I suffered sepsis and gangrene in my stomach. Unconscious in ICU for 9 days. I am still in hospital 14 weeks later.
I want to recognise the Doctors and Nurses that fought for me. What I remember is a nurse feeding me ice blocks one at a time. The nurse that refused to leave my side. The orderlies that moved me for dozens of scans. The ICU Wardle that clapped when I was finally wheeled out to recovery.
It takes a whole team to save a life. Thank you Epworth Melbourne.

I was n Last Stage of Sepsis & I ended up with endoCardiris & Pneumonia when I went n I hadn't showere bc I was too weak & I Got treated Badly ,the E.r people were Nice but The Floor people weren't.When e.r Did xray Discovered I had Pneumonia& was Gonna send me home but I told them I had a spider Bite & when they ordered Blood work Found out I was septic & Had sepsis on top of that it Had spread so Much it went 2 my Bladder n Went 2 my Liver & Kidneys & they were shutting Down so I was Admitted Dr Said He cldnt tell bc I wasnt acting all Crazy but when he did that Blood work it Surprised him, when I got up 2 my Room I was looked @ & a Nurse came n & I asked for help 2 get 2 a shower bc I cldnt make it on my Own, they Ignored Me & @ this time I cldn't Hold my Bowels front or Back & they Left me n it & as.I was throwing up I wld lose control & thats when Person doing my Test Knew I was Sick the Bed I came in on down for Tedting had got soiled & I was put Back on that & took up back 2 my room & was left n My Gown all.dirty& Nurse came.n & said.I smelled Nasty& I said I been Begging for some 1.to help me.& I.was ignored.after I was be littled that same Nurse came back n & made me walk 2.a shower knowing I cldnt Stand up so as I got n.showr I sat on Floor @ 1st a Chair but I was Dizzy n Cldnt stand & I took a.shower ..I was n the Hospital a month& sent Home with an I.v that I had 2 give my Self the Medicine& Clean it .....This is why I stay away From Hospitals....It has me Down & to this Day I feel I should have Died bc NoBody Cared enough 2 help me..but I was called a liar when a Dtr came n2 my Room everyday for 10 days & said this cld kill me bc there was no Change..a Visitor of mine said nurse said this wasnt Bad & I was basically Called a liar when n Fact they also Found out I had endo Carditis & I had a procedure where they put me 2 sleep & stuck some Wires down n2.the Chambers of my Heart are& Found Damage bc of the sepsis..So Now.I won't ever go back 2.Hospital..I have learned I don't Matter& I feel like a Nobody so Why should I care anyMore..So I.just deal with it
The First woman was in so much pain but when her son said “hi mummy” she still says “hi baby” and I feel like that’s a true mothers love. My mom had a grand mal seizure and walked out the house with paramedics n I cried cuz I saw blood on her face but she still looked at me and told me that it was okay and that she was okay. Later that day at the hospital she said she didn’t even remember saying that, let alone waking out the house. Her mom instincts showed even when she wasn’t mentally present ❤
I totally agree, there's nothing like a good mom. I lost mine two years ago to cancer, and 48 hours before she died, I was at her side while she was sleeping with tears streaming down my face. She woke up, looked at me and said "what's wrong, I'm worried about you." She knew she didn't have much time left, but yet she was worried about me! Now THAT is love beyond anything I can imagine. God bless all moms everywhere.

I know what you mean. My beautiful mother passed from CHF. She kept holding on for me and my daughter because my husband was battling cancer at the time also. I put on a brave face the last time I seen her. I smiled and said I'm ok. She knew I was lying. Mum's always know. She said "So it's OK for me to be with dad now?"
My reply " Someone has to keep and eye on the cheeky bugger. Give him a kiss for me."
That night she took her last breath.
I miss her and my dad every day but I take solice in knowing that they're together ❤️

Michelle I'm almost identical to your issues mine is stomach issues and appendix and gall bladder removed several picc line tpn and all its so hard and I feel for you especially when I got sepsis and had to have my picc removed then a new one I cried so hard im still fighting so continue to fight

Amen to that. I have a loving and wonderful family, I am very blessed. These folks remind me of how very blessed I am.
I'm so Blessed to be a part of a family like that. That includes my grandparents, parents, siblings, niblings, aunts, uncles, cousins, as well as my daughter, and my own grandchildren now too. Can you imagine how much better the world would be if everyone in it was a part of a family like that?

