Thank you! I found your channel because of the Air Force Fire videos and have been consistently watching for the past few years. It was very kind and considerate of you to film your final shift and share it with the world. The fire service is a bit different up in Canada but I've enjoyed watching nonetheless! All the best in Texas!
I live near Beale and your videos are great. I served on AD in the USAF from 75-82 as a radar specialist, got out to become a CHP officer for 31 yrs, but enlisted in the USAFR at Travis from 89-02 and cross trained into Security Forces, then as a Air Transportation Specialist loading/unloading cargo aircraft. Sometimes change is good and needed to help keep up the enthusiasm in an AF career. Congrats & good luck airman!
Instructor duty at the tech school. MTI, MTL or a crosstrain is my guesses. I wanted to do fire protection when I joined but my scores on the ASVAB were highest in mechanical, not general and I lacked depth perception. I was an F-16 crew chief, it all worked out for me in that regard, I'm now a career FF in civilian life.
Seems like there's quite a few Canadians like myself that enjoy watching your channel! The inside look at the US air force is super fascinating to me. Anyways, good luck in Texas!
Thanks for uploading these types of videos! Funny how things work out. I just started watching your channel this week cause I was given fire protection as my MOS and I’ve grown to like your content. Sad to see it come to it end but at least I’ll get to experience it myself. Shipping out Feb.11th if all goes well. Best of luck for you too!
HOUSTON!!! Dude, i couldn't think of his name but he was in your video for like 5 seconds total and I remembered. Great guy, just deployed with him recently and i told him i knew you from tech school. There's a lot of people I know going where you are (I saw your response to someone's comment and it's pretty easy to narrow down), it's definitely a stepping stone and I'm sure you'll leave a great legacy. Keep up the amazing work Kira, i may even see you soon. Who knows👀
Knew this was coming....I know your clan will miss you at Beale - thanks for documenting it. Looking forward to the change but will miss you in NoCal. Good luck with your new adventures and duty station - I am predicting Nursing.....🤞
Canadian here, honestly perspective videos of other people's military careers are quite interesting. These types of videos like yours truly inspire the rest of us guys like me, although not a firefighter I kind of decided to pursue on the Canadian side as an RCAF (Royal Canadian Air Force) Loadmaster maybe an Infanteer or a rifleman as you would call it in the states, also plan to pursue firefighting in Canada at a later date as it is something i'm highly interested in, thank-you for your service!
Thank You For All The Amazing Laughs And Knowledge You've Shared About Air Force Fire With Some Of My Family Being In The Military Ive Been Looking At Applying For A Fire Position Later Down The Road Wishing You The Best In Texas Kira Stay Safe.
I`m the ex marine from the last century. I was in the Marine Air Wings. I was in all of them, I traveled a lot. LOL. I only know the the Crash Crew that hang out on the edge of the flight line, waiting for the worst to happen to us. LOL. Is that the kind of fire fighting you did ? Good luck in civilian life.
Finds lost headphones, sets them back down on the engine and promptly forgets them in California.. Congrats and best of luck at your new job. Fed Fire is hurting so when you decide to punch out, jobs will be waiting nearly everywhere (if that's what you wanna do).
Love the camaraderie of everyone there. Question … I have no military background so this is pure ignorance, part of the day your group was in USAF uniform and then the rest of the day you’re all in navy blue fire station wear. Is it normal to switch half way?
I’ve been watching your channel because it is very interesting to see a “Day of the life” as a Airforce firefighter, this a career I very much wish to pursue as I’m a volunteer right now but I want to continue my career, In your overall opinion is it a very good career in general???
What part of Texas you heading, San Antonio, Dallas, El Paso, Killeen? All great areas you’ll live Killeen in Central Texas hill country and is close to Austin by a Hour & a Half.
Not a whole lot, but if I did, it’s best to talk to people about it. Don’t bottle your feelings and frustrations in. One thing ab this career field is that you’ll have the best brothers and sisters you’ve ever met. It’s easy to create great relationships and to confide in them🤍
Considering the amount of training that goes into being a firefighter, I'm surprised that the AF doesn't keep you in that MOS (or whatever the AF calls it) at your next duty station. All that training and experience is essentially lost now.

This brought back so many memories. I was an AF Firefighter at Holloman AFB. Been out a long time but it seemsthat not much has changed. Thank you

Hi Kira, I hope your next station gives you upward mobility.

Ha! This is what i miss about the Air Force. Just constantly working out and getting paid to do it. 😄
What will you do now
I’m predicting your next job title in Air Force will be that of an MTI at lackland, San Antonio, Texas I’m saying this now.
question when i joined did u go into DEP program i think thats what is called or was it available and also what was your asvab score
Yup, I went into DEP for a few months waiting for 1 of the two jobs I wanted! I got an 88 on my asvab
@@kirakphillips462how do u go into it like do u say u want one job

Good luck in your move
Welcome to Texas.
Thank you!
Try the Air National Guard after active duty.
Was this your choice, out of curiosity and will we see content of the new career field as well?
This was my 2nd choice!
You should be captain firefighters
Hey did you see alot of terrible things in firefighting? and how did you handle it?
Not a whole lot, but if I did, it’s best to talk to people about it. Don’t bottle your feelings and frustrations in. One thing ab this career field is that you’ll have the best brothers and sisters you’ve ever met. It’s easy to create great relationships and to confide in them🤍
@kirakphillips462 ok thanks ❤
I know how you feel I just PCS from FL to CA
it’s bittersweet 🥲
My how things have changed since I was an USAF Firefighter.
You’re left us 😭🫡

Considering the amount of training that goes into being a firefighter, I'm surprised that the AF doesn't keep you in that MOS (or whatever the AF calls it) at your next duty station. All that training and experience is essentially lost now.
