I mean, the creators of the show purposely tailored the characters to the actors. Even physically. Look at Malory Archer compared to Jessica Walter, for example.

Most voice acting is just that. The actor was cast because of their talent and because their voice fit the part. Something like the Simpsons is kind of an exception.

@@davidkeeton6716 lol no not at all. There's only a few that use their natural voice. H Jon Benjamin and Patrick Warburton are the only ones that come to mind, maybe Justin Roiland now that he's become more popular.
The most sought after voice actors are the ones that have crazy range or can do very difficult voices. Mel Blanc, Billy West, Tom Kenny, Dan Castanella, Troy Baker, etc.

However, I'm starting to think he was lying when he said that because I've literally heard him use no other voice in any other interview.
James Gardner He's a voice actor, which means he has to do it all the time. I'm sure it's second nature now. No one wants to hear a different voice when he's interviewing

Voice acting is still *acting*, at the end of the day. A briefcase of funny voices is like having a bunch of different puppets. Those bodies still need to act. H. Jon succeeds because in front of the mic, he's a good *actor*, period.
Some voice actors are great they have amazing range with their voice. Others are great because they have tremendous acting range with just their voice

How can you watch a voice?
He's just got such a distinctive voice. He's been a supporting voice actor for a number of my favorite shows for decades, so it's strange, and wonderful for him to be the lead character in two successful shows.

I started liking his work around Lucy the daughter of the devil it was an under rated show I liked it but not very many people have it a chance and episodes were really short

I mean he also has an incredible wit and constantly surprises people in the booth. "Clearly you didn't read the script beforehand, but that is way better than the script so now we have to change it" is a paraphrase of the Venture Bros team.
Oh for sure, it’s not his voice alone, but helluva gift regardless.
I find it funny, that Jon comes to voice recording sessions unprepared and doesn't know the script... just like Archer never reads the mission dossier (and he claims he had "skimmed it", even though he didn't even do that).

nah, he skims it sometimes but usually gets info wrong. Like the mountain climbing episode where he "skimmed" it and knew that the assassin was a member of the axis party (except he wasn't he was irish who were neutral)
Yup. As soon as he described himself as 'notoriously unprepared', I knew that the creators of Archer cast more perfectly than even multiple seasons of perfection themselves suggested.