I don't know my family
My family is in heaven. My two adult kids have been going through stuff, and I hardly get anytime with them. Only two times last year, was I able to spend just a few hours with both of them. I'm hurting. but give my pain to God
The doctor who treated the first patient was so compassionate. You could even see the look on his face when the patient was crying from the pain. Unfortunately, because of the opioid epidemic a lot of doctors don't show as much compassion. Don't get me wrong, I understand doctors frustration with some people but too many of them dismiss patients with genuine pain.
many of the overdoses and deaths from fentanyl laced products have been people experiencing pain so severe and not getting help so they then get a pill thru a friend or family member who didn’t tell them or may even have not known either that the pill was laced and that’s unfortunately going to end up becoming the norm. Patients self medicating at higher rates then before because it’s more normalized to self medicate and or try a pain pill from a friend before going in and really getting treated due to the high rates of mistreatment and dismissal by medical services and the general mistrust between medical professionals it’s especially common among people who suffer chronic health issues n end up in severe pain like that often because a regular person wouldn’t be as educated on their own health needs and body when having a flare up with existing health problems and that only makes it more dangerous and upsetting staff are very cruel to patients when they have a long medical history because they either decide they have been seeking meds the whole time which is insane and ridiculous due to the fact personally I’ve had 6 years of charting and medical records to say all these different medical issues and severe conditions I had/have it isn’t made up and doctors need air in the side of caution with patients by treating their pain cause making their own judgement call even with tons of history is so so so dangerous your not playing god
True... I had the emergency room nurse tell me to shut up because I was crying out in pain. At the time I had uterine cancer that was in the muscle . She kept on asking me if I was using drugs too. I told her no,that's why I was there. They couldn't give me anything because the doctor on call wasn't available. He took almost four hours to get there. When they finally put me on the i.v's and the machine to monitor my vitals,my blood pressure was 320 over 180 . They gave me diulidad? and three shots of morphine before my pain level came down. .

If so I totally understand what you’re talking about, it’s barbaric the way they treat people who are actually in agony, my husband suffers from four bulging discs in his back and goes to pain management, the doctor only prescribes him tramadol, and at this point it’s pretty much useless, when he tries to ask her for something stronger, she just digs her feet in and tells him to stick with the tramadol, it’s like we’re in the dark ages, I’m so sorry that you were treated that way, and I hope that you are doing well and in recovery
This episode had me in tears!!! Bless them. I was diagnosed with stage 4 breast cancer after an emergency spinal surgery when my daughter was 14 months old. All she has known is "sick" mommy. When I was first told that it was cancer, she was toddling around the hospital room and I looked at her and could see her life flashing by before my eyes. I began sobbing and saying that I didn't want to leave her. She has been by my side every step of the way. If mommy hurts she brings me a bandaid and I tell her that she's made everything better! Because she has. Josiah reminded me of her. We need more people like Josiah.
I had sepsis two years ago, put me in the hospital for six days. High fevers then chills and almost took me out.
I had it as well but I stayed in the hospital for close to two months. I felt as if I had hot lava coursing through my veins. I would not wish it onto my enemies

I had pneumonia that turned into sepsis, scared the crap outta me because I didn’t want to die I had two little kids, they called everybody in my family to come in to see me, just in case I didn’t make it, I begged for Gods help and fought like hell. I survived. Thank you God❤
thank you modern medicine and doctors, more like. If you didn't have that and only prayed, you would be dead.

