Use Google. I grow up in St.Kitts ( Caribbean) and we had crabs that came out of the ground. As a kid we would dig holes or add water to their holes and when they run out we catch them. We didn’t eat them we just did it for fun.

Suddenly the roof opens and this huge arm starts taking them one by one, and he could've have done nothing but watch the horror, pressing himself against the wall hiding. In the kettle place a dozen chucked and halved ears corn on the cob, several lbs quartered potatoes, a few heads of peeled garlic, a gallon or two of chicken stock, and your choice of seasoning spices. Voila, instant crab boil! ;-D Really love these videos!

I like to catch crabs when going to the farm with my parents when I was under 7 years old. In Laos and Thailand, there are a lot of crabs in the farm. They dug up holes in the ground and live there. In the USA, there's no crabs in the farm. They are only from the ocean in this country.
In washington we catch our dungeness crabs from the puget sound. Yes it's saltwater from the ocean but it's not considered the ocean that's 2 to 3 hours away.. The best tasting meaty crab, some like it more than king crab but similar and expensive.
Come to Washington and take a kayak out and set traps and come back later and take up to the limit. Salt watering Fishing License required with crab endorsement. Watch out for Orcas.

Holly shit! hearing all those cowbells in the background noise reminded me my childhood as a farm boy in Tuek Vil, S'ang, Kandal, Cambodia. My grandpa would make me herd his 4 cows to his north fields for grass. Oh, super lazy was I. Anchor all cow ropes to the ground, let them have their all-you-eat lunch, I would nap under a mango tree's shade. About an hour or two, the sun walked pass my shade and woke me up. Snack time! Crab, fish, frog, snake, tarantula, turtle, potato, corn, mango, palm fruit, banana ... would be on the menu. Oh, there were plenty of food in this part of Cambodia. To have meat, you just need a few survival skills. Unlike this advance trick and trap to catch crabs, mine was pretty primitive with sticks, a sickle farm knif, hands, eyes, ears and action, plus fire of course. Find, catch and cook. I didn't have to set trap at all because my luck would never run out. Food was just everywhere. By the way, there is a swearing in Khmer in the background of this video.

Fan of Cryo pyro Am back from the underworld, yes I'm Asian too. I use to catch crabs like this in the farm but during that time, I didn't have this great idea yet. I was only chasing them one by one but they were really quick and went inside the hole in the ground when they saw me coming. For those who never experienced this type of catching crabs, they think it's fake. it just like some people experience God and communicate with God for many generations but still people are saying God doesn't exist.
When I was younger I use to know all sorts of tricks of how to find, and catch food. When I lived on the Saint Joseph river in Osceola, Indiana, USA I made a trap to catch fish. I made it out of wire fence, chicken wire. At one end it had a funnel. It also had a door in the middle to open, and take the fish out. I caught more small pan fry fish than I could eat. BTW it was illegal but you'd only get a fine from the department of wildlife and fisheries. I never got caught. Some fished with string lines hooks with floats and weights to catch bigger fish. That must have been legal back then (1960s- 70s) because you'd see the floating plastic bottles. BTW, God had nothing to do with it.
Those are wonderful experiences. The process is more interesting than the result. But I confess I've never caught any land fresh-water crabs that big in my life. But for that type of crab in the video, they are half salt water and half fresh water, right? And even for that type of crab I've never seen that big before, and walking in the grass. In my old country that type of crabs (only 2 types) are either red or complete white, but not that big and black.
I won't speak to the validity of this video, however, people need to research and think before making silly comments. 1) The trap plays into crab behavior, there's a concave toward the narrow bamboo tunnels, and crabs love tight spaces. They also migrate at night, and most are known to be omnivores which makes this marshy grassland perfect. 2) There's a large body of water (2:11) 3) It looked like southeast asia, so I decided to look up southeast asian flags. The flag on the back of his shirt is Cambodian (4:06). There's a province in Cambodia (Kep) known for having an abundance of crabs. 5 minutes of research is all it took. Just because it's the internet doesn't mean you shouldn't think before you speak.
There's one thing u missed I guess. Why not put a basin in the pit already before the visitors came in? That saves your energy from picking them one by one.:)
May work but video seems staged & stocked. 1) Water is still really muddy in front of the trap when hes removing the crabs 2) Same big puffy cloud over the power lines, moved a little left and disipated a bit. 3) Same big thunderstorm on the left side of the shot as hes walking in. 4) Lighting is still the same even though its supposed to be 12h vs 24hr.
Nice way of catching crabs.But did anyone else noticed the 2 water buffalo in the same area and the mud is still wet after 12 hours? Mud dries some after 12 hours and buffalo are always on the move while grazing...just saying.
When I was in Vietnam the locals staked the water buffalo into a small area and moved them daily as needed. Why would you let a cow walk around and destroy your hard made rice leevees. Even if you aren't growing rice it keeps them out of your veggies. Not much fenced land over there.

