It was melanoma and now I am recovering from surgery. Lucky it was stage 1 so it hadn't spread. Make sure you trust your intuition and get second opinions!!
My mum had a similar mole on her arm that would catch on her tshirts, she’d ask her dr all the time to remove it because it was annoying her but they kept said no it was going to be a hassle and she'd have a scar for nothing, until one day basically the same as you, she went to another dr for something totally random and said oh btw could you remove this mole for me it’s annoying, they said sure. Found out it was stage 4 melanoma and she would have died within months had they not removed it. She battled cancer for 10 years, it spread from her lymphnodes, to her intestines and then to her brain, and she died when I was 16 🥺 I’m so proud of you for speaking about this and for being so brave xxx

My fiancé has a mole on his forehead that keeps changing appearance, he’s had two ‘professionals’ say it’s nothing but it keeps changing & I can’t shift my gut that it isn’t OK. This video makes me realise I shouldn’t ignore it & strive for a 3rd opinion. Thank you!
Please go back to the GP and ask for your boyfriend to be referred to a Dermotlogist. Ask the receptionist if there is a GP who has an interest in skin and see them if possible. Take a photo of the mole next to a ruler and keep photos of the different colours. Do not take no for an answer.
Don't ignore but take a look where you live as well. In India walking around in 38c not a problem do same in Australia you will have a problem in a couple of minutes and may be hospital. We have a serious lack of ozone so no filtering of UV.
I would call up and when speaking to the receptionist say ‘hi I would like to book a surgical biopsy on a suspicious mole on my forehead’, that way they are prepared for when you go in. If the doc says I think it’s fine, say I still want this biopsied or please refer me to someone who will biopsy this as we need this for our piece of mind. Explain that you will not stop until it gets biopsied. Be pushy, because a biopsy procedure is minor they will do it to alleviate your anxiety.
As an oncology worker, a mole that changes size/shape and/or with irregular edges is signs of it being cancerous. Not to scare you, but definitely go to a different doctor
never usually one to comment on videos but after seeing your initial instagram story I plucked up the courage to go and get a mole of mine checked that was slightly raised and pigmented, I’d put it off because I have a massive fear of hospitals/needles but I thought I have to get it checked for my piece of mind! luckily after going to the hospital and seeing the doctor my mole was benign, meaning it was completely normal but I am SO happy that I got it checked and it is so important. I just want to say thank you for sharing this message and I’m sending so much love and hope your results come back okay xxx
I felt the exact same and my mole turned out to be fine, it’s so important to get it checked for that ease of mind. I was so worried for the longest time but I felt silly going to the doctors because the mole wasn’t massive or anything but thanks to Molly Mae I did ☺️
@@Paulina-yv7go Normally you would get these kind of things checked by a/your dermatologist, so not in a hospital. But I guess If you have a hospital appointment, it could still go through (same for GP). Probably depends what hospital though. It’s so sad that many women experience this dismissal of their concerns and their worries. A lot of the time doctors and surgeons think we are over exaggerating about the pain. This really needs to change I’m glad Molly got a third opinion. Pls get as many opinions as you need.
I think doctors are just dismissive in general. They have a set guidance of when they can refer you for further tests, so if you don’t meet that criteria to the T, they will try to brush you off. It’s terrible
I just left this on a other comment! I think we would have less post natal deaths if women were taken for their word by doctors more seriously. It's especially a problem with WOC in the US.

Love the awareness Molly and fingers crossed for your results coming in all good x
You are saving lives Molly-Mae by starting conversations about skin health, as early detection of melanoma is vital. We wish you all the best and thank you for being so open and honest. If your journey prompts one person to check their skin and seek medical advice if something has changed, then you are changing lives.
I was diagnosed with lung cancer in January this year. I was lucky they caught it early enough for it to be “cured”. Fast forward 6 months to June after months of the surgeon constantly changing his mind, cancelling appts etc, we went to the hospital for an face to face appt and it got cancelled when we drove an hr to get there. So my mum flipped and we got another dr who said that they would do the surgery as “I’ve been through enough as it is”. So I had 2/3 of my right lung taken out and am now in remission 😊 it’s all worth it in the end when you get to ring that bell 😭💖
Lung cancer? What? You look so young dear. I’ve never met anyone with lung cancer who wasn’t middle aged or older. We’re you a heavy smoker? Sorry to pry I’m just so curious it’s such an uncommon cancer in younger folk assuming you are the person in your DP. Happy that your in remission and fought the battle.