The boy who called the ambulance for his mom is so cute and mature. His mom is also a great mom did you notice she was whining and crying but when he walked in she immediately changes her tone and greets him like a proper greeting. She’s so incredible she puts her extreme pain aside for him ❤
I just battled Cellulitis Septic infection. Temps over 105. Pain, hallucinations from the fever, chills, 29 days in the Hosp acute care unit. Surgery to remove necrotic skin tissue and fat layer beneath the skin.Then rehab because of lost muscle tone, lower body strength. I almost died while the doctors fought to find the cause of the infection raging through out my body. It started with the flu. I am still learning to walk without support. I feel Michelle’s pain. I was on a regimen of 4 antibiotics for 24 days. I’m glad she’s alright. My family was my army.
Josaiah is an amazing boy. I love how he loves his mom. “ you don’t understand, the best mom in the whole entire world!” That’s a statement every mother wants to hear from her child no matter how old they are. Michelle has great parents too. Charley is a beauty, yikes.

The poor girl with sepsis 😢 I know how bad that makes you feel. You just feel like rubbish and there is not much that can help until the sepsis is under control 😢 my heart goes out to her and her family. I’ve been on the family’s side of things when my husband almost died from San Joaquin Valley Fever (Coccidiomycosis) a fungal infection of the 🫁 lungs that causes severe respiratory distress. Thank the Lord Jesus Christ he pulled through.
Michelle and Josiah (and the grandparents) are absolutely precious. Josiah has the sweetest heart. ❤ So wonderful.
This is the first time I’ve seen this show and cried for the patient. She’s in so much pain. I’m a chemo patient and when I get sick I just feel so awful and like there’s nothing I can do. I felt for her so much

When I saw Michelle punch on her back I knew she was in extreme pain. She’s a strong woman, beautiful inside and out. I pray her life will get better.

I developed an MRSA flesh eating bacteria infection while my husband was in hospital with serious surgery and I was alone in 2018. If a friend hadn't come over and broke in because they couldnt get ahold of me,I would have died. All I can remember was being so sick I couldnt unstick my body from the bedding enough to get up let alone use the phone. The last thing I remember was closing my eyes and letting the darkness swallow me I couldnt fight anymore. I wasin hospital for over a month and dont have any memory of the first 2 and a half weeks.

@swale6985 I hate to sound dramatic, but it scared and discouraged me more than I can put into words. I can't explain it but although I'm so grateful to God for letting me live, still after these 6 yrs I'm emotional about the experience. I don't feel I'll ever be the same.

I went septic several years ago. I suddenly spiked a fever of 104.4 by the time ems got me to the hospital it was 105.6 . I don't remember getting to the hospital or the 2weeks I was in ICU. I remember calling my mom to come check on me at home and her telling me I had a high fever and was calling for the ambulance.
Oh man so glad you are ok 🤗that seems so awful . That poor young lady suffers so much but keeps going what a strong woman.

I'm sorry you had to go through that but I'm so glad you are ok. I can't imagine how scary it must have been, or still is, for you to think about, especially when you can't remember it happening. A couple of years ago I was hospitalized due to extremely low potassium. I didn't remember until my husband told me that I was in ICU. I still don't remember all of it. I only have snapshot image memories.
When I was 16, I became septic from an undiagnosed kidney infection. My fever was 104.7 by the time we got to the hospital. I couldn’t walk. I was in the hospital for a week and a half on IV antibiotics

This episode makes me miss my parents. There were 9 of us kids that had to share time with mom and dad. My parents were fantastic about making individual time for each of us. It could be 5 minutes each day or more on their days off work, but we always had their full attention. With me and my dad, we were the early to wake up in the family. I got about an hour each morning with my dad before he left for work, and everyone else woke up. We just talked. I was 22 when he died, and I was 28 when mom died.
I was about your age when my parents died too. I was 24 and I miss them to this day 45 years later 😢

It made me miss my mum all over again too. She died when I was about 12, so I don't remember that much. I do remember cuddling into her dress, and that is one of my most special memories.
I think I'm going to give my dad an extra hug tonight.
I have chronic respiratory failure, and I've been on life support 20 times. I also have 2 central lines in my chest, and when one burst, I ended up with sepsis. I fought for 2 weeks outside of the hospital, and then finally, my body grew too weak. So, I told my dad to take me to the ER, where i was instantly rushed back, and they worked on me for 10minutes and decided nothing they were doing was working, so they intubated me for my 20th time. I spent two weeks on the vent and over a month in the hospital. If you ever think you may have an infection with a persistent high fever, go get checked!

