      Well, there's a well-known saying which points out that the only difference between a "terrorist" and a "freedom-fighter" is whether you agree with their cause or not. With Mandela, the world has decided that his cause was good and therefore any acts of evil that he committed while fighting that cause were in fact good and heroic, so we can have a nice, clear-cut, simplistic "good" or "evil" narrative about history.
      That's why you don't hear much about things like, for example, Mahatma Gandhi's charming habit of getting into beds naked with children in order to "test himself." It seems unlikely that he had a 100% pass-rate on those tests, and we can only wonder what happened when he "failed." But history has decided he was a good guy, therefore anything which conflicts with or complicates the narrative will be airbrushed out of the picture.
      Makes you wonder how "good" or "evil" all of the heroes and villains of history _truly_ were.

You made a valid point-under apartheid, one could say the white SA government brought much of the problems upon themselves. However, now the ANC have been in power for decades, their record of looking after black South Africans (excepting ANC officials and their families) is woefully inadequate, some might say, worse than the white government.

    • @kerriepaterson
      @kerriepaterson 4 года назад +11

      Read the wiki page for Liberia. There’s enough truth there to make your eyes bulge! Communists used South Africa as an experiment from the beginning of the 20th century. Direct quote from David Ivon Jones (one of the founders of the International Socialist league of SA) to Leon Trotsky in 1921... “The economic crises that you mention in your questionnaire do not exist in South Africa as an independent phenomenon of its capitalist economy because there is neither the capital nor the slaves to subordinate it... These native workers are a perfect material for the socialist revolution. But they are all illiterate and for this reason they are out of reach of the communist propaganda. Their mental awakening demands educational institutions of either capitalism or communism - whoever will be first”. 1927-28 the Comintern came up with a goal for the communist effort in SA. The country was to become a ‘negro republic independent from GB with autonomy for the national white minorities’. The SACP would struggle to interpret this concept for the next decade. Theoretical gerrymandering of concepts ensured that the SACP remained confused and relatively ineffectual until after ww2. Testimony of David Ivon Jones in 1930s who referred to himself as a ‘white colonist’ and suggested that “for some of us, the only tie with SA is the communist movement itself’.

      Hey Simon when are you going to stop talking out of your anus and start talking out of your mouth?. Considering the tyranny imposed on black South Africans by white INVADERS, is it any surprise that some black Africans formed groups to commit violence against their tyrants?. Considering all the injustices inflicted by WHITE South Africans against black South Africans for over 100 years, violence against the white tyrants was PERFECTLY JUSTIFIED. Imagine the following hypothetical scenario, while you and your family are sleeping, a bunch of thugs break into your home and hold you and your family hostage, during which the thugs brutalise at least one member of your family, now wouldn’t you want to retaliate in defense of your loved one?, or would you retaliating make you a terrorist?. Nelson Mendela was never a terrorist, he was merely a REVENGE-SEEKER. The BIGGEST terrorist organisation ever in human history has been the British Empire, these Poo-Guzzling-Pigs INVADED foreign countries in the name of greed and power, by violence including MASS-MURDER of natives, and LOOTING. This British terrorist organisation (The Empire) was also engaged in the narcotics trade at a international scale, they used narcotics and alcohol to subdue natives and rob them. Therefore not only was the British Empire a International organised crime syndicate, the British Empire was also a TERRORIST organisation who pioneered racism, international crime, and terrorism.

During the 80s when we were in durban we would go hunting in the natal with no problems at all made welcome etc. However after the power shift in the early 90s things definitely changed if you went ashore you made damn sure you dropped a 1911 in your pocket. Duke(first officer) did the same because if you were black and seen to be friendly with whites it was dangerous (soweto necklace et all). When we both retired to uk old duke used to lament what happened in Rhodesia and south africa. The changes were definitely not for the better.

