Best Review of the Tenere 700 out there. No bullshit talk, just straight , usable infos . Thank you very much for your good work. Greetings from Germany.
Black/grey/yellow version - high fender kit - black soft bags - camping gear - black bark buster hand guards - after market exhaust - and I’m off into the sun set.
@@carlosandleon Increased wheel travel needs increased space for the wheel to move. If you're referring to the front fender, usually it's to prevent the occasional mud caked from tearing it off, or locking up the tire from moving.
@@exothermal.sprocket Yeah, i meant the front, but considering you can heighten the low fender on the tenere i think a high beak fender is not necessary on the tenere 700. Dakar bikes have also sported low fenders so beak fenders really aren't necessary at all.
@@carlosandleon Whatever it takes to keep dirt from damaging the radiator, caking up on the tire and ripping the fender off or stopping the wheel, or zinging into the air and blowing up all over the rider....
So unusual: you found some aspects of the bike that aren't perfect. The other reviewers should be embarrassed. Thanks. The detail that you went into was incredibly valuable.
So great to see a straight to the point and unbiased review! So many "reviewers" these days seem to be afraid of pointing out any compromises or anything remotely negative out of fear of not being invited to future events.
Many so called reviewers these days are just free loaders with their own agenda of self promotion in this ' look at me, look at me' generation and no real reviewing skills or ability to dissect and verbalise a bike's pros and cons. Brake magazine is the exact opposite of this, by far and away the most professional, unbiased, articulate and accurate reviews I have come across. As someone else already mentioned in the comments, you can almost feel the way the bike rides from listening to the review. Well done Brake Magazine.
You set the bar for detailed in depth brutally honest journalism. I will only look at buying based solely on Your evaluations ! What a great channel you have. Thank You so much.
I think the Yamaha team was very smart to offer the Tenere 700 in this foundational package to start with an eye towards adding S and R models in the future. As you've noted, the bike is going to appeal to a lot riders and encourage them to ride farther. And feel great about what they've accomplished - which is what it's all about!
Great to hear and see a review by someone who knows what they’re talking about, and is honest in their opinions. So practical and real. Thank you. It really did make me wonder if this would be ‘my bike’... Les
Great review. Loved your straight talk. No flowery language and no sugar coating. Gives a very good idea of the bike. And it seems like a terrific buy for the money and will give the far more expensive mid weights a real run. Glad to hear you can do long motorway days too as that’s a necessary evil that any adv bike needs to cater to. Top bike overall.
Like the review below I have watched most if not all of the Tenery reviews by journos and owners and I found yours to be very professional and extremely informative. I’m heading into the dealer to put my deposit down in the morning. Will certainly be keen to watch more of Brake Magazine reviews. Subscribed. 🙋🏼♂️👍
Just placed my deposit (Feb. '20) and am torturing myself watching vids like this until it arrives in June. Having fun shopping for and buying accessories for it: HEED crash bars, Tusk MOLLE rackless luggage over an SW Motech tail rack, SW Motech center stand, HEED crash bars, Adventure Spec skid plate, GIVI S310 auxiliary lights, Pivot Pegs. Seems like many North American manufacturers/retailers are not building/stocking many accessories for these bikes yet. Most are European sourced. They better get with the program in the US and Canada, because Yamaha is going to sell a gazillion of these bikes here.
Can't believe it's been four years since I watched this for the first time already - time flies! Also very excited for your Tuareg 660 review, saw you responded in a comment that it will air in January.
Thanks for noticing. Would need 200 pages to describe how it was being away and how much better everything is now that I'm fully analog (logging on to wifes computer to do YT stuff), but in short it's a much healthier and stress free approach. You know probably better than anyone how tough RUclips can be on your mind with the constant thinking, planning and pondering. Can't wait for the review man, been waiting for a year!
Hehe, well, I'm kinda trying to not mix too much personal stuff with YT, I just don't think people are that interested. If you think my experiment could be somewhat helpful to you I'd love to do a Skype talk. Let me know, I'd be honored to!
That could be cool. I wouldn't under estimate making your RUclips personal man. It's a slowish burn but I wish I'd done that more at the start. It's tricky to transition back into.
Excellent review! I’ve been really excited for this bike. A nice bike without all the electronic nonsense. Wish it had a lot more fuel range. Can’t wait to see them loaded with gear.
Well done, very thorough and straightforward, no sugarcoating. I just got a T7 and don’t have a ton of miles on it yet, but I agree with all your input. Subscribed!

Forgot to say...great review. Very helpful, covered all the important things, and unlike most reviewers you have credibility with your opinion on offroad capability (whereas a lot of journos who review ADV bikes are, by their own admission, hopeless offroad)
Very nice and professional review.! I had a test ride of the new tenere 700 and maybe this is the best review so far for tenere 700. covered all the important things about this bike!! Well done!