Holly shit! hearing all those cowbells in the background noise reminded me my childhood as a farm boy in Tuek Vil, S'ang, Kandal, Cambodia. My grandpa would make me herd his 4 cows to his north fields for grass. Oh, super lazy was I. Anchor all cow ropes to the ground, let them have their all-you-eat lunch, I would nap under a mango tree's shade. About an hour or two, the sun walked pass my shade and woke me up. Snack time! Crab, fish, frog, snake, tarantula, turtle, potato, corn, mango, palm fruit, banana ... would be on the menu. Oh, there were plenty of food in this part of Cambodia. To have meat, you just need a few survival skills. Unlike this advance trick and trap to catch crabs, mine was pretty primitive with sticks, a sickle farm knif, hands, eyes, ears and action, plus fire of course. Find, catch and cook. I didn't have to set trap at all because my luck would never run out. Food was just everywhere.

Fan of Cryo pyro Am back from the underworld, yes I'm Asian too. I use to catch crabs like this in the farm but during that time, I didn't have this great idea yet. I was only chasing them one by one but they were really quick and went inside the hole in the ground when they saw me coming. For those who never experienced this type of catching crabs, they think it's fake. it just like some people experience God and communicate with God for many generations but still people are saying God doesn't exist.
When I was younger I use to know all sorts of tricks of how to find, and catch food. When I lived on the Saint Joseph river in Osceola, Indiana, USA I made a trap to catch fish. I made it out of wire fence, chicken wire. At one end it had a funnel. It also had a door in the middle to open, and take the fish out. I caught more small pan fry fish than I could eat. BTW it was illegal but you'd only get a fine from the department of wildlife and fisheries. I never got caught.
Some fished with string lines hooks with floats and weights to catch bigger fish. That must have been legal back then (1960s- 70s) because you'd see the floating plastic bottles.
BTW, God had nothing to do with it.
Those are wonderful experiences. The process is more interesting than the result. But I confess I've never caught any land fresh-water crabs that big in my life. But for that type of crab in the video, they are half salt water and half fresh water, right? And even for that type of crab I've never seen that big before, and walking in the grass. In my old country that type of crabs (only 2 types) are either red or complete white, but not that big and black.

1) The trap plays into crab behavior, there's a concave toward the narrow bamboo tunnels, and crabs love tight spaces. They also migrate at night, and most are known to be omnivores which makes this marshy grassland perfect.

3) It looked like southeast asia, so I decided to look up southeast asian flags. The flag on the back of his shirt is Cambodian (4:06). There's a province in Cambodia (Kep) known for having an abundance of crabs.

May work but video seems staged & stocked. 1) Water is still really muddy in front of the trap when hes removing the crabs 2) Same big puffy cloud over the power lines, moved a little left and disipated a bit. 3) Same big thunderstorm on the left side of the shot as hes walking in. 4) Lighting is still the same even though its supposed to be 12h vs 24hr.
And you see the crabs falling in but not walking up through tube. Maybe pushed through by people...

Nice way of catching crabs.But did anyone else noticed the 2 water buffalo in the same area and the mud is still wet after 12 hours? Mud dries some after 12 hours and buffalo are always on the move while grazing...just saying.
When I was in Vietnam the locals staked the water buffalo into a small area and moved them daily as needed. Why would you let a cow walk around and destroy your hard made rice leevees. Even if you aren't growing rice it keeps them out of your veggies. Not much fenced land over there.
