They aren't as good as people think , I had a vr6 golf because my mate had one .
We both had nothing but problems, water pumps , time chains , and coil packs .
Looks great. It sounds great, but keep a lot of money back for repairs .
And if you tune them , a great deal more
@@itisjustacomment water pumps are just a German thing honestly. I have a 3.6 VR6 and I haven't had any of those issues. I've only had piston ring issues due to the VR6 running high compression. I plan on boosting it and the easiest solution is a head spacer to lower the compression
@josmat621 you are very lucky because water pumps and tiimg are very common issues.
I laughed at my mechanic friend for not asking if they had been changed and timing tensions fixed recently.

It's like going back 20 years when people used to save up and build their cars on the driveway! Finance and tuning shops gets the job done, but the connection to your car is completely different when you've made it yourself ❤ Hats off to him for building such a beast.

In Greece, we have some diving into 2s 100-200, some VR6 some 20VT but here this particular S3 car is a symbolic car.

The "bonus" thing about these older cars is the insulation is poor, especially in the low-end models.
Imagine traveling with 160MPH/250KPH in a brand new Mercedes/BMW/AUDI SUV and then in an Audi A3/BMW E36... I would guess the difference is huge :D
Now the thing is that is over 1000 BHP... INSANE!

Wicked build, awesome he built it himself, I'd be interested to know what he uses to tune the car?, I love fast cars, modded mine, it's just over 500hp, I'd love to have 1000 hp except I want to use mine on track and the lag would be far too much, for drag racing or as a daily I bet this is an absolute animal! What sort of 1/4 mile times has it done?, low 9s? Maybe even touched 8s?, would be interesting to know.

what a top notch platform (first gen s3 so quarto) to build on using the beautiful vr6 every part of that car is so clean not just banged a mental engine in any old s3 the body paint headlights all mint wouldnt be many clean examples left that havent been thrashed or body neglected
I have a Supra now. But my fav car I ever owned was my 24v Turbo VR6. Best sounding car imo. Miss it.

The mk5 golf/a3 8p platform are surprisingly heavy. My 1.9tdi mk5 is around 1500kg also, 1800kg fully loaded.

I'm very interested in the transmission swap and how it was pieced together. I'm assuming it's still AWD along with being manual. I'm trying to rabbit-hole and can't even find the AWD Tiguan manual trans.
Amazing build from someone who is not in the car profession!!! Slowly upgrading the car and learning the cars weak points is the best way to go!!! Btw as street cars I think most powerfull S3 in Europe was Takis Vouros S3 at around 1350whp and 0-400 blue S3 was around there as well. Both cars were doing under 8.5 as street cars

My first car when i was 17 was an A3 8l from 02 with a 1.8t AUM and a stage 1 and i was shocked when i drive it for first till i got used with it and i ended up in LOVE with those old A3 but defo now this 1000+Hp it s my favourite now , Hat down for the Owen and big respect man keep it nice and safe
Nice juced up car but how do you get to use and enjoy that kind of power in a big brother orwelliin pigsty like the UK? Sneeze in a car like that will send you easily 40
Mph over the limit with that kind of power. Like come on, the fucking place in riddled with speed cameras and worse them time over distance camaras or average speed cameras, they are everywhere! It's beyond me that that country even has a car or biker culture and now they are pushing to reduce the speed limit to a poxy 50mph on main roads!
Question is, does he use Mannol in this engine? I personally do in my stock TT, but so many are snobby over oil brands, believing you have to pay top price to get best oils.
On another note, the S3 8L is the best looking of all of them. Original & best with nice lines, flared arches.

what a great build! and he only change the bell housing from the tiguan gearbox? and it holds all the tourqe? holy smokes. i drive the stock vr6 12v gearbox with diff. bolts.. i only wait for big bang :-D

Damn u got the freaking oil light too. It scares the crap outta me on my mk5 GLI. I found after doing a bunch of maintenance that it’s caused by a bad vvt sprocket

I'm actually lossed for words.... Is guy has no idea what he has built , I mean it's savage, it's definitely a wolf in a sheep's cloak.... And to think he built it on his own ,learning on the way with only a vision to go by, thinking of all the little details that made this car very special,i so want to see this on the battles and hopefully against the 911 so we can truly see what we are looking at and even so of the 5 cylinders hell I think this could take them all on .....
He needs to be in a VR6 golf shell, and then it would be perfect for me .
I like the S3 had one, but I was fed up with buying badges for the front as they kept getting stolen . Without the badge, it looked like a 1.6 .
