I had a mole on my back I’ve had for years and my dermatologist was worried about it. I didn’t think much of it, but I let her biopsy it anyway. It turned out to be skin cancer and I needed surgery to remove a whole chunk of skin from that area before it spread! Luckily I didn’t need any other treatment, but I was close to that point. I fear that she went a large portion of her life just letting cancer take over her body to the point she can barely Walk but never got it examined. And we try to get her to go to the doctor when she's complaining about new moles but she doesn't do anything about it. I think she's ready to go honestly. A few good rules to go by are these:
    -Is it dark?
    -Is it growing/changing size?
    -Is it rounded?
    -Was it there before?
    -Is it even?
I generally get all of my moles checked every year, just to be sure and had one of my bigger ones removed about two years ago, when it was starting to get concerning. The biopsy concluded it to be benign but I'm still glad that I went ahead with removing it since it could've turned cancerous one day.

I've had like 14 new moles just appear over the span of 6 months but because of my age if I asked the gp about it I'd be told to "take a hot bath"

Wow I wish I had insurance or was qualified to purchase insurance for myself, bwcause I have a number of questionable moles. Unfortunately in Utah, my husbamd who is a 100% disabled veteran and on VA insurance and my children who have medicaid do...but they say I am in weird insuramce limbo and do not qualify to even purchase insurance.

My thing is that I don't really remember seeing new spots? And just NONE of my moles are circular, and never have been? So how would I know if I did have a new cancerous mole?

Most of the dark spots and freckles on my back and shoulders happened after a bad sunburn and I stupidly put hand lotion thinking it was aloe. My skin blister bubbled up and peeled off and then boom spots all over. This was over 10 years ago

I'm mostly Irish and have natural freckles all over my body but in very small ammounts and they have changed placement and tones over time and for years I was convinced they were sun spots because that's what people were telling me and my kid brain didn't comprehend that freckles can occurr everywhere so I asked people what sun spots were and they told me they could be cancerous so for years I was so paranoid that I would check them everyday to see if they got bigger or changed (which as I said before they did but not more than normal for a kid that's growing) so I was convinced I was going to die because a doctor gave me severe trauma I still haven't gotten over of needles by digging around in my arm for 5+ minutes (my mom kept count not me) when I was 4 and knowing what I did about cancer I was just willing to accept my fate to live in peace. I never told anyone because honestly despite being less than 10 years old i had no friends and had lost the will to live already due to treatment by peers, teachers, adults, and even my family. After a while of no aches or pains and not dying I decided that my cancer must just be wating to ruin my life as soon as I got anything good and ignored it from then on and honestly, I think cancer and other common conditions and diseases should be taught about more in health classes because I was just so ready to accept it all.
