Ancient Sea Fossils Uncovered In The Aquarium Opal Mine!

- Did you know a large part of Australian was once an inland sea ?
Today we had the amazing opportunity to go down the Aquarium Opal mine and help our good friend Warren.
His mine is one of few on the field where ancient opal fossils can be found regularly!
Noah and I climbed down the ladder into the mine and found him working away at the face. He had been finding trace opal and a few good stones here and there.
He handed us the tools and Noah got straight to work using a mini air jackhammer for the very first time!
It became apparent pretty quickly that we where going to have a good day, the colour showed up and went straight in the pocket!
We had some trouble with the blower getting blocked but Warren solved it without a worry. We have to get ourselves one of these!
After a relatively short day we had enough opal in the pocket and enough dirt that had good fossil potential to warrant heading back to camp and putting a load through the tumbler.
We left the tumbler going for a few hours, washing away any clay stone and together tailed out!
We got an amazing surprise finding the shells and we where very well satisfied with the seam opal!
Opal is a treasure in and of itself however having found fossils of creatures a hundred million years old replaced by opal was even more of an incredible find!
It truely doesn’t get much better then this!
I hope you all enjoy the video please leave us a comment and tell us what you would like to see more or less of.

About Us:
Our names are Jaymin Sullivan, James Caruana and Noah Mcdonough we are the ‘Young Guns’ Opal Mining Crew from Discovery Channel tv show ‘Outback Opal Hunters.’
Our love for treasure hunting led us to quit our jobs and move to the desert in search of precious Australian Opal!
It’s a bad day to be a rock!
Those are absolutely amazing! I don't care if they are pitted! They are millions of years old so the fact that they have opalized and survived, not to mention you finding those tiny things, is just mind blowing to me! Great video, men!
Thank you for watching and for commenting a fantastic adventure with an awesome payoff :)
That's why I love buying and helping the beauty already there. Getting to help bringing something so old to light and all its splendor is quite a cool hobby that one day will be proof of the life I've lived and a few gems I'm happy to have brought to light in a way only opal can do. Why I love doing it something that took so long to form and has uts beauty in each piece. And you let it teach you how to shape and anticipate what's there and then get behind the wheel I started buying opal in 2020 the year that shall not be spoken of the year the world broke and the mind control machine the TV tried to take everything away from us lol to mid 2022 and I feel I'm no where near 20 or even 30 years will teach you but I am somewhat confident that if a simply stellar stone was in front of me that I could unearth some type of beauty but I would consider myself so junior novice if any title as an opal or gemstone facetetor of stones very junior novice at best lol let me know where to seriously look for your opals and I'm there. Love the young guns cause I'm 33 and probably get laughed at for doing things I want to seriously I've spend thousands on a few parcels and always looking for good opal from time to time. I have a theory most of the best opal doesn't ever leave the country without at least being cut or really examined prove me wrong by selling me some of what you guys haul in. We can be great business aquantiants I'm sure we can be every know and again life let's me save a few dollars and love gambling on opal at least there's something to show years later from saying I've been gambling lol
I lived in Coober Pedy for 2 years as a child and I would find all these crazy shells everywhere in the red dirt, some looked opalized. Infact opal could be found just sifting through the dirt, a lot was potch mixed with opal. Fascinating place and many supernatural events when I was there. Hope to go back one day.
Coober is awesome I’ve only been there once and can’t wait to go back! Definitely cool things to be found!
When I visited Cairns and the Great Barrier a reef 20 years ago I drooled over the opals at one shop but really fell in love with the chocolate colored potch.
Supernatural!!!! That sounds so interesting!!!!
@@nuiwai5402 Yes! Got followed by 3 bright lights in the sky one night on a drive on a dark road in Coober Pedy. Also plenty of restless spirits there as the cabin we lived in at the caravan park was haunted and my mothers perfumes kept smashing to the ground every night while we were asleep yet my dads aftershaves were perfectly fine and once were broken. We also met a strange man that lived in the same caravan park that used to hold his hands up all the time like a dog when it begs and he could actually speak to dogs. One day he made all these crying noises in a certain way to our dog and our dog howled all day and night non stop. We couldnt understand what happened so the time we saw him we told him what happened and asked him what he said to our dog? He said he told our dog 'it's a hard life being a dog' so obviously our dog agreed lol Not long after the guy moved on but never forgot. Such a strange place with so much mystery attached to it. I could go on for hours about that place lol
@@nuiwai5402 I meant not once were broken about my dads aftershaves only my mothers
This is so much better than the tv show! You and black opal direct are awesome to watch!
I loved outback opal hunters. Cool that you're still at it🤘🤘🤘
Been a few years and will be a few more still before we have had enough of this job 😂🤠⛏
Great to see you young fellas living the life! It’s the Nozz and Wazz show. Well done boy’s keep going with the hard work and you’ll become outback legends. 👍🏻
Thanks for watching! Definitely a fun time working with the Wazz man 🤠🤙🏻
I love the idea of those creatures having been crawling around living their gastropodic best life, and then they come back as a beautiful gem.
Not a bad after life if only we where so lucky to have our skeletons become gems in 100 million years or so :)
@@younggunsopalhunters
Oh yeah, that would be amazing. To stumble across an opalised skeleton the size of a human or even the size of a cat. I can certainly see why some of you guys get so excited over belemnites. I've got what appears to be a (small) opalised ammonite shell. I remember Roy on Roy's Rocks had a really nice opalised mussel shell. Amazing that they come from a time when the planet landmasses looked scarcely like they do today.
Yay!! We got another one!!! Mahalo for sharing always enjoy watching
Thank you for watching!
Wow very cool on the opal shells! Nice job ya alls
Thanks an awesome find!
Would love to see more from that mine! I've never seen opal like that before! Keep up the good ole hard! And thanks for what ya alls do!
I’ve only recently been subbed to your channel. I love opals and am fascinated by your mining and the opals you find. I’ve never heard of nor seen opalised fossils! They are amazing! Much love from the USA!
Thanks for joining the adventure! I’m pretty sure opalised animal fossils have only ever been found in here in Australia!
Definitely a rare and unique find!