    Friday May 20th, 1983 I was sitting in my office when a fellow worker rushed in to tell me that there was a huge bomb blast in Pretoria. By the late afternoon it was clear that there was 19 dead and 200 wounded. As it turned out later a Dutch woman smuggled a message given to her by Mandela out of jail. The message was that he sanctioned the bombing in Pretoria. A guy called Guido Van Hecken, organized the bomb and had it placed in a car in Maputo. This very same Guido Van Hecken is today working for Oxfam Solidariteit in Belgium. The car with the bomb was driven to Pretoria by a Dutch Belgium activist called Hélène Passtoors. She later said on Belgium TV that she had no regrets and that she was a soldier for Mandela. These people worshipped this man. The guys that drove the car into Pretoria, Freddie Shangwe en Ezekial Maseko was also killed as the bomb exploded 10 minutes too early. At the time I worked for the Sowetan which was a newspaper for black readers and very much anti-apartheid. After Mandela was released the killing between the different groups, Inkatha and ANC started in all earnest. At Shell House, the ANC headquarters, 20 people died on Mandela's instructions. Between 1990 and 1994 14 000 people died in this conflict which was black on black struggling for power. The history of South Africa is mostly purposely misunderstood. Apartheid which had many downsides also had good sides which no one dares talk about. 21000 people died during apartheid political unrests, 519 were killed by the police or security forces, the rest were all due to black on black violence. Today 55 people are killed on average in South Africa per day.....a woman gets raped every thirty seconds, aids is rife and tuberculosis is worse than ever, unemployment and poverty all of which are far worse than during apartheid. In 1974 petty apartheid was abolished and things looked up. A white guy appeared in Johannesburg court because he insulted a black guy, things were changing but it was not good enough, simply because the goal of the ANC was to take power and run a communist state......that dream has gone haywire and the cadres only enriched themselves and bankrupted the country.

    I am always interested in these types of Vids. One of My Cousins, Sidney Percival Bunting Founded the South African Communist party ,the SACP which did become the ANC over time. His son Brian was an MP in South Africa up to the 2000's.
    Sidney was a Cambridge educated white man,the grandson of the Rev Dr Jabez Bunting of the methodist Church, and immersed in what would be called socialist thinking today.(the family tree is full of politically active people) He read law at Cambridge and went to South Africa to practice law,His first legal partner was Ghandi.
    Sidneys wife,Becky, was also a Lithuanian born jew,and also a communist. When she was born ,Vilnius was part of Russia.
    Communist countries never lst long, and it's just taken South Africa a little longer to dissolve into chaos as the white farmers are driven off the land and the Congolese plunder what ever they can .

    Black people make up the majority in South Africa. Although the Dutch were a predominantly colonial white minority, they held political, cultural and economic power. That is because of the dominance of colonialism. The Dutch activated a vicious cycle of racism in South Africa. Blacks stood up against it. Nelson Mandela was a prominent leader in that struggle. The Dutch imprisoned him. But the struggle was not over. It appeared that the whites could no longer suppress the black struggle.
    However, despite Mandela's imprisonment, the Dutch realized that as the struggle of the black people progressed, they would be massacred, eventually losing political and economic power, and leaving South Africa with nothing. The Dutch wanted to prevent it. Mandela was the perfect man to use for that. We know that Mandela was released from prison, that he implemented a so-called policy of reconciliation, and that the Dutch had enough godliness to forgive. We know that because the whites have told us so. Meanwhile, a so-called Truth and Reconciliation Commission was appointed under the leadership of Pastor Desmond Tutu. What is important to us here is that Mandela and Tutu were religiously Christian and culturally close to whites. The problem between white and black leaders was primarily in the political and economic spheres. It is clear that the release of white Mandela from prison was in accordance with an agreement.
    Mandela is an ordinary black man. He did not inherit much property by birth. But at the time of his death he was said to have owned millions of pounds of gold in cash alone. Later, his relatives seek the help of Roman Dutch law, which is in force in South Africa, to share his property. But those who manipulate the Western media do not give it much publicity.

    I can't find the details now, but I remember a south african pastor told of how he went to see president mandela to ask him not to sign the law allowing abortion on demand. The pastor was struck by how very kind and interested mandela was in his concerns, so after the interview he went home thinking mandela had listened to the points put forward and was taking them into consideration. But the next day the SA equivalent of the IRS descended on the church and started searching for financial irregularities that they could pin on the pastor. They occupied the church, searching the paperwork and intimidating the members, doing their best to close the church down and destroy the pastor, and they didn't leave for: 7 YEARS. (They never found any irregularities). So whatever you think about abortion, that's quite a vicious streak demonstrated right there under the grandfatherly smile.

The reason western conservatives are conflicted about him is because they missed the opportunity to help South Africa during apartheid. He averted a civil war, authored one of the greatest constitutions in the world and only ruled for 4 years. Spent most of his post prison days promoting peace and unity sincerely. What kind of communist does that?

    nelson Mandela was a symbolic mythical figure representing hope and freedom for many who suffered oppression and poverty. he was imprisoned for 27 years. he stood for something. black and white South Africans admired him and were inspired by him. i am a white South African and a British citizen, I wept when he died, he was and is our inspiration, he walked his talk, very few political leaders do that. he brought positive change to SA. his successors in the ANC and in SA government unfortunately have let black and white South Africans down. history can be told through multiple lenses. no man is a saint, but some people do work for good.