@@Liahs333 I know, my mom was one of them that didn't, in 2021. Somehow I got "lucky", if you wanna call it that, to make it off the first time, because I nearly didn't. The 20th time took 5 months to recover from, and im still dealing with the effects. I've almost had to go back on two more times, but thankfully I was able to fight enough to not be intubated. Chronic respiratory failure is absolute pure torture, and hell that I wouldn't wish on anyone.

Do you see the difference with how the doctors treat their patients and how doctors over here treat you.
I had sepsis a few months ago and had my mom take me to the ER and went into septic shock at the hospital, I had necrotizing fasciitis on my left side ant my left breast and they had to do emergency major surgery, I was unresponsive for 12 days I woke up with a breathing tube in and my hands tied down....so here I am in the hospital now and they had to do another major surgery they amputated my left leg cause of the same thing necrotizing fasciitis and I'm getting 6 weeks of antibiotics hopefully it will get it all outta of my system... I'm 3 hours from home cause they air lifted me in a helicopter to a more equipment hospital... I'm hoping to be going home soon I miss my 6 year old daughter, my husband and my momma ❤
I have just been through the same exact thing with Cellulitis Sepsis. 29 days in hospital, antibiotics ,(4), surgery to remove necrotic tissue in my right upper hip and groin, then rehab to start gaining lower body strength, 26 days flat, in bed. Home now. Scary experience, almost died from temps over 105.7.

Big hug to Michelle. As a severe Crohn's patient sepsis sucks and is so painful. I have had this and necrosis before and it is just the worse pain. Such a beautiful family and strong souls. Prayers and hugs from Denver from Crohnie warrior. Going for my 19th surgery this spring and will be losing the rest of my colon. I will need da PICC or Hickman for it. So lots of hugs sweet ones.

This is what I notice here. The Doctor's over there are willing to give them strong pain medications and even more to keep her comfortable. Here the doctors treat you like an addict or they will say we will give you something after we get your test results back.
Noticed this too! Good on that doctor in this video treating patients PROPERLY, like HUMANS!

I had diverticulitis and perforated. My bowel I went septic had to operate right away. They did colon resection after they cleaned out the contents that leaked into my stomach gave me an ileostomy bag which I had for five months. It was the most discomfort and pain that I’ve ever felt in my life. I was lucky enough to have a ileostomy reversal. I know exactly firsthand with this lady went through by the grace of God I’m alive today.
Josiah is a proper angel, sent to look out for his mum ❤and grandparents.
I was bitten by my own cat at a Vet visit. I cleaned it up, smoothed some silvadene over it and bandaged it. About 4 hours later it was stiff and very painful. I wanted to wait until the next day as I already had a Dr appt. Well I ended up being convinced by a nurse to go in. When the Dr pulled the bandage off the sepsis was nearly to my shoulder. He said if I had waited it woukd have reached my heart. Always see a Dr

Watching Michelle’s family and hearing her mother’s fears just made me tear up as I’m in the same situation. My daughter hasn’t had an easy life either. She was born 12 weeks early, had heart surgery at 3 days old, and ended up having very poor eyesight as a result of the prematurity and is legally blind. At 15 yrs of age she was diagnosed with hypothyroidism and polycystic ovaries. Everything has been a struggle for her. She was teased relentlessly through school because of her eyes as they don’t both point in the same direction, and she carries a bit of weight. I wish people could see the amazing, loving and selfless person she is instead of just seeing her physically. She couldn’t have children of her own, so she is a foster mum, and a damn good mother. We’ve fought for 4 years to save amputating her lower left leg because of infection, and just 2 weeks ago she ended up having the amputation done. I’m so proud of our little boy who is only 6, but has the compassionate and loving heart of an adult. (We’ve had him since 3 months old) People comment about his understanding and compassion all the time. Good luck Michell, I hope you get stabilised soon 😊

I have a PICC line, I’ve had it for around 5 years. I’ve had sepsis 4 times, 3 of which were in the first 2 years. I hated that I needed the line, I didn’t want to take care of it. It was my fault. The last time it happened was last year, I was taking complete care and responsibility, doing everything I could to be sterile, but mistakes happen. My PICC has saved my life, but the risks are very real and sterility and safety are the most important things that you will ever require if you have one.

