Thank you, this is a very timely review for me. This will be a part of my thinking in the process of making my next purchase decisions. You did a nice job. You give very good technical advice, which I think is valuable for many of your relatively beginner viewers. Also, some of your photos are very striking. I was very impressed with your photos of the hyena yawning. What a nice sequence of images!
Hey there! Nice video, thanks! The dust problem is most probably caused by the moving tube and not by a missing filter on the front lens, which is sealed. If you pull the tube, it will also pull air. The sealing of an expending tube will never be 100%, so it's just a matter of time when you'll find dust inside a lens. Dusty environemts will accelerate this process. That's why internal zoomed lenses have a huge advantage regarding dust and moisture resistance.
Great video thanks 👍🏻 Just bought this lens for my D850. Can’t wait to try it out. Need to research the correct camera settings thanks for the heads up.
I too used to use a gimbal and rely too much on a bean bag when I first got this lens. But then I realised that the best way to maximise the efficiency of this lens is to use it handheld. That’s because its VR is so good that I can click super sharp photographs even at 1/60th of a second. The key here is to learn how to hold your camera setup with your elbows tucked in and resting on your body so that all the weight is taken off your arms. Thank you for watching my video and leaving a comment, I appreciate it!
I have a 500 pf, and Z9. then I carry also a Z6ii with 70-200 plus 1.4 TC. So changing the 500 pf for the 200-500 for zoom flexibility. better than to carry 2 bodies and 2 lenses. I also take my 24-200 lens so it will cover the gap but I use it for wide shots. Great video.
I definitely will! I just purchased a Nikon D500 that has had a 200-500 f/5.6 married to it since it was purchased. I got really lucky as the previous owner took really good care of it. Thank you for your instructional videos. They are saving me a lot of time and frustration…still very new to wildlife photography but already seeing the results!
Thanks for the video. I use the following manual focus prime lenses for surveillance, sports, birds, and other wildlife: 200mm f/5.6 300mm f/6.3 400mm f/5.6 500mm f/4 I will consider using the Nikon 200-500mm f/5.6E auto focus telephoto zoom lens instead.
Thanks for the great vdo. I have Nikon z6ii and z mount lenses are so costly. So im trying to get a 500 or 600 mm lens with my budget. I checked lots of third party lenses. But finally i decided to purchase this one with F to Z adapter. Thanks a lot❤️
It's always a combination of different settings to give you the best results on moving targets. I have a video in my channel where I speak more about the AF settings to click birds in flight. As far as the adapter goes, I'm not so sure. It's easier to mount Canon and other brands on Sony cameras as compared to Nikon 😃
I agree 100% I just found one for $261 used in great shape... On a crop sensor you can zoom to 750mm which I have with my Nikon D5300 from my late twin as well as a full sensor Sony camera but could not swing the high cost to get a zoom for it... I love the lens and even though I am a petite lady of 60, I can handle the weight just fine..getting beautiful hummingbird in flight photos. All kinds of birds and I just got it this week.
Neither is better than the other. If you're into wildlife photography, Canon doesn't offer you a good affordable 500 mm lens. Their 100-400 IS II is excellent, but falls short for birds whereas Nikon have their 200-500 & 500 PF lenses which are both fantastic 500 mm lenses in different price brackets, much more affordable than their top-of-the-line 500 f/4. Thanks for watching and commenting on my video, I appreciate it 😃
Thanks so much for video, much appreciated! However, I own both Nikon F100 (film) and D800 cameras. That "E" aperture will only work on D800 but not F100. Is there any similar lens to that but without "E" aperture so I can use on both cameras that I own? Thanks in advance!
Finally a good video. All videos on about this lens are based on the principle of "too much talk, too few pictures".

Agreed. The service centre folks suggest that a filter helps keep some dust off.

Good choice! The camera settings are almost the same as the D500, as explained in this video:

It’s an awesome lens. I’ll be bringing it on safari. I like to use it on a tripod with a gimbal or monopod or lean on a bag.

Sir, I use d7500. Pls give some advice on focus settings.
I have many videos about settings on the D500. They're pretty much the same on the D7500
Very interesting and helpful tips I haven't heard anywhere else. Thank you 👍🏻

Hello, just one quick question. Which is the bean bag you are using?

Thanks for watching 😀
Thanks for the content. Did you set your focus tracking with lock-on to 4 or 5?
Sometimes 4, sometimes 5. 5 if there are too many things in the way between my lens and the subject 😊

Sir d7500 ke liye iss lens lu???? Mera wildlife photography ka interest hain?
Yes, it will be a good choice
As D500 is no longer available. The settings you suggested for D500 should work for D7500. I have a D7500 and a 200-500 lens.
Yes, you're right. In fact they'll work for most Nikon cameras of that league!
Thanks for your handholdtechnik
What setting on the AF gives you the BEST results on moving targets ?? + Which adapter is necessary to put this on a SONY mirrorless ? Thanks !

can you please talk about Nikon z5 and Nikon AF-S Nikkor 200-500MM F/5.6E ED VR lens combination and results for wildlife photography?
I'll try and do it at some point, thanks 😀
Great video, I have this lens left over from my dslr days, this inspired me to use it on my Z6ll.
Awesome, do lmk how it goes 😃
Is it compatible with Nikon z50 ?
Not directly, but it should work with an adaptor
Thanks again for the detailed overview of the lens. You made my dilemma disappear. 👌
Glad that I could be helpful 😀
Finally got the lens, its an absolute beast!
It's heavy and zoom out fast hard but nice sharp lens
It's value for money 😀
@@TheOpenImage for the money its good but for the shoulder and my back not so gud :D

However, I own both Nikon F100 (film) and D800 cameras. That "E" aperture will only work on D800 but not F100.
