guy looked crushed, and she just laughed at him and followed me outside where I was smoking a shame cigarette. After we did the deed she stayed up for hours swiping through dating apps right next to me in bed. She was leading dozens of guys on and saying some of the worst things to them that I'd ever seen. I asked her what she even saw in me since she was being vicious with far better men than me. Her repy? "You look dangerous." She dropped me off at my place in the morning and I immediately deleted every app she could find me on.

Don't let her be a reason you can't get out there and find decent people on an app. If her s**t escalates to crazy-town, you can try to get a restraining order. Also make sure all your (trustworthy) friends know about her existience and her bad behavior, so that you're not just alone in dealing with this. Again, it is not right for one bad apple to force someone off dating apps entirely.

Whenever their partner gets more action, they instantly get jealous and then try to close off the relationship again. This hit nail in the coffin on what our partners mental state was with our last and final poly that her partner went out of there way to get with me. They slowly started neglecting us both, treating us both like crap, eventually had multiple breakdowns that ended up with the two of us cutting the relationship off, and then after a physical altercation with my now fiancée that ended with me kicking them out of the apartment. Neither of us have trouble sleeping they were a big neglectful asshole that only got worse after I never gave them what they wanted from me and I was growing closer to my fiancée. We both shared some very bad history with our now ex and chose to just keep distancing our selves because they refused to improve themselves at all and would just sit on the computer all day being noisy with online friends while neglecting their own 2 partners.
