Ancient Sea Fossils Uncovered In The Aquarium Opal Mine!

  • Did you know a large part of Australian was once an inland sea ?
Today we had the amazing opportunity to go down the Aquarium Opal mine and help our good friend Warren.
His mine is one of few on the field where ancient opal fossils can be found regularly!
Noah and I climbed down the ladder into the mine and found him working away at the face. He had been finding trace opal and a few good stones here and there.
He handed us the tools and Noah got straight to work using a mini air jackhammer for the very first time!
It became apparent pretty quickly that we where going to have a good day, the colour showed up and went straight in the pocket!
We had some trouble with the blower getting blocked but Warren solved it without a worry. We have to get ourselves one of these!
After a relatively short day we had enough opal in the pocket and enough dirt that had good fossil potential to warrant heading back to camp and putting a load through the tumbler.
We left the tumbler going for a few hours, washing away any clay stone and together tailed out!
We got an amazing surprise finding the shells and we where very well satisfied with the seam opal!
Opal is a treasure in and of itself however having found fossils of creatures a hundred million years old replaced by opal was even more of an incredible find!
It truely doesn’t get much better then this!
I hope you all enjoy the video please leave us a comment and tell us what you would like to see more or less of.

Those are absolutely amazing! I don't care if they are pitted! They are millions of years old so the fact that they have opalized and survived, not to mention you finding those tiny things, is just mind blowing to me! Great video, men!

That's why I love buying and helping the beauty already there. Getting to help bringing something so old to light and all its splendor is quite a cool hobby that one day will be proof of the life I've lived and a few gems I'm happy to have brought to light in a way only opal can do. Why I love doing it something that took so long to form and has uts beauty in each piece. And you let it teach you how to shape and anticipate what's there and then get behind the wheel I started buying opal in 2020 the year that shall not be spoken of the year the world broke and the mind control machine the TV tried to take everything away from us lol to mid 2022 and I feel I'm no where near 20 or even 30 years will teach you but I am somewhat confident that if a simply stellar stone was in front of me that I could unearth some type of beauty but I would consider myself so junior novice if any title as an opal or gemstone facetetor of stones very junior novice at best lol let me know where to seriously look for your opals and I'm there. Love the young guns cause I'm 33 and probably get laughed at for doing things I want to seriously I've spend thousands on a few parcels and always looking for good opal from time to time. I have a theory most of the best opal doesn't ever leave the country without at least being cut or really examined prove me wrong by selling me some of what you guys haul in. We can be great business aquantiants I'm sure we can be every know and again life let's me save a few dollars and love gambling on opal at least there's something to show years later from saying I've been gambling lol

I lived in Coober Pedy for 2 years as a child and I would find all these crazy shells everywhere in the red dirt, some looked opalized. Infact opal could be found just sifting through the dirt, a lot was potch mixed with opal. Fascinating place and many supernatural events when I was there. Hope to go back one day.

@@nuiwai5402 Yes! Got followed by 3 bright lights in the sky one night on a drive on a dark road in Coober Pedy. Also plenty of restless spirits there as the cabin we lived in at the caravan park was haunted and my mothers perfumes kept smashing to the ground every night while we were asleep yet my dads aftershaves were perfectly fine and once were broken. We also met a strange man that lived in the same caravan park that used to hold his hands up all the time like a dog when it begs and he could actually speak to dogs. One day he made all these crying noises in a certain way to our dog and our dog howled all day and night non stop. We couldnt understand what happened so the time we saw him we told him what happened and asked him what he said to our dog? He said he told our dog 'it's a hard life being a dog' so obviously our dog agreed lol Not long after the guy moved on but never forgot. Such a strange place with so much mystery attached to it. I could go on for hours about that place lol

Oh yeah, that would be amazing. To stumble across an opalised skeleton the size of a human or even the size of a cat. I can certainly see why some of you guys get so excited over belemnites. I've got what appears to be a (small) opalised ammonite shell. I remember Roy on Roy's Rocks had a really nice opalised mussel shell. Amazing that they come from a time when the planet landmasses looked scarcely like they do today.

Here's a tip from a former construction worker... When climbing a ladder never hold the rails, always hold the rungs. Then repeat with just one hand holding the rung and you'll see why.

Is Outback Opal Hunters still going? Are you guys still going to be on it if it is? I really really want more content. I loved the show and I love seeing you guys work! If the show isn't still going maybe hire someone to film and edit? Idk just a thought! Love y'all! Thank you for your hard work and the content!

@@younggunsopalhunters It's a pleasure to see behind the scenes that we don't get to see on telly in England, Wish I was 21 again to emigrate down under and get into Mining.

Gods... those are practially MADE to be dealt with like i deal with Fire Agate! Small flex shaft machine, diamond dental drills to clean the sand out of the crevices, and polish to a glass finish! Then have them wire wrapped with 24k wire with a few of their buddies in a freeform "heady" pattern that looks like a reef of some kind!