Oh my gosh! I have a similar condition - SMA syndrome-with severe stenosis. 4 surgeries later and they still can't " fix me". I have 4 stents, 3 coils, and a large patch that closed up my Celiac artery for life. It's so rare of a condition, that I am a case study at Baylor heart hospital in Dallas. I have a 5th surgery coming up soon, where they are removing my spleen. They have no idea how I have survived this far. When I get the pain, I lose consciousness! It is the worst pain I have ever felt! ( I've had two babies! Both of them difficult and painful) this had all been caused by scar tissue from when my appendix was ruptured for 3 days. The sepsis and infection in my abdominal cavity was bad, I almost died. I've had sepsis 3 times, now. One did start in my IV line. I've had main lines/ ports in me on several occasions. I've had that tube in my abdomen with the little bag that drains me. They've been talking about PICC lately, because the ischemic episode and insufficient blood flow to my organs/GI tract causes malabsorption and malnutrition. I'm severely anemic and literally starving to death, down to a size ZERO. I sometimes wish I would just die, but my family would be devastated. The pain is unbearable. @@susanandrews3859 I wasn’t being responsible with keeping sterile when changing the dressing. I was young and in denial that my health was that bad. I learned from my massive mistakes and now do everything in my power to keep sterile and clean when doing anything with my line

Oh the same as mine, I felt extremely cold and shivering. It was sepsis from UTI. The doctor is feeling the pain of the patient. A display of true compassion.
My daddy had srptis & they said it come from uti! He went hosp becaz he fell & was weak & passed 2/29/24 with sepsis, I’m heartbroken 💔! I feel he got sepsis at the hospital
May I ask had you experienced a lot of UTIs or bladder infections or kidney infection bc I guess when you have a uti it could be any of those thing kidney but I’ve been seeing a urologist because I get them so easy and I literally don’t know how or what the hell is going on and it freaks me out that I have sepsist gonna get it or something because I get them too often and don’t know what’s going on or I’m a clean person so I don’t understand as we speak but my question to you is did you experience a lot of UTIs and we’re looking into them like getting or seeing a specialist or was this one that came along and you didn’t have any symptoms or no?
I’m a multiple septic shock survivor. I can feel her pain just watching this. The longterm damage that I have received to my body and brain is a daily reminder. Sepsis is slowly getting attention here in Australia but not fast enough, there are still far too many people sent home from hospital to die 😢
I've gone septic 7 times in 5 years. Sepsis sucks. A combination of multiple severe autoimmune disorders plus the medications to treat them just make me very susceptible. Even a cold can send my immune system into overdrive, attacking pretty much everything it shouldn't, allowing the virus or bacteria to run amok. So much fun.

As a fellow autoimmune sufferer (though currently only 1), you really end up with a love/hate relationship with the meds don't you? On the one hand they reduce my pain and make it so i can kinda function through the day (though may have to possibly switch again), but that comes at the cost of becoming more susceptible to infection (among other unpleasant side effects). I haven't had sepsis yet but in the 2 years since diagnosis, i've now been to ED twice (were i had previously been pretty healthy).

I went septic after a surgery where they caused a hematoma. It was painful because the hematoma was increasing in size and painful. They drained the hematoma and I was in the hospital for almost a month. I don’t have a spleen so I was in the ICU for almost a month. When a fever gets so high it’s hard to function or even think. The shaking is violently. Michelle sweet mother and son really were amazing.

I have tears in my eyes, watching the young women with sepsis. My husband had a pic line for his knee infection which was not taken out in time and became septic, the scariest thing ever!! He shook so much from fever his defibrillator fired! When he got to the hospital they still were unaware that the pic line was the source of the infection and didn’t take it out until he started convulsing again in the hospital days later.
That’s the first place I would look..they are known well for serious infection
Bless that child for being so mature and supportive to his mum while she fights sepsis!! He is so understanding and a true rarity amongst most children. 🫶🏼
What a wonderful family Michelle has! I felt so badly for her. A young woman with so many health issues who deserves a much better life. Josiah will help her.
I used to work in a hospital med rec office. I didn’t understand what sepsis was until I worked there and was stunned seeing how many people actually died of sepsis. The amount of those who died of sepsis almost neck to neck to those who died of heart related diseases, cancers and pneumonia. Pretty scary stuff for sure!

