  • Bummed to say, I can no longer take questions or interact with Reddit user. I'm bummed that I can't talk to you all over there, so I hope you comment and ask questions here when you can. I'm not bitter. I'm taking it as a sign from the Universe to focus on other areas and projects I have going on.

Yeah, I left Reddit several months ago. I feel it's just getting more and more toxic, specially with that CEOs (Spez?) attitude. Like with everything else these days, the community aspect is being shat on. It's only about profits and keeping people in line. F that shit.

I still find subreddits with more technical questions useful, but I have witnessed a degradation and anger in the mental health and psychology areas that isn't conducive. I enjoyed being helpful if I could. But it's just life pointing me in a different direction. Hopefully people find their way here and find something useful. Have a great day. 🙂🤗

I'm sure there are some thoughtful Reddit moderators out there...but I've never encountered them. I was in a similar situation where I posted content that was not allowed and it was removed (I had not been banned yet, just had my post removed and was warned). I was told it violated the channel rules, which was interesting because I had just read about a dozen different threads within the subreddit that were about the topic. I wrote the moderator back asking why specifically my thread was removed when the following threads (I linked to five different threads that were as recent as two days) were permitted to stay up? That got me a 3 day ban and the response of "Ok smart guy, just take your ban." That did not sit well with me, so I wrote back again "I can get banned for asking a question with supporting evidence? Must be nice to have unquestioned power." Which of course led to me getting permanently banned and muted.
What did I do after that? I of course created another account and kept going to the subreddit and when I saw someone else break the same rule I would post a warning that putting up that kind of content could lead them to getting banned. After about the third time I did it, that account was also banned, and I additionally got a 3 day ban from Reddit entirely. I was not on the same IP address or device or had any of the same information filled out for this account as my old one, so it's unlikely they could have known who I was (unless they had access to a ton of bought metadata from Google, which I suppose is possible) so I guess they must have assumed (correctly) that they had banned me before and ran that up the chain and requested a high-level Reddit mod slap me around, and of course, they did, no questions asked, no way to argue my case or even respond, just the threat that I would be banned permanently if I made any attempts to get around the general ban.
The sub was Unpopular Opinion. The subject was about Gender generalizations unless you were submitting a novel viewpoint. My viewpoint was discussing so-called gendered behaviors through the lens of each sex's life experiences and how we should try to put ourselves in each other's shoes to try and understand each other better and not simply resort to attacking each other for behaviors that we might not understand because we haven't walked a mile in that person's shoes. Silly me, I hadn't seen anyone on there try to actually make an attempt at reasoned understanding and diplomacy so I assumed that might fall under a "novel viewpoint", but alas, threads like "Women only love what you can do for them" and "Men are disgusting" were apparently more novel approaches to the subject, if those being allowed to stay up are any indication at least.
I get why that subject is generally banned there, you would have almost nothing else if it weren't, but they still (at least 5 years ago they did) allowed a LOT of that topic to pass through.
That is a lot in order to just say, I feel you.

Yeah, Reddit seemed like one of the few places left that allowed nuanced discussion, but I think more recent moderator may be taking it upon themselves to decide what they think should be allowed to be said, instead of focusing on obvious trolls or spam accounts. It's disappointing, for sure.

Well, I recently got on those MBTI forums, and people sometimes still share your videos (in fact, that's how I found your channel), and those posts are not being moderated, so Reddit can't really keep you out. 😉

Wow. That's very kind of people to share my videos. What total rebels! Lol. 🤗 (Thanks everyone.)

It’s not the biggest loss, broseph. It doesn’t take much to get in trouble on Reddit. The whole place has become a borg cube that only works for you if you assimilate unto the borg. Otherwise, you’ll get picked on until you leave, or in your case, the admins will quietly gerrymander you OUT of the community guidelines and now they have an open & shut excuse to yeet you that you can’t argue. Similar to RUclips but much more so.
The level and frequency of immaturity, fragility,
cognitive dissonance and emotional incontinence I’ve seen there exhibited FROM ADULTS makes one inclined to lose hope in this country and even humanity, so don’t go there unless that’s what you’re after🤷🏻‍♀️

Not certain that you know how I found you but I have a friend that works at a store here and your wife comes to that store regularly and she told me about your channel…. I wish I was as brave as you are I get less and less interested in getting into podcasting or any platform just short of word of mouth it’s hell out there

I can kinda see two side off the coin here. While permanently banning all your three accounts is way to excessive of a punishment, I can still understand the moderators POV. Your comments do kinda give off self-promotion vibes. Also about the other two bans, you were not banned for explaining the rules of the subreddit or for asking about the rules, you were banned for ban evation, which is a platform-wide violation.

    • @ConsciousPatterns

Sure. I get that. And that was my point as well, that it was excessive, and the mods refused to communicate with me. Muted me and then banned me permanently. But going through my profile, I'm sure they would have seen I spend quite a lot of time helping people. It's ok. I'm bummed, but it's a 1st World Problem. 🤗