Thank you it means a lot! Still learning how to do it but hopefully getting a little better with each new video!
Eureka Yeee Haaa
Well done guys.
Cheers Famo59 👍🍻⛏🤓🔥
Hey thanks for watching!
About time for another epi.... you should look into a film school for an intern from a college so you can produce more episodes and also help some film school major to learn their trade. Also 20 minutes is better time for an episode. Cheers Geno
Thanks for watching! Here a fun fact before we started the YT channel and even before Outback Opal Hunters noah spent 3 years studying at university for film school 😂 not sure how I Jaymin ended up on the other end of the camera but it’s good fun!
If we can keep growing we will do our best to make more videos!
@@younggunsopalhunters put more and more content out ur channel will grow massively
@@bobbyhoward9672 can only make as many eps as the opal shows up 😂 if we found it every week we’d post it 😂 have heaps of videos of us just digging but it’s not too fun just watching dirt move 😂
She better be a cute intern
@@younggunsopalhunters you dont need to find opel to make vlogs...
I suggest you film the ups and the downs boys! heaps more realistic to show what its really like and the costs involved etc,you can film and teach how to grade opel,
how to cut opel
how to sell opel,
But what im really interested in is how to use satellite imagery to find geological formations where opel should or could be present....
If i was you guys id be making the most of col duff to learn his expertise in satelite mapping while you still can! the guy is a bloody wizard...
Im not far from you boys n would love the opportunity to come out for a few days and work for free for some experience....
How can we get in touch with you?
You could Even use your channel to showcase live opel auction sales kind of like the blacklighters do...
some nice colour in that parcel looking forward to you finding something big and chunky
🤠⛏
Man those opalized fossils are about as cool as it gets! Nice work guys
I 💯 agree they are the coolest!
That is absolutely awesome boys. Great to watch. Opal is a miracle in themselves let aloan, finding shells that are opalised
That`s awesome! My friend from Australia sent me some small chips of very pretty opal. She also sent me a jar of vegemite. My friends in America hated it but I`ve been buying it since online. Love the stuff!

Congrats guys, and nice job responding to every single comment, that's a job in itself!
Hahah thanks for watching, it’s a bit of an effort but we love to connect with everyone who helps us by watching the videos!
I first saw you guys on Discovery channel but I must tell you that i prefer your RUclips channel. I’m hooked!!! From Portugal , I wish you find your 1000000 $ pineapple!!!
Wow I spent a lot of time up at the ridge and grawin when I was a kid 30ish years ago, in and out of the mine sharts and the technology has changed so much makes life way easier to remove the excess clay
Here's a tip from a former construction worker... When climbing a ladder never hold the rails, always hold the rungs. To easily find out why stand three rungs from the bottom and try and support your whole body weight with one hand holding the rail. Then repeat with just one hand holding the rung and you'll see why.
Hmmm good tip I can see your point thanks for lookin out 🤠⛏
Wow! Great Haul!! 🦀

Love your channel, keep putting out more vids in the future. Good luck from the USA!

Hahahah best job in Australia that’s for sure!
Thanks for your reply. It's just gone one '0'clock here it's OK I was awake I don't go to bed until it's nearly sun up that's about 3:30 am to 4 am anyway. I'm enjoying the show and a few newbies in these episodes I haven't seen any of the boys at dragonfly claim they were working for two brothers. Hope your well and you find the millions of dollars of shell's and pineapples or some multi coloured black opal. It must be your winter there, as your man said on the news the other day, "australia is a land and country of fires and floods", keep looking for each other , bye
Thanks for watching. Here it is 12:44pm and winter :)
We will keep on digging till we hit the million dollar find and can share that with you all :)
Great job guys!
Thanks for watching!
He dropped so many awesome pieces. I'd LOVE to have a go at the heap at night using blacklight and find all of what he dropped unnoticed.

Thanks for watching we have hundreds of hours of cottage that’s just finding nothing but way more fun to actually find stuff and they are the videos we post :)
Very cool to watch. I watch Black Opal Direct and was wondering if you know him. He sometimes works with seam opal and does beautiful work. I love the fossilized shells of opal, those are just amazingly gorgeous. Cheers and thanks for the education.

No safety glasses boyos? Chip the eye will severely impact your opal hunting you know! Nice take!
reasons not to where them. Are you online safetypolice?😉🙈
They dont need stupid comments like this.. you think they dont know? I can sum up multiple r
Thanks for the concern :) we are mostly working in claystone which is very soft muddy sort of ground when we get onto the hard stuff we put on safety glasses :)
That old Foden tipper in the background looks to have a few years behind it.
She’s beat up but still running, we actually sold it a few weeks ago and it’s working day is done, off to a museum now 😂

Gods... those are practially MADE to be dealt with like i deal with Fire Agate! Small flex shaft machine, diamond dental drills to clean the sand out of the crevices, and polish to a glass finish!