I was septic in 2015 & truly thought I was gonna die! After much prayer, God brought me back from the brink of death! The recovery took several months & didn’t get my energy back for about 6 months.
Thanks to this documentary. My parents and i watch it (old episodes) nearly everyday on this channel. I had a recurrent stroke last tuesday and my parents rushed me to the A&E as fast as they could. And thanks goodnes my stroke was just a minor one.
I had a body temp of 105.1 degrees and was actually hallucinating. I was septic AND hemorrhaging at the same time. A normal hemoglobin count is 11-13, I was a 3 and needed 6 blood transfusions and IV antibiotics for 31 days in ICU. Nearly died.
Hallucinations and dreams still linger in my mind from my sepsis and fever 105.5.. so lucid and scary

I was septic for 12 days before my stubborn ass sought medical help.
It eventually turned into endocarditis- a battle for my life that could have been avoided by seeking medical care sooner.
So many moms in here with their kids and so little father support. Been there done that, it’s so rewarding, but it hurts. Good job to all the real parents ❤🫡
i had sepsis last spring. i wasn't even in the ICU and it still took months to recover. the fatigue and dizziness were unbearable. i feel so grateful to have gotten throughthat.
I wish my siblings & I could gave grownup with such openly loving & gentle parents...These children are so very fortunate...I wish I could have hugged them all...Josiah is such a darling, *sweet,* little boy...God bless them all...🙏🏻

I am also a sepsis survivor (different cause though, mine was peritonitis from a perforated bowel, I had to have emergency surgery). No matter the cause it is absolutely one of the worst things you could ever experience. It happened when I was 11 y/o and I was lucky enough to come out mostly unscathed. Seeing her on that bed brings back some memories.

Sepsis is terrifying. I’ve been hospitalized with sepsis 9 times and 2 times I went into full blown septic shock. A doc stood at the end of my bed telling me if things didn’t turn around he would have to sedate me and intubate me. It was terrifying. Another time the doc wouldn’t listen to me, didn’t show any concern with my central line steadily leaking blood, and all he wanted to do was have the nurse change it and send me home. He didn’t draw baseline labs and refused to order blood cultures when I begged him too. By the next morning I had puss and blood just pouring out of the site. We got to the hospital I had a 105 temp and a potassium at 1.9 which is insanely dangerous. Had the doc the night before taken basic labs he would’ve seen how bad my electrolytes were and blood cultures would’ve already popped positive. He was a horrible er doc. Sepsis is scary beyond belief. But, when you have a central line and a history of sepsis you tend to know your body really well and can get to the ER before it’s an emergency and sepsis teams come down. But, when I get a fever I don’t mess around with it. Now that I’m a single mom it can be so hard to find a doc to work with me because of my complex medical situation.I’m so blessed to have a team that doesn’t drop me when I can’t come in because of my child.

