  • This video was a suggestion from a friend of mine.
So, I will preface this by stating that I am a self-taught knitter in the days before RUclips or even the internet. So, I kind of made up my own methods for doing things. Some might be things that other people were taught as having specific names, but I just don’t know them. I also hold my needles in an unusual way. I have since learned there are 2 “common” ways to hold them. My way is neither of those, so I have no idea if it has a name either.
If you don’t already know this casting technique, you’ll have no trouble picking it up very quickly. It makes for a very attractive and super-stretchy edge to your knitting projects. I used this cast-on (with a knit draw-string cord at the waist band) for the waistbands of the wool longies, shorties, and skirties (wool knit cloth diaper covers) that I knit for my daughter when she was in cloth diapers.
