    Outstanding flight. Love the meal you got on this flight. A lot of things on the tray. Not a bad option if we want to fly between BKK and HKG.

      Yeah, pretty descent meal compared to the LCCs. Would take this meal any day over the cold pre-packaged food with budget airlines :)

    Really great review. Ethiopian Airlines is certainty one I want to try. It would add a great new airline to my channel. I’ve been watching your videos lately. I found it interesting that you too fly out of RDU often. I have subscribed!

      Would definitely recommend Ethiopian, if you get the chance to do so take it (unless the alternative is a first class emirates ticket lol). And thanks for the sub!

    I flew Air Canada 787-9 from YVR to HKG in May, and Hainan Airlines 787-9 Business Class from SZX to CKG in June. They turned the window blue when cruising for both times

    Ethiopian's 787 fleet has an interesting quirk. Ethiopian is the only airline that has ever switched from GE 787s to RR 787s. Some other airlines like ANZ and ANA are also switching engines for their 787 orders, but they are all doing the reverse: RR to GE, and that's for obvious reasons. Even Ethiopian switched back to GE for the same reason, but it is still interesting to note that while a few airlines are switching from RR to GE on the 787, Ethiopian is the only airline that has ever switched from GE to RR on the 787.

      Thanks for sharing, I had no idea! Just going off of pure intuition here, but maybe their switch has something to do with loyalty/future discounts for Ethiopian from other aircraft producers and the need to diversify. Ethiopian has historically had an all-Boeing fleet for a while now, including (but not limited to) 767-200ER/300ERs, 757-200s, 737NG/MAXs, 787-8/9s, 777-200ER-300ERs etc. Any Boeing issue that happens is likely to effect them harder than other airlines with diversified fleets. Like any airline during the MAX crisis that had MAXs but also had A320's pulled through just fine, but those who didn't have an alternative suffered. It's obvious that Ethiopian can get get by with any 787 issue by using the A350s, but their confidence in the RR product will definitely help them down the road.

    I will be flying United 787 from ORD to SFO in 2 weeks, it's an evening flight, hope that the crew won't turn the window blue when we are in the sky

    May I ask how you can afford to fly so frequently? Isn’t it a very expensive habit or there are tricks to flying often? Thanks!

    • @andrewsaviation7792
      @andrewsaviation7792  4 года назад +1

      Sure! Some of my trips are work-related, but other trips are just for the sake of flying. There are actually PLENTY of tricks to flying often if you play your cards right. I'm what you might call "A guy who knows how to find a good deal".
      There's ways to get around for free using a TON of credit cards, but that way is a little sketchy. Every trip I do (for fun) has a small and strict budget, and aren't that expensive in the end.
      I use multiple search engines to find the best prices (like kayak and expedia). For my fun trips, everything is about flying, and the destination doesn't really matter (sometimes). Everything else on the trip will work itself out, but when the place you're going doesn't really matter, it can be easier to find "flash sales" or catch some tickets at good prices. How to find those just requires A LOT of browsing on the search engine sites and experience on which days are usually cheaper.
      Maxing out loyalty points is good too, like if you can book travel on expedia, you'll get expedia points AND airline points. Also, if you book with an airline-related credit card, you can get more airline points. All of these add up and can be used to get free bags/travel/upgrades.
      There's a few more things I could mention, but that would make this reply longer than it already is. Hope this helps and let me know if you'd like to hear more!

      Thanks for your answer.
      Do you know about Dennis Bunnik, Josh Cahill, Paul Stewart, Sam Chui, etc.? Are they the same type of traveler as you or get free flights from airlines?

    • @andrewsaviation7792
      @andrewsaviation7792  4 года назад +1

      No problem! I've heard all about those famous RUclipsrs and they're pretty fun to watch. I've never gotten a free flight from an airline, but it would be amazing to get one. I know some of them get free flights from airlines in exchange for positive reviews or constructive criticism, but I think they (usually) state if their flight was free or not.
      Other travelers I would assume are exactly like me, searching for good deals in their free time, filming planned vacations, or flying for work. Only a select few big RUclipsrs will ever receive free flights from airlines, and when they do, the cabin crew is sometimes carefully selected to put on the best image for the airline.

      Thx for your reply!
      Where is your home base and what kind of job do you have right now that makes you fly around?
      Also, do you think all of these famous airline vloggers are very rich or just average middle-class folks who always beg the airlines for free plane tickets? Do they ever pay for their trips on various airlines?

    • @andrewsaviation7792
      @andrewsaviation7792  4 года назад +1

      I'm based in Chicago (ORD) but I'm not comfortable sharing my specific work details 😅. Let's just say I fly to check things out for someone 😁.
      I'm sure most of them pay for their tickets at least 95% of the time, especially the ones that give a cost-breakdown at the end. Not to be harsh, but you can tell when they've gotten a free flight sometimes from how they act. An airline will probably only pay for your flight if they want something like positive media attention or they're trying to advertise a new product. Even then, only one or two big influencers will be offered.
      I don't think begging an airline for a free ticket will get you anywhere 😂, but a lot of these large and popular guys have made it their profession to travel and review things. Other travelers (like myself) just do it because we want to 😊