Here in America. They tell you, first off, they don't give any narcotics for pain. If you have no insurance, you get sent home and told to take Tylenol.
Insurance has a lot to do with it too because I'm on Klonopin I have my surgery they're going to give me Tylenol because my insurance claims that they will not get me any pain medication
You’re spot on. If you don’t have insurance, then you’re not a patient or human being…you’re someone who needs to get the hell out of their facility for someone else who is a guaranteed profit margin. What I don’t understand is how and why Obama came up with Obama Care (mandatory that each person in the country has medical insurance). In fact, it’s one of the main portions of significance when you go to file your taxes. However, I have met several people who don’t have insurance. I thought if they fall into a category where they can’t afford to pay for private insurance (My husband and I pay over $1200 monthly because we’re over 50 and self employed). I know that people who work for a company or organization, they have the opportunity to get much more reasonable rates and plans, but with the inflation and other nonsense that doesn’t explain why we are paying $5 for bread and $5 or more for a gallon of milk has made it where people, middle class as well, can’t afford to insure their family. After you get past that ridiculous nonsense, the way people are treated if they come in to the ER or a walk in clinic, in severe, agonizing pain, they have to look at their computer screen and look up the electronic records they do have access to (I found out that different hospitals don’t share their patient records because they want that patient to be at THEIR facility) (which completely is contradictory to the whole point of electronic patient records) and then they look at you, and god forbid if you have piercings or tattoos because if you look like a druggy, you’re definitely there seeking narcotics. You’re totally at the mercy of the nurse or doctor you get and they’ll decide if there’s really something wrong with you and if it warrants pain relief. The government and healthcare should be separate entities and doctors shouldn’t feel pressured by government workers (who have no medical training or knowledge) who may drop in and audit their practice and question their care of individuals. I am very confident that if a doctor passed med school, and the other 4-10 years becoming a neurosurgeon or oncologist for instance, that they are competent of determining if a patient is faking a condition for pills. When people are put last and doctors are too wimpy to be firm and stand behind their decisions for patient care, this is what happens. This is how people end up as drug addicts because they are never treated with dignity and compassion and they can get predictable relief from some low level drug dealer. The US is awful and the amount of surgeries that aren’t necessary but done purely for the money is about how everything works here.
I dont totally disagree with you, but Hospitals are a Business. When I had to go to the ER, I was put in a Hallway, treated in that hallway, and 9 hours later, they sent me home. I am over 50 with Basic Med Insurance. I was sent a $3,000 Bill. I am my own Advocate for every Bill I receive. I negotiated it down to $295. Health Clinics are set up with sliding scale for payment if you have no Insurance. Many dont. My Doctors are Specialists and some have started to take private pay only. I had to cancel 2 appointments because its unaffordable. I am Disabled but when I worked for 30 years and paid Taxes on that Salary, I always thought, I will just save enough for good Health Care IF I need it. I have and I fight and so far, my Medical Team has worked well with me, but their Billing is Astronomical.
My Insurace pays 80%.
Yes, everything costs more these days, but would you move to a Country that takes 50% of your Income, wait months for that Free Health Insurance Appointment and
another 15% for the Free Education they supply.
If not for this Disability, I would be living in Costa Rica. POV.
This is so true. I get diverticulitis every often. I have had it 2-3 times a year since I was 24. I’m now 42. And even though they can clearly see my history with it, they make me get a CT scan every time. Which brings up a completely different issue. I’ve had so many CT scans that it gave me cancer. I have literally had 103 CT scans. So they have no problem with me risking cancer every time, but treating the pain? Too much to ask for.

Two serious situations and yet the third made it hard for me to grasp that a much needed bed and staff were taken up by a teenager with a stuck earring part. Totally wasted resources on a situation that could have been seen by a GP.

I truly understand what the Mom is saying about in front of your child you have to show courage and support with strength. My 38 yr old son has renal failure who's on dialysis. Behind close door I cry and beg God please stop my son pain. I know her fear of the what if? So my prayers are with Michelle and her family to continue to fight. #BestMom as her son says ❤

5000 people die from Sepsis in Australia 🇦🇺 every year. I was nearly one of them, I was intubated and ventilated in ICU severely septic in multi organ failure, from pneumonia, I arrested ( best place besides Resus) if you are going to do it. Luckily the road crew were too scared to move me… ( too hard to find a blood pressure) luckily MICA nearly blew their truck up getting to me , one of them took one look at me and said she’s severely septic… didn’t get caught up in the fact that I am a Type I Diabetic and getting me to ED Resus. I remember absolutely nothing of that whole time, from the afternoon before and until I was extubated. Now been Septic 7 times. My young daughter has saved my life twice now because I was so confused and off my nut. I have a TShirt with Fearless written on it. A Dr in hospital asked me a while ago if I was. My reply: After being in ICU, farken to right I am. It’s a great admission if I don’t end up in ICU.. grateful for the little things 😂
WOW! That makes my sepsis story sound like a picnic. I had a kidney stone stuck in the uretor. Meaning all of the urine in one kidney doesn’t come out at all. My fever got to 104.6. Finally went to the hospital.