It's so lovely to see someone who is in the public eye talk about this. I also had the same surgery when i was about 21, but it was on my arm. Thankfully it also wasn't cancer but i often complained about it to the doctors and they finally removed it for me. Your scar looks like its healing so well, unfortunately for me mine didn't heal so nice and have been self conscious about my scar ever since. Until recently when i covered it with a tattoo. People need to get things checked, even if its an inconvenience to them. You're very brave and again I appreciate you making this video and telling people! xx
Honestly thank you so much for being so transparent about all this. Both my parents had skin cancer, so because I’m at such a high risk I constantly have to be aware of every little change on my body, and so many people just think I’m being over dramatic. I think a lot of people don’t realize how serious it is, and your intuition to keep asking doctors when you knew something was wrong was so spot on. I hope you’re well!
Did your parents have melanoma? How are they now? My wife just had a mole removed that tested positive for melanoma. It very shallow .3 so she’s going in for an excision but I’m a nervous wreck. We just had a baby and the thoughts going through my mind are terrible.
Sorry for simping in advance but I wish you would stop saying “I look horrible” when I’m sure 99.99% of people think you genuinely look incredible without makeup Molly, and good luck with the mole situation 👍
I had a mole/growth on the waterline of my top eyelid that had a lot of melanoma-type symptoms, got it checked out by a GP and two ophthalmologists who said to leave it and then a specialist who recommended I had it removed since even if it wasn't cancerous, it would become cancerous. I had the surgery a few months before I turned 18 & started uni, bit it was genuinely the most scary time of my life. Thankfully it was benign, and it hasn't scarred too badly, but early detection is so important!!! So glad it's all removed & you're alright now. Lotsa love xx
That Mole definitely does need removing. My daughter in law was fobbed off and hers was cracked and bleeding. She ended up c3 and had to have immunotherapy. Always get them off. Hope all goes well. Xx
Hey Glenys, I am so sorry to hear this. I am a journalist for the national press and magazines. Would your daughter be interested in raising more awareness by sharing her story? Can she email lucyn@catersnews.com if she is please? Thanks! Best, Lucy
I hope your daughter in law is ok? I am in the same boat having immunotherapy right now. Mine was a rare form of skin cancer unrelated to sun exposure. Immunotherapy is a new treatment and there aren't many treatments out there for advanced melignant melonoma. The best thing to do is to wear factor 50 suncream, avoid sunbathing and sunbeds. If you are concerned about a mole take a photo of it next to a ruler and go to the doctor's straight away. Please do not trust these computer apps that are supposed to identify if your mole is normal or not they are inaccurate. Also be aware you can develop skin cancer in Ares of your body not exposed to the sun.
I went to the doctors after seeing you talk about your story. He referred me into the hospital as a suspected cancer, luckily he thinks it’s benign but wants to check again in a few months to see if there were any changes which could suggest something more sinister. So thankful and grateful for you to raise awareness x

My mum was diagnosed with melanoma this time in 2018 from a mole on her leg she’d had forever. No one ever questioned it until a nurse noticed it at a routine appointment. It’s so important to check, things can very quickly change. Luckily after 3 months waiting for surgery she was given the all clear in early March 2019
the exact same happened to me. i had lymphoma in my bowel and was told by 3 a&e doctors and 1 private doctor that it was nothing and it took for me to be rushed to hospital in an ambulance and almost dying for them to realise it was cancer!! i don't trust doctors anymore haha. everyone i met at the cancer hospital had the same story, cancer goes undiagnosed for so long especially for young people! When I was 19 (I'm now 23) I had skin cancer. Watching this bought so many memories back... that wait for your results when you have a gut instinct something isn't right - it's awful. Not knowing your fate, or what happens next is a feeling so indescribable. I really do feel your pain through this, and it's so so scary how easy it is not to get checked because you think you're 'safe'. If it wasn't for my mum noticing a cancerous mole on my back on holiday, the cancer would've spread around my body and I'm not sure id be here right now. I'm so relieved you're okay, you're so strong and posting this will raise so much awareness for those who think it would never be them xx
I totally agree with you. No one should be hating it’s an awareness video. I’m glad she’s done this video I had my own scare with skin cancer and until somebody like Molly talks about it people won’t take things serious.x
I've been through almost the exact same experience. I had a mole removed when I was 18 and the surgeon told me he didn't think it was anything to be worried about. The mole had to be sent to a board to determine exactly what it was as it wasn't straight forward and then due to a massive communications error, I found out 3 months later I had cancer, then had to wait a further 3 months for surgery. Sending so much love Molly's way, the stress of having an extended wait for the second surgery is awful.

