All these videos take me back to my early 20s in The Village (1986 -1994). My haunts were The Ninth Circle Steakhouse, Limelight, Tunnel, Club USA. R.I.P. Nelson, thanks for the memories!
Thank you for preserving this magical era. I had just turned 21 a couple weeks before this party. I was living in Los Angeles…. And learning who I was. I wish I had come out in NYC.
These would be SOME big differences: You didn't have to drive everywhere in NY . LOTS of public transportation. No celebrity sightings -- ever . Things were a bit cheaper here . No "heavy metal scene" here - more "punk / new wave". More condensed - people wise. It was EASIER to bar hop / club hop . Brooklyn and Queens were affordable to live. You could make ends meet by just having a "normal boring office job".
Some of the most fun days of my life were about this time. So happy Nelson put all this on camera. Great people.Would have liked to have met them all especially Nelson. I loved to hear Happy Phace talk..so cool of a person.
A great thank you to Nelson Sullivan wherever he is, for these beautiful videos shot in the 80s, precious documents of life, of that beautiful period, where there was not much technology but there was much more love, friendship and simplicity
I can’t thank you enough for continuing to upload these videos 59AP. I loved Nelson, and Albert was one of my all-time favorite people, he’s always so happy and puts off a great vibe. These are treasures and I for one am so grateful to be able to see them! RIEP Nelson, if you only knew how much you are loved by people you don’t even know, even your relatives here. 😉
Albert used to be my fav as well... until it seemed like he used Nelson. When him and Liz showed up to dye there hair at his place while Nelson was sick... didn't bother asking if he felt ok. Then when Christina died Albert and musto were morbid and mean talking about her Nelson clearly felt bad...then Nelson changed the subject saying he was taking Albert to atlanta to go shopping. Albert said "im not going to bother taking any money" basically like Nelson is supposed to pay for everything. Idk the more clips I watch the more it seems Albert used Nelson because he was so nice and giving. I really use to like Albert tho he was quite the character he made me laugh. His true colors showed the more you watch he's a me me me type person. Just my opinion though...
Love Hapi Phace!! OMG! Taboo always mad me laugh in or out of The Stage Taboo! He used think I was laughing him(looks) but it was with him! Now he is another famous one!
For people saying "the party is boring" is not understanding that there are groups of people on different types of drugs in those groups of people being filmed at this party, which definitely contributes to that vibe.
This party is not boring. Reminds me of being drunk n' high at a party in the 1980s and just moving from one conversation to the next - nice mix of people , friends of friends, Gay / straight , artists / writers --maybe some weird-o strangers to make fun of later when everyone leaves.
Those were magical moments of their lives… When the 🏳️🌈 community still loved and care about each other legitimately. No shade, no bullying, no screaming or fighting. Just pure joy and love 💗 Nelson was way ahead of his time. RIP legend
Man theres always SOOO many people around back then. It hard to decipher who is who sometimes! I was in California back them oartying hard to! Thats when all the good dope was around. And by DOPE, i mean take ur pick and every color in the book
Yes he is still friends with LadyBunny and Lahoma. Larry Tee co-wrote Ru's "Supermodel of the world" song and Fenton Bailey and Randy Barbato (aka the Pop Tarts back then) now produce Ru's "Drag Race." I think these queens grew up fast and built serious loyalty to one another and stayed friends because they went through so much in the 80's seeing all their friends get aids and they are the ones who survived. These films are the closest thing we have to a time machine and are such a treasure :)
I loved all my friends in the 80’s.. we were inseparable and like family. Sadly, most died young of AIDS or drug and alcohol abuse. None of them (of around 10 friends) are alive now. Last one was my friend Billy who survived AIDS for 35 years but ended up dying of lung cancer. And I haven’t aged much, they say. Go figure, I never touched alcohol or cigarettes or drugs. Never.
@@dougl945that can’t have been easy to outlive so many loved ones , it’s always those left behind that feel the pain. However I’m sure you’re loved by many more who are so pleased you escaped the 80’s unscathed 😊
Very enjoyable as always. I love the moment when he's alone and is so pleased with all the guests - you can tell how much he loved his friends. Who is the guy at 6:10 ?
Wow, how's the building where Nelson lived, and now is kinda different, like a fancy boutique. What happened with that NY? I wish I could have been there, living in New York, and be Nelson's friend. Maybe RuPaul will find this video. I wonder what he thinks of this video, and Nelson, and New York.
it's an art museum now. The outside of his building is still the same. They have a floor dedicated to him. Sadly, everything around his house looks drastically different now than in the 80s. www.fortgansevoort.com/
It's a shame many were self-medicating at the time because they were not afraid of being themselves and society labeled them. Which made it hard at the time but they had so much creativity. Some got lost.
They were watching a video of supremely scrumptious Trade (one of Nelson's & Rupaul's friends, that I believe wasn't at the party) swimming naked in the pool. He could definitely garner people's attention. 😍
“I’m so high I know that I’ll wake up tomorrow and think wow what a great t-shirt” loooove RuPaul so so much

Nelson had such a great heart… it is so easy to fall in love with him. I wish I met him.
Back in the days when everything was fun.
half these people died from aids, sure sounds like fun to me
Honestly they don't seem like they're having fun. It seems like a boring party

Truly LOVE YOU FOR all of your videos and creativity 💖💖💖
TRADE SWIMMING AROUND NAKED IN THE POOL??? WHY COULDN'T WE SEE THAT?!?!?!
Florent!
“Does Florent have a liquor license”? They sure did! Especially when they served us in coffee mugs, after hours. 🥴
How extremely polite everyone is....
Sylvia Miles just passed away in 2019 Incredible!!!
What a wonderful party Happy Birthday Albert, Dick and Ru Paul...........

Nelson was such a great host...
Our time machine
Lol Michael was sitting there waiting for the coke to kick in..
Joke.
Shit joke
Not a joke just facts. Lol
this makes me want to move to NY
But in a TIME MACHINE. People like this CANNOT AFFORD to live in NYC any more. 90% of NY people are 21-27 trust fund kids w/ VERY rich parents.
Thanks a lot for what you’re doing!
Whenever MICHAEL MUSTO appears on the screen ; my dog runs outside and eats GRASS.
6:08-6:13 - Big mood 😂 idk why I laughed so hard at that

lol you really think if they were accepted they wouldn’t do drugs? come on man.
Some people can HANDLE drugs . Like weekends only type . And a lot of people - just did liquor & pot.
mama ru do you ever age?
So this is Nelsons apt?
Actually a 3 story house.
why are they watching tv?

This party seems really boring js but love it tho
Liz is hot how old is she now
34
Harry Monk it’s been at least 33 years since this video was recorded. I’d assume she’s at least 51 or older.
@@LocaalDent her kids are close to that age now, bro. Liz is about 70 now.
@@LocaalDent can you do math at all? You realize liz is not 18 yrs old in this video. She's like 37. So she's about 70 yrs old now.

Musto is MORE annoying !
