  • The plaintiff says he was holding a friend’s small dog in his arms when he was attacked by the defendants’ large dog. He claims he had to fight him off for a few minutes and ended up with medical expenses as a result. He’s suing for hospital bills and lost wages. The defendants claim their dog bit the little dog but not the plaintiff, who they say refused medical care at the time.

I live 45 minutes from where it was filmed, so I went to watch the People’s court between 35 to 40 times and what was really nice is while you were in the waiting room to go into the courtroom, they had tons of pizza and a full size refrigerator, full of soda and other drinks for free.
What was really nice was after each case, judge Milian would come out and talk to us, and she would ask if anybody had any questions. You could ask her about her life or legal questions, and I learned so much about the law, watching the cases and asking her questions and she is one of the nicest, down to earth, people I’ve ever talked to, and she’s extremely funny, but I do love her new show Justice for the People with Judge Milian but sadly, that one is filmed in California now.

My sweet Springer has been attacked three times by 2 different dogs including a 20 lb poodle, 100 lb Rottweiler - that bit me as well - and a "feral" cat (conveniently the gal/owner claimed, she was "letting it live on her patio and that it had just had kittens" my dog and I strolled by to go for her walk in broad daylight and the cat came flying out of the bushes. As she dug her claws into Bella's flesh you've never heard a dog scream til that scenario 😢😢😢..)
In each instance we were far off, minding our own business; my dog was ON her leash and both attacks, the dogs were off leash! only one of those three pet owners took responsibility and apologized.
By a miracle my dog wasn't injured even though the Rott bit her in the hindquarters twice, while I was holding Bella as high in the air as I could and then it jumped up and bit my arm; the massive bruise took 3 weeks to heal & I still have puncture marks but thank God it didn't get infected 😔

That being said, I understand how powerful of a dog she is. I also acknowledge that some people are afraid of her breed. I go above and beyond to make sure she’s secured at all times. I have an 8 foot iron fence around my front yard and an 8 foot concrete fence around the backyard. I double check that latch every time I open and close it. When I take her out she has her collar (and harness) on. I’ve seen too many dogs wiggle out of their collar. As dog owners (especially of dogs so large that they can cause a lot of damage) we really need to be more careful. Also, these defendants act like it’s no big deal. That’s pretty messed up. The potential for infection from a dog bite is extremely high. Dog bites inoculate bacteria deep into tissue, and, the majority of dog bites get infected. Common bacteria involved in such infections include Streptococcus, Staphylococcus, and Pasteurella.

He should have asked for an extra hundred for pain and suffering. He probably would have gotten it.

Just an FYI...no ER will stitch a dog bite due to the potential for infection.

Some pretty awkward moments in his one. The laughing defendant I don't find too creepy as most others felt. A lot was the language barrier. He may have been trying to communicate in a positive manner and it didn't come off right, as was the proposal. The intention was there but the result in both instances was a misunderstood train wreck. Being half latino, I witnessed my mom trying assimilate and communicate with some things being taken completely the wrong way. I can sympathize a bit with both parties here.

My poor grandmother gave up in frustration when she was at a department store (weeks after her immigration from Venezuela) after asking multiple attendants for assistance in finding bed sheets and continuously being brought to the restrooms 🚻 😒
In her little accent saying 'I needa sheet'. ☺😔
