  • I acquired this VW after my step father passed away earlier this year, so here I am pouring money into it, one problem after another.
This stupid POS radio kicked the bucked and died on me today. No power, no lights, nothing.. looked like it was a goner. I checked the owner manual for fuse locations, and both locations have no reference to what each fuse is for (usually printed on the plastic panel/door). So I checked the manual again, and the manual doesn’t identify the fuses either! Typical VW… although it does take a moment to explain to you how to identify a blown fuse :/
I checked every fuse manually and everything was good. Checked the internet, which told me it’s either dead, or you can reset it by holding the power button for one minute. I held that button for 3 minutes and it didn’t do a thing. Was almost about to give up and resort to shelling out hundreds on a replacement head unit… then I decided to look one more time for a reset button. Found the little sucker and held it for a minute.. nothing! Tried again… nothing! Was about to smash the screen with my fist until I got the idea of holding the power and the little reset button together. I did that for maybe 15-30 seconds (my mind was all over at this point, I have no idea really) and what do you know!?… the illumination lights came on and then the opening screen saver thingy. Pressed the power button again after a long wait and bingo-bammo, hot diggidy! We’re in business.
Hopefully this video helps save a few people from wasting money on a new radio… the solution to all of this?… don’t buy a VW!
