    Awesome video for several subtle reasons, thank you! Viewers please note Mr.Fix-A-Lot's not following direction in all cases is a huge improvement! I only wish I could have seen this video before I started mine. Here are some additional thoughts and notes I learned with my DIY of the same shower which I hope will add to Mr.FAL in helping others:
    1. I purchased the MAAX Cyrene from Menards for ~$750, about half the price of similar units. The store display model was very attractive with its 3D wall panels and the door frame/glass combination seemed much more solid than the more expensive corner units on display. Installation made me realize the 3D wall panels seemed too thin and somewhat flimsy to support the 3D design with air voids behind wall.
    2. I followed directions exactly, which was a mistake. Directions called for caulking and screwing the 2 assembled wall panels onto the base/pan before setting in place. This created a great deal of fitment, adjustment, and cured caulk failure (from flexing) problems for me, especially since my corner space was slightly off from 100% square and level. Wall framing was done to spec but required adjustments to make fit.
    3. Directions also called for mounting the fixed glass panel into the door frame before lifting/placing the frame/glass into place on the shower. This made no sense and would be much more difficult, this is when I searched again and found Mr.FAL's just posted video. Thank you for showing it could be assembled the common sense way!!
    4. Tips: In addition to floating base with foam, working some baby powder into spaces between base pan and the styrofoam filler under the pan completely eliminates all squeaking caused by the styrofoam (thank you other RUclipsrs). I found wetting the preformed silicone fixed wall gasket with rubbing alcohol lubricated it enough to easily slide/wedge into place between the fixed glass and door frame. Also, applying door & window expandable foam to unsupported air gap areas behind the 3D wall panels added a great deal of a solid feel and eliminated flexing when those areas were leaned or pushed on.
    Thank you again, Mr. Fix-A-Lot for a very informative video. With a few 'modifications' the MAAX Cyrene shower can be a solid and beautiful low cost shower.

    The squeak comes from in between acrylic and styrofoam.. Not the floor The "fix" is you have to try and get some cornstarch or talcum power in between the 2 layers.. It's tricky.. pry apart and do your best to spread some powder in between... NO MORE SQUEAKS.. It works like a charm.

    • @MrFixALot
      @MrFixALot  Год назад

      I'm sorry to hear that. I would first remove plate cover to access shower valve. Id see if the leak is in one of the connections at the valve. Most of the time it is. If it's not there, then I'd remove the flange to the shower head and see if it's leaking at the stem. If there is no Teflon it will leak. Lastly if you don't see the leak from those two areas, unfortunately the only way I can see to fix that is by removing it or cutting drywall on the back side of shower wall and accessing that way. Good luck.