The husqvarna nuda has a similar fuelcap system, the key remains on the cap while you have to take it completely of. Never encountered struggle or difficulties with it...
The engine was definitely destined to be in this bike. They took a super ten engine, made it a 700, tested it out in a roadster for a few years, and put it where it belongs. In an adv.
My favorite type of ADV riding is long-distance trips to third world countries, and this is the bike we've been waiting for: capable, comfortable, forgiving to ride, simple and cheap! Complicated electronics are a liability in countries where you might have to truck your bike to the capital and wait three weeks for your part to be shipped in. Simple is so much better. Yamaha have shown they really understand the adventure traveler biker.
Superb review and extremely informative from someone who is properly clued up and a proper off road rider. It sounds like the perfect lightweight do everything bike and a big improvement on the 660.
I think they did the fuel cap that way as a crude means to get more fuel capacity out of the tank. A cap with a hinge sits inside the tank meaning less fuel.

Good review - I like that it's not all gushing. I ride a 700GS and would seriously consider switching due to the better off-road handling of the Tenere (700 struggles to be honest). That price-point too!
Hi Llel, really helpful channel thanks for doing all these great riding tips & really thorough reviews. Good review, cheers. In my view we are getting carried away by fancy electronics a bit too much, going back to basic motorcycles improves skills and fun to ride as opposed to playing with electronics.
A very well edited, thoughtful and considered review, well done. It will be interesting to see how it compares to the KTM 790 R. The Yamaha certainly beats it on price :)
Thank you for this review, best review of the Tenere ti date, totally honest with pros and cons. When you say it was good at highway speeds, what rpms are we talking about at 100-120km/h? Nobody seems to be able to answer that question.
Excellent review with a lot of details and - remarkably - lack of overwhelming excitement about the event in Tortosa which probably leads to extremely biased reviews because of its awesomeness in itself. Thanks for doing such a great job of communicating the character of the ride; I’ve been looking on Patreon for the Dialled-In series on the T7 but haven’t been able to find it; is it still in the works?
Thank you for a very helpful review. One comment is that another reviewer pointed out that their (a couple with 2 T7s) bikes leaked fuel from that ugly cap when tipped over. And one question about the ABS: you commented that the ABS was not as functional off-road under some circumstances. But I understand that the system is switchable (at least the rear??). So how does your observation align itself with the ability to turn off the ABS? Thanks again. This was a truly in-depth and practical review.
I remember dual sport/ adv use to be the cheaper intros into the motorcycle world. Now it's a title a brand. More sophisticated and technologically advanced motorcycles for the street costs thousands less... $10k+ for this "barebones" adv bike. These bike dealers are making a killing on profits these days.
Well done review Thank You i think most modern bikes with foul injection suffers from jerky throttle when you start do to the lean mixture mapping of the engine it is extreme on big singles like the Yamaha XT 660ZA Ténéré but it can be helped a lot by simply mounting a booster plug in series with the intake temp censor.
They were problematic but slowly people are figuring it out. For a lot of more recent bikes, electronic throttles have helped. The biggest problem is the emissions.
Very good review, thanks!! Reminded me why the KLR became the iconic benchmark for long range trips the last three decades. Do you agree? I have one, I ve been super satisfied, and can't wait to change to this Teneré 700 as soon as they arrive in South America. Greetings from Bolivia
Brake Magazine I wonder if their new gear might just run small, I got Ridge jacket from Revit and it feels cramped a bit. Whereas the same size Sand 3 fits just fine. Go figure.

And one question about the ABS: you commented that the ABS was not as functional off-road under some circumstances. But I understand that the system is switchable (at least the rear??). So how does your observation align itself with the ability to turn off the ABS?
Thanks again. This was a truly in-depth and practical review.
Our comment was that the ABS isn't great off-road. If you turn it off the brakes are fine.
I didn't crash one to test the fuel cap sorry.
Great review. It is time for Honda to bring back their famous Transalp to compete with this awesome machine. Interesting times ahead for sure.
Or make the AT better...
They really aren't. They've actually never had it tougher.
Well done review Thank You i think most modern bikes with foul injection suffers from jerky throttle when you start do to the lean mixture mapping of the engine
it is extreme on big singles like the Yamaha XT 660ZA Ténéré but it can be helped a lot by simply mounting a booster plug in series with the intake temp censor.
They were problematic but slowly people are figuring it out. For a lot of more recent bikes, electronic throttles have helped.
The biggest problem is the emissions.
I've watched about 3 reviews. This one was the best by far, I'm going to order this bike because of this video. Good work.
How's the accessories list
Depends what you're looking for, but generally good 😊
Very good review, thanks!!
Reminded me why the KLR became the iconic benchmark for long range trips the last three decades. Do you agree?
I have one, I ve been super satisfied, and can't wait to change to this Teneré 700 as soon as they arrive in South America.
Greetings from Bolivia
Great review, very precise. After seen this video I feel like I'm going to pay more attention to this bike.
Awesome review!!! 👍👍
Best review ive seen
Thanks
Best review on T700 hands down. Well done guys 👍 This or 790R would be good addition to my R1250GS.
P.S. How did you like that new revit gear?
I mean, you have a 1250 so you don't need much adding too 😏 Rev'it gear is nice. I ordered a size too small though! I love what it looks like.
Brake Magazine I wonder if their new gear might just run small, I got Ridge jacket from Revit and it feels cramped a bit. Whereas the same size Sand 3 fits just fine. Go figure.

It defo runs a full size small for me 😊
