  • This is one of the most common questions I see in forums and discussions. Let's talk about it.

😮 oh dear! This is a big one. I can remember being 2. I was a deep thinker then. Observing the world, reflecting and integration were born in me. I'd spend hours in my cot, happy, or hours examining clover. It is born in us. Moving forward.. I am a curious person which lead me into social work. In fact, complex trauma was my specialty. Complex trauma is relational trauma that is cumulative. Between people and also society, like racism etc. Having worked with young people who were raped etc I found one thing to always be true. Each child blamed themselves. The reason is if you blame yourself, it gives that small, vulnerable child power. The power to control the abuse. If I am to blame, I could have stopped it.😢😢 It is extremely agonizing to gently reframe this so the child becomes aware that blaming self was the only way someone so small could say no. To fight against impossibility against a adult who had complete power over. It is heartbreaking. But when the young person works out this, they glow! They realize that they did fight! They did say no! And then, and only then, do the words "it's not your fault" actually sink in. They have to change the schema in their heads first. Otherwise, saying "it's not your fault" is actually disempowerment.. blaming themselves was the fight of their life... get it?🤷‍♀️🤷‍♀️🤷‍♀️💜

In my eyes, I think it goes to the nature and nurture sphere of thought. I believe, just as you said, that we are born with a certain temperament and way of thinking. Childhood trauma of different kinds just negatively nurtures various aspects that we have and makes them sprout in a different, maladaptive form. The responsible Fe can turn into a fawning, people pleasing version to avoid danger. The Ever contemplating Ni-Ti axis can very easily turn into a freeze response to trauma as well. It's like we're born with a certain seed. The form it sprouts into differs whether you give it pure water and sunshine, or toxic water and ever present clouds :') I wish us all the best with our endeavors and the journey for growth and healing from the past... And on another note, I stumbled across your channel recently but I've got to say, I love and quite enjoy your overall presence... Calm and warm 💙 best wishes for success and prosperity to you :D

I've wondered the same thing. Most of the INFJ I've seen online all have one thing in common outside of type and that's trauma. Like when we read people ie body language, speech, tone etc is hypervigilance. Perfectionism is OCD, daydreaming/zoning out is essentially dissociation. People pleasing is basically fawning. These are all trauma responses. Maybe or maybe not there's correlation but there needs to be more research on this.

I do believe that INFJ's can certainly experience trauma very deeply. I agree, it would be interesting to see more research/understanding on this. Thanks for stopping by. 🤗

I believe that for myself it was trauma from day one. Also having a father who was an INFJ.
Looking back and knowing about MBTI and INFJ, I realized that my father was also an INFJ.
AT 50 I am the man I didn’t understand and know exactly what he was all about. Too bad this realization didn’t happen while he was still alive.
I think we’re made and also archetype as Jung said.
I’m not very familiar with his stuff but archetype is genetics I think.
There isn’t a day that I don’t remind myself of him.

Sorry to here. My dad and I became friends, only just at the end, then he passed away unexpectedly. It is the greatest regret of many sons that they didn't get to know their father better, forgive them earlier, or realize our own faults to be a better friend/son. All we can do is to pass on our wisdom to others, and be grateful for the time we had instead of mourning it. Best of luck to you. ❤ 🤗

They say that you can't change your personality but you can have more than one personality. I'll reference "DID" Dissociative Identity Disorder aka multiple personality disorder. This is also the result of trauma, going in between personality states. I wonder if this affects your type, as well shifting in personalities? I'd like more research on this, too.

I do discuss this briefly in my, "Does My Personality Change," video, as referenced by Jung. But I don't think he goes into the degree of multiple personalities. I think we have only scratched the surface on this. And with society changing so fast, it's difficult to keep up with the issues people are coping with and how they cope. (Social media and AI for example.) It's difficult to research deeply when the rabbit hole keeps getting deeper and starts twisting and turning, lol. But still fascinating to unravel. 🙂

Oh and one more thing 😂😂 if you look at neuroscience (out 10 years ago) introverts have their reticular activation system turn on. This means they are constantly scanning the environment which is cognitively exhausting, leading to introversion. It is also why introverts are prone to trauma, see polyvagal theory. As I have said, it is born in us. It is a blessing and a curse. I do wish American INFJ RUclipsrs would stop blaming childhood trauma for this and examine the neuroscience of introversion. It is decades old information now. 👍👍🦘🦘🦘💜
