Christina, in a good mood

- Christina was in a pretty good mood the night Nelson Sullivan visited her in April 1989. Nelson engaged in a thoughtful conversation there with Christina's friend Linda. It was all about the reality of video and Nelson's ideas about that. It is presented in its entirety on the 5 Ninth Avenue Project Channel and is entitled "Nelson Sullivan discusses the reality of Video in the Chelsea Hotel"
It’s strange how you can really miss someone you never met, cheers to you Nelson
i feel the same way
This lifestyle by "Christina" is actually disgusting. Rather than have somebody in the 80s acting like somebody during the current time period, I would rather have somebody in this time period acting like people did in the 50s in terms of cultural values
P.S. I do feel bad that Nelson passed away. He maintained a healthy weight and was extremely unlucky. I just don't believe he is as revolutionary in a good way as most others since modern society is collapsing very quickly and we instead need our mentality to be that of 1955. Yes, I mean the entire mindset of that time period especially in the South
@@stewiegriffinfan18 I'm right there with you.
@@Utubin Hehe I am glad I am not the only one that thinks about things. Like, no, not everyone is created equal and different groups of anthropoids (that most refer to as "people") are different in civilization building, desire for freedom, and crime
I looked at one vid and now I'm hooked. This is real reality TV. I can't stop watching. Nelson's commentary is funny and he is such a character in his own way. New York in the 80's!!! Like the music playing in the background during his visit...the B 52's.
The team keeps releasing Nelson's videos. No one has done anything major with them yet. I wish they would. There are plenty of great creative people who were a part of this era. Julian Schnabel would be great for this type of project.
Emenjay Man real talk. I felt the same way after watching just 1 video.. opens my eyes.
Emenjay Man I watch every day....about ten days since I discovered
yeah, this is wild! I'm a straight, 39 yr old, watchin NBA playoffs, ON MUTE, while watching Nelson's footage. this is addicting... its REAL.
what song by the b52s is it?
This is historical footage! Nelson and Christina at THEE Chelsea Hotel? Truly iconic.
The fact that she later died at the Chelsea Hotel is so sad. Especially since she died a couple of weeks before Nelson did!

Poor, poor Christina... Nelson was a good friend to her.

Craig Oz Realy...? Are you taking the piss m8?
No why would I be. Sex and gender are two separate things, related...yes, but her gender was that of a woman. So you use the pronoun 'she'. What she had in between her legs is irrelevant.
Gender is largely performative.
I hope somehow he knows, that even completely strangers appreciate his wonderfull soul after all these years.
He knew, somehow. In one videos the last visit to his hometown in South Carolina he says "I am going to enter a different world,an electronic world and with God's help I am going to spread peace love and happiness".I couldn't believe my ears,he described a time where electronic devices seem to create another and virtual social world where complete strangers can communicate and affect one another, for better or worse. He had vision, that man.He was well connected.
He doesn’t
Well said!😍
I've just discovered this beautiful soul and itakes me so sad that he's not here
Oh...He knows! And he's smiling down on all of us...we will ALL see Nelson one day & thank him in spirit
I just love how Nelson just went with whatever Christina was saying.
I know Christina is off her head on drugs, but everything she says is a fragment of art
So true,so right
I believe she was a diagnosed schizophrenic, but I'm sure there were some interesting drugs floating around that apartment as well.
@@cgvapors963 I would believe that because of the way she was holding her head and talking to herself and maybe she took legal drugs for her diagnosis. But I did sense some normality in her though. Like Nelson air-kissed her goodbye and she did the same. It's heart-warming if you think about it!
All these vids are a fragment of art
EVERYTHING
Sad to think that Christina and Nelson did not make it to the end of that year, one probably overdosed from all the pain and suffering (Christina) and Nelson just happened to have a weak heart... You can see how exhausted he was just by walking 2 flights of stairs.
Putting all that into perspective and the two sitting along with their friend talking about people's pain and how hopefully the world in general would be more aware about it in the future is just nostalgic and remarkably sad.

Suzie N Nelson was the best
At 4:22 you see a good example of Nelson's incredible camera work. He looks away at Linda but still moves the camera effortlessly and focuses it on Christina. In this moment he and the camera are one.
love.
DiskSystemChronicles fluidity was his thing, this is a rare video where he is not moving, hes not still for long and the camera is always in his hand, if you've ever held a camera from the eighties they were quite weighty and ackward along with all the equipment, but he carried it everywhere, and surprisingly you'd think the shots would be shaky. A real talent to do this
Good catch, he is incredible. 5:46 He reaches to center the camera better while Linda's filming him. Master.

