This is what cars are all about. My brother AWD swaps older GTI’s and 5 cylinder turbo swaps, other swaps and builds as well. He started off building Audi race cars for Pikes Peak hillclimb and just took what he learned building those to street cars.
That's an insane project. Swapping a VR6 into a Mark 6 GTI is no small feat. 300-400 hours of wiring is mind-boggling dedication. The attention to detail with powder coating everything is impressive. Huge props for taking on such a challenging project.
It’s beautiful. I don’t know this engine at all, but a turbo would make this a killer if there was room in the bay for it. My mk7R dreams of sounding like this…also having traced and repaired a few minor wiring issues in old Mk5s which wasn’t easy for me I have true admiration for your success with the wiring. Amazing work

Been trying to figure out what engine I wanted to put in certain tight engine bayed nissan from the 90's...and this sound....this is the engine. Also, his engine bay is super clean, the wires all hidden. Gorgeous car! It's comparable to flat plane crank engine sound.
I think it's the vw communities responsibility to put a vr in every vw whether it makes sense or not. Love my vr, often think of selling my neuspeed supercharger and putting a vr in my mk3 Jetta gl

I like it, I think with the whole thing you incorporate the old with the new nicely in terms of styling. Maybe if you binned the air. Even down to rolling on the floor.

Nice build dude. We have a 3.6 Passat. Even stock it sounds nice and pulls well. I’d like to swap that motor into something someday.
