@@shona5512 Yeah, that doesn't make any sense. M4 is statistically way worse on gas. 24 MPG versus 30 MPG highway. Something ain't right there. You should be able to get like 350 miles (560 km) on a full tank if you go easy.
Tiny engine with tiny turbo sized for low end response. Makes sense. If it gets into any boost it just drinks fuel. Perhaps the biggest lie of turbo engines is the promise of better mpg

So not great acceleration and not great MPG compared to competition. Modified absolutely a beast. But isn't that the story for modified engines that's why we modify them. My wimpy 150hp 1.8t has gone to the gym... 490hp 😊. Big little man now, lol

When it was a 1.8 this is what I did. 3" exhaust out to bumper, big fmic, 040 pump, ie street cams, ie intake mani, valves and strings, drop in rods, spa exhaust mani, crap gen 1 journal precision 5558, UM tune 26 psi on 93 fuel. Thats it brother. It was not cheap. You'll need something else if you want cheaper, lol. Those numbers were mustang dyno. Now im 2.0, bigger turbo, bigger throttle body, everything else same with the exception of custom tune that I don't have yet, lol. Searching for 562chp or 450awhp at the minimum on 93. Its a daily, only 93 fuel. Really no special recipe. I think I'll have to make a Channel of some sort start posting some videos, lol. Maybe I could be the next RUclipsr🤣.

So many reasons why this can't be possible in Australia. The cost of cars is way too high here, parts and labour cost is way too high also, you are 100% better off just buying an RS3 or TTRS. There was someone in the Australian VW Golf page who owns a European performance garage and estimated the cost to be over $80,000AUD from start to finish.
Wicked build. The sound it makes is evocative of the original Quattro back in the Group B days. It's a great alternative given that they never sold the RS3 Avant in North America too.

Since I know I'll never own a GT2 RS , this build and spec is my "attainable" dream car. MK7.5 R with a RS3 swap, sitting at 500 whp. Just perfect for absolutely everything. And the owner here described it exactly how I think of it: Having the cake and eating it too!!
My gateway mod is always and intake and a tune, once I get that I start spiraling deeper and deeper into the mods lol I haven’t gone as far as rebuilding motors yet
@@djbryson May be an unpopular opinion but I'm not a fan of the sedan. It's something about it that doesn't look as proportionate as the hatchback looks. Maybe they designed it as a hatchback first and cut the hatch to make it a sedan. They should've given the option. All that performance for the sedan whereas VW on the other hand would never give us a Jetta R over the beloved Golf 😂

The E888 is a great motor, but like Kevin pointed out it has no soul. No glorious noises. I sold mine for that reason in the hopes of getting an 8Y RS3.
That was my thinking which is why I swapped an RS3 into my R. I have RSR #1 being built at Innovative. Just a killer platform if u wanna make big HP. I plan on making 1100 whp + and give them super cars hell...... lol

There’s a few RS3 / Golf R swaps here in the UK. The 2.5 TFSI is a loved engine. But the EA888 is still very popular and seen to reach up to 750hp over here. I’ve been in a 550hp 280 Leon Cupra and it was a weapon.
Nah you would need the AWD chassis for this. Nothing that couldn't be changed after all, but it would require some welding for a FWD car to fit the AWD system.
I had a 2018 TTRS for a couple of years. That motor was sweet...and that car was super quick. Expecting this would be close, same MQB chassis but the VW is maybe heavier because less AL?
nope, VW has their own 2.5 turbo FSI engine. Its VR6 2.5litre (6 cylinder), but VW puts this engine only in VW Teramont and Talagon. It should have Arteon R too, but they discontinued that idea shortly before release
I have RSR #1 being built there and yea its about $80k but I got CF, Magnesium wheels and stereo that adds another $40k lol. Should be finished sometime this summer. Gonna be wicked.
I wish you did more of buying guides, “regular people” repairs, tutorials and “how to” videos. Instead of these crazy engine swap videos and high skill tuning, that 99% of viewers cannot or will not do. Thats just me
great swap I love the 5 cylinder sound but it'd be nice if they didn't seem to emphasize so much that it's "one off" when there's alot of people doing this swap lol
The 8J TTRS came with the option of the MQ-500 gearbox. It would be doable with enough work and an earlier engine like the CEPA or CZGB. Not sure if it would work with the DAZA/DWNA engine like is in this Golf. Besides the DQ-500 is better at handling more power/torque with minimal fuss.
This is the engine the MK7(and 8) R should have come with, albeit detuned and less powerful then a RS3/TTRS for obvious reasons. You cannot change my mind.
In Germany there is a company called "SAR Turbotechnik" that is specialized in doing this swap regularly.

why rewire the existing harness? It's all MQB, much easier to just use an RS3/TTRS engine bay harness and ECU

I had a 2018 TTRS for a couple of years. That motor was sweet...and that car was super quick. Expecting this would be close, same MQB chassis but the VW is maybe heavier because less AL?

In my humble opinion the 5 Cylinder is "The Engine" VAG should have put in the MK7 / MK7.5 GOLF R from factory.
nope, VW has their own 2.5 turbo FSI engine. Its VR6 2.5litre (6 cylinder), but VW puts this engine only in VW Teramont and Talagon. It should have Arteon R too, but they discontinued that idea shortly before release

Added to the cost of the car you're looking $70k-$110k+ for what is a very fast Golf. That's insane imho.
I have RSR #1 being built there and yea its about $80k but I got CF, Magnesium wheels and stereo that adds another $40k lol. Should be finished sometime this summer. Gonna be wicked.
@@borderwave2 How did you count? if it's 30-80k and you get 110k, then the with 80k golf can only cost 30k. 30+30= 60k

The 8J TTRS came with the option of the MQ-500 gearbox. It would be doable with enough work and an earlier engine like the CEPA or CZGB. Not sure if it would work with the DAZA/DWNA engine like is in this Golf. Besides the DQ-500 is better at handling more power/torque with minimal fuss.

This is the engine the MK7(and 8) R should have come with, albeit detuned and less powerful then a RS3/TTRS for obvious reasons. You cannot change my mind.
