A great video that really hit upon the problems we had with this case. I'll be recommending your videos as a prelude to running any future cases :)

Thank you for this rundown. Especially the reference picture! Tonight we'll see how our motley crew manages to unwind the situation. My guess is I'll have to make them believe they forgot their dynamite as soon as I introduce Lester Goodmen into the scene.

That scenario break down one sheet is hella great. You should talk to Chaosium about making this a standard for all the scenarios that are published. If you want others to use it give the option of one with a white background so it is easier to print and read while running.

I would say this was my favorite scenario so far, including the ones in 7e's Starter Set, QS, Doors to Darkness and Mansions of Madness. Took me a bit over five hours to run, but I like to take my time with the suspense and conversation. My players loved the word puzzles, even if they're skippable, and told me they appreciated the fact that all the kamea magic stuff was real world occult stuff.

Yep, it will depend on the group, it is nice to see it based in reality, but ultimately I feel it isn't something that most players want to be lectured on in game. Afterwards it is very interesting to dig into however, and if it was a set up for a larger sequence of 1 shots, it would be give a lot of depth to continuing the idea and chasing the Shapeless One should it get out.

Amazing breakdown as always. I will be running the final for my group pretty soon. So far it's a delicious ride 🙌

Regarding the puzzle. I chose to rework the banishment mechanic so instead of having the characters just bring the existing "Bind" inscribed figures together, they had to learn that Veronica was mistaken and that to "banish" the Shapeless One they needed to inscribe the kamea Rune for "banish" on 3/4 of the figures. This does a couple of things. It shows that Veronica was not perfect in her interpretation of the texts and preparations. Littering the clues with this idea helps to provide some sense that the story the characters in the house are telling you is a lie and secondly provides meaning and purpose to the kamea puzzles. Coordinating the scratching off of the runes with re-inscribing the new "banish" Rune is tense. While our occultist Investigator was feverishly trying to figure that out as books and Evangeline harassed him, our other two PCs were going insane from all the Lesters and other strange events on the house, building up the tension and horror.
    Good fun

Even when zoomed in as much as I can, I can't read the text of the timeline. At some point, can you zoom in so that the various areas of your chalk board write up, are 2 to 2.5 times larger? Then I can pause, and read what you have written. Or maybe duplicate the text in the "More Information" area at the bottom?
    Warm regards, Rick.