I got dilaudid for a severe migraine. This was about 6 months ago
I take morphine four or five times a day. I can’t physically function without it because my spine is such a mess.
This hits home. On 12/19/16 I was found by my now ex in bed laying in my own vomit with a fever over 105 (40.55 C) and he called 911 and I was off to the ER. I had severe sepsis due to a line infection. I had a port that was infected as well as a UTI. I was admitted to the ICU and after a lot of IV antibiotics and a bunch of other meds including IV pain meds and electrolytes and fluids and so on I was scheduled to go home on 01/04/17 but that didn’t happen because I ended up with another high fever of over 103 and a low blood pressure, high heart rate and low pulse ox. They thought I was septic again but it wasn’t. This time I was in full renal failure and I didn’t get to go home until 01/16. That port was removed in the ICU and I now have a Hickman line which is also a central line similar to a PICC line and a port like I had and so far so good. It will be 5 years old in July but sepsis will always be a threat to me
Michelle has such a wonderful family, especially her mom. I know what it is to go through trauma and heartache, I went through horrendous stuff with my daughter about 12 years ago and it tore me up so badly that my heart stopped - literally!
Sepsis with multiple organ failure was literally the sickest and most terrified I've ever been in my life. Never seen doctors and nurses move faster than when I walked into the ER.
0:28 I felt my heart rate going up with excitement just at the beginning of this video! I worked ER, and ICU for many years, and I loved it!! I became disabled in ‘06, and not being able to work has been such a loss to me😢

Wow, this scares me to death! I am a 67-year-old woman and live with my adult son. In Nov. 2022 we had to move out of our home of 17 years due to new owners. I had several times of strange sickness...several times severe shivering and being cold...violent vomiting (sometimes I would throw up several days' worth of food, sometimes bright green whatever!, and by Jan. 2023 I began to have episodes of hallucination. I also had very severe cataracts so people thought I was just talking about my eyes and the fact that I didn't see well. No, I was seeing actual people in my closet and because of those people I totally destroyed my room. I ripped the fronts off of my dresser drawers...it was really weird. I had a cough that never really produced anything. Sometimes I would cough up just a small amount of yellow foamy stuff. On June 10, 2023, I woke up not feeling quite right. I have a mound of medical issues, so it's like does it feel like this or that? Within a few hours of waking and coughing, I had my son beating my back so hard that I had a cracked rib from it. Finally, he said that he HAD to call an ambulance. They came, not happily. They insinuated that I just wanted a ride. My son said there was NO way he would risk driving me. I could not believe how quickly they took me into a room! All these people were running around, coming in and out...THEN the main doctor told everyone to be quiet. She said, " Deb, I need to know this...do you give permission for me to crack open your ribs to save you if needed?" My pulse rate was 158 per minute! It really made me understand that I was very sick! Even so, I figured I'd be in a day or two. I was in for 10 days, and 8 of those days with a chest tube placed through my back and into my lung. I had severe pneumonia and sepsis in the lower lobe of my L lung. Part of the problem was that it was a huge glob of icky, sticky gunk and it was not breaking up! The doctor one morning told me the next step was surgery, but given my age and health, he really did not want that. You know, I see my doctor for a physical every June and this was missed. As my son was beating my back, I was actually suffocating before his eyes. Well, I have carried on way too long, please forgive me. I was just shocked when I saw and watched this. Take care of yourself and those you love.
Its so beautiful to see a doctor still cringe when they see their patients in pain. Most doctors are like robots and keep the emotions down but its refreshing to see a doctor still care on a humane level ❤🙏
Going through septic shock was such a crazy scary thing for me in the hospital for weeks couldn’t eat, drink, talk, walk, got super pale and skinny, wasn’t even in my right mind I couldn’t even comprehend anything I’m so happy I got through it and got treated and didn’t have a fatal episode I wouldn’t wish this on anyone ! 💔

My husband became septic a year ago, so so very sick , but no fever , they never told us why he became septic a wbc of 25.7 and no reason as to why, all they ever stated was that he was full of inflammation in his G.I tract, but no reason as to why. I pray it never happens again, it was a nightmare.
My abdomen is identical to Michelle's. I've had several surgeries to my abdominal region. The scars could appear unsightly but it gets to the point of not caring what it looks like, you're just glad to be alive.