Being short of breath and coughing after climbing 3 flights of stairs is a solid indicator of impending health trouble, R.I.P. Nelson, never forgotten.
Thomas White I was thinking the same.
Fast forward to now where everyone eats manufactured food and takes the elevator up one story.
Yeah, I noticed that too. He was really out of breath after climbing about two sets of stairs. That's not very healthy. But it might be because of smoking, since he seems pretty fit. Personally, I'm a bit on the heavier side, and I get winded after going up just one set of stairs. But I don't smoke at all.
Indeed sorry that he left us so young..relaxed dude..going to his granny house and neigbours..I just kinda met him since a few weeks watching his vids...a couple days before he died I saw him yawning while he was filming himself during a normal day out walking BlackOut..I guess that was also a sign...so sad...anywaaaaysss thank you Nelson for being worldsss first Vlogger lolll..eat that peeps🤗🤣😋

In April 1989 I was a sophomore in HS dreaming about hanging out in the Chelsea Hotel one day. Now I live across the street and the city is unrecognizable.
I live in Indiana, but always wanted to see the Chelsea. I see online that it is closed for renovations? Any chance you know when it will reopen or how the renovation is going? I'm afraid to hear that they try to modernize it and take away the history. Hopefully no unnecessary changes will be made.
The same thing happened in in D.C. and Chicago.A lot urban areas are now like that, gentrified out of all recognition.
The Chelsea has seen lots of deaths.
Trish 0910 theyre completely remodeling and are not opening up for renting sans a few residents that were there prior to reconstruction. All the history will be gone with the new remodel
Oh wow!! I turned 14 April of ‘89 and I loved NYC and had so many dreams of moving there to live this kind of experience. My former husband is from NYC and wanted out so it never happened. These videos are sating my longing for taking a different path.
That Hotel has so many stories. I mean Sid and Nancy, Christina, Alice Cooper, Dylan. That place is a Museum of our past as Artists and Greatness. But its an eerie place if you go in.

One of Christina's last comments in this video: "They'll make money off of people being ill, in pain".
People are now dying from addiction to pain medications.
You were wise beyond the facade you wore!! R.I.P. dear Christina...xxx
nancy long thought the same thing !
It wasn't a new concept at the time
That's called capitalism in healthcare. Not anything people haven't known about forever.
She was in a good mood, wasn't she, so that thought was lucky to be told :'(
Also, everybody kept saying she does drugs but that doesn't look like drugs to me. They said Cocaine. Cocaine doesn't make you slur your words like that.
Why do people disrespect people with a mental disability like that? It's sad...
Jacob Klimek cocaine definetly does
I love Christina's giggle. Nelson had such a deep fondness of her and regardless of her being tweaked half the time, he saw something beautiful in her that he was always so nurturing and protective of her and that is what made Nelson such a beautiful person. He had friends from all walks of life that he only saw the good in them.
Yeah you feel that from his energy. It’s very good energy. Very nonjudgemental, loving, empathetic.
I love this poor man. so sad he's gone Rupaule said he and his partner were mentors for her. I feel like we lack this mentorship in the community now.

These days and nights of Nelson's life are something to see. It makes me nostalgic for a life I barely knew.
Wow. You become addicted to Nelson’s videos I watch and hours fly by. A free ride in New York in the 80’s❤
The camera movement is so fluid as he's walking up the stairs.
Yeah Nelson's a very graceful walker
Out of all the people in these videos, Christina is my favorite. Don't know why really.
You can see why they chose her character for party monster and for Marylin Manson to portray her.
She is very amusing.

I simply love Christina, how she gets so cutely self-conscious just as soon as the camera is aimed her way.
I see why Nelson loved her so much
Watching these videos of Nelson makes me miss a person I never knew.
Nelson had such a kind, gentle soul. He genuinely cared for Christina, when it seemed that very few people did. I wish I could have met him.
I just discovered these videos today and I'm obsessed. I always wanted to see what life was like in the 80s. I love everything 80s. Thank goodness I found these ❤️ so sad to hear that Nelson isn't with us anymore tho 😢 he will always be missed
Often I feel like I'm part of the conversation when Nelson talks to the camera. What a unique bunch of video clips.
I feel like personalities were way more colorful in those times. Seems like the age of social media, internet, and smart phones have ruined that.
Ah yes, the colourfulness of these drugged out people who died within weeks has totally been ruined. /s
Obviously people in this scene were on a ton of drugs and half the time were extremely mentally ill. Christina, the beauty, on drugs and apparently was diagnosed schizophrenic and then died of an overdose not long after this video.
Times have changed, not by much, but drawing this conclusion on a video like this is probably the worst place to do so.
