When I was younger we were working an opal mine at Lighting Ridge. 40+ up top so headed down the shaft and got to the bottom of the ladder only to hear all this rustling in the tunnels. My eyes hadn't adjusted to the dark so my torch did stuff all and I completely crapped myself thinkig someone else was down there with me. Turned out to be frogs sliding down the dirt piles.
I really enjoyed this. My only critique being, you should say how much you'd estimate different chunks of opal to be worth, for those who know nothing of its value.

I've done a fair bit of tunnel mining & it was the second thing that came to mind, for fresh air & dust removal. After watching him go down that ladder I'd be widening that entrance shaft first. It'd be a bugger trying to get someone out if injured. Need a gas detector down there too. Fluorescent ropes from exit to mine faces would come in handy, if they broke through to an underground spring & lights went out they could have a problem. Things can happen really fast in tunnels & many have died over the years.
@@1starshot I go in old mining tunnels a lot where I live and it still freaks me out each time. But then I think about how in most cases things are alright.
@@1starshot yeah i agree to be honest they need to put up wood scafolding like a normal mine just to keep the sturcture but that seems like a very dangerious mine to be honest in my opinion

Cant get out there for a few months boys but you can rest assured that I will be touching base before the end of the year.
I would like to support you in your endevours to strike the mother lode and am sure that you have what it takes to chase your dreams to the end.
I will keep in touch from time to time and keep watching your progress with rapt attention.
I wont turn up without a few cartons and a good feed for the whole crew.
In the meantime, keep on digging and working hard at it.

For the time you spent digging you got some great pieces of colour
We had an idea of where to look the ol fella before us was pretty keen on that area and told us he used to pull out small pockets continuously rather then one nice big one. Hopefully will find that big pocket one day tho 😂
Nice quality H D looking footage , crisp!
Thanks for watching just shooting with a GoPro hero 9 and an iPhone maybe some better gear in the future but she goes alright!
Wow you got come really good pieces
Definitely!
Awesome guys I hope you find some nice pieces!
Thank you 🙏
Hi guys. I've always wondered what you do about ventilation at the bottom of those mines. Do you have a blower up top to keep fresh air coming in?
Gotta be careful using a leaf blower some of them route the exhaust into the air they blow out
@@sirbeast9726 but it was a bargain! Lol

Never been here before.... this video was trending on RUclips. Good to see young blood opal miners in action. Please follow through with the next videos and let us know how much money those opals are worth.
Good luck hope you find a monster streak of opal.
That’s what our dreams are made of 🙌🏻 one day!
Thanks for the support!
Idk how I got here but I'm glad I found this channel.
Hahaha thanks for finding us!
The hard patch is likely caliche or some similar vein. We have that everywhere out here in Vegas where I live.
Great stuff fellas. Would like to see more uploads but will take what content you guys have the time to provide. I really like watching people search for new wealth, doesn't matter if its opal, gold, etc. always such an interesting process with interesting people. Cheers mates!
Thank you for taking the time to watch and comment! We will do our best to get more videos out it just take a lot of extra work to make them happen but it is wonderful to be able to share the journey with you all!