I’m so sorry to hear that and I can’t imagine what you went through 🥺😥

I am really sorry for you and your mom. It's such a shame when doctors don't take us seriously, it's really a problem for women sadly. I lost my mom at a young age as well. May we live in their light everyday ❤
I lost my mum at a young age too with cancer , which spread right through her body to her brain , it’s horrendous for all the family , your mum was an absolute warrior it sounds , like my own , too many doctors nowadays brushing things under the carpet or not taking things seriously.. sending virtual hugs your way x
Even though she is more fortunate than most of us there is something SO comforting and relatable about Molly. After everything she remains extremely humble, lovely and high-spirited and we need a lot more celebrities like this in the world. Honestly how people can dislike this, she’s a lovely girl and a great role model for younger girls! Bringing awareness to this is brill! Keep it up Molly!
Aha
I was so worried for the longest time but I felt silly going to the doctors because the mole wasn’t massive or anything but thanks to Molly Mae I did ☺️
Did you just go to the hospital and they without any problem checked you? Do they still see people & do GP see people during this pandemic?thx
so proud and happy for you x
@@Paulina-yv7go Normally you would get these kind of things checked by a/your dermatologist, so not in a hospital. But I guess If you have a hospital appointment, it could still go through (same for GP). Probably depends what hospital though. Also Covid patients in hospitals mostly are in the icu in hospital beds, an appointment for a mole won't interfere with busy doctors working with covid patients.
@@Paulina-yv7go I talked to my GP over the phone and sent a photo, he then referred me to the specialist dermatology/skin clinic at the hospital where I had it checked out!

I don't think it's just women who have this issue but I agree
I really don't understand why people tear her apart, she's genuinely nice and honest.

Just as well you had a 3rd opinion. It happened to my mum- she was told there was nothing wrong with her beast. Here in Australia we have one of the highest rates of skin cancer in the world. The doctors recommend you get your skin checked like every month here. I’ve been lucky not to ever have a cancerous one. But our UV rays make it so dangerous we get taught skin cancer in schools

As someone who has had moles removed and whose mum has had malignant melanoma, I am ALWAYS telling everyone to check their moles!!!

You're very brave and again I appreciate you making this video and telling people! xx
This is why you should trust your gut and keep getting more opinions from doctors! You did a great job Molly, wishing you the best.
Its still nice to see that Molly mae and Tommy are still together ❤
It's shocking how other doctors said it's nothing serious! My mum had the same proceedure on her arm. Thanks for sharing your story, xx

I honestly feel so bad for her like the amount of stress and anxiety waiting for the results. She is so strong ❤️❤️ sending all my prayers 🥰🥰
I could never get sick of your voice!
I went to the doctors after seeing you talk about your story. He referred me into the hospital as a suspected cancer, luckily he thinks it’s benign but wants to check again in a few months to see if there were any changes which could suggest something more sinister. @@dm_1278 Hi, it was round and symmetrical which is unusual for cancerous ones. Much darker than Molly’s. It appeared when I was 9 year old it look like a freckle but over 5 years grew to be a protruding mole. The signs it may be concerning is if it weeps, is itchy or bleeds. However, even if you don’t have these signs, take pictures make sure it isn’t growing, do some research and get a doctor’s opinion if your concerned it never hurts to ask.
(i was 17 at the time). you just know when something isn't right and doctors don't have that same intuition we have with our bodies, you have to be persistent with them though and get MULTIPLE opinions. glad you're doing okay now and thank you for using your platform to raise awareness for this issue x
