They really hit their target market on the nose. I'd say add a spare battery or two and they have a complete system.
Indeed! Thank you for watching and I'm glad you liked it!
That is a really well thought out bike.
If you are able to give feedback to the manufacturers I have a suggestion. How about the option to have a small wind turbine generator. The blades can be removeable and it would give a better option for people like me who ride all day and want to camp overnight but also charge the battery.
Even a small portable turbine if you happen to pitch near a stream would be more useful than the solar panels.
LOL you got to be kidding !!!! How much do you think that shit weighs ?
That would definitely be an interesting add-on but I think it would be fairly heavy.
@@WayPointSurvival I bet it would weigh less then the SOLAR PACK
@@CORNDODGER I looked at a small one 80w weighed about 7 pounds, they are not built for being light but I expect they could be. Also I have seen someone use an ebike motor to make a wind turbine generator
there is a product called a water Lilly that is just that and maybe exactly what you want
Wow! Impressive! Went to website ... bike $1,999.00 for Christmas. Additional $1,000.00 for the inverter and solar panels. Ouch.
Yes, it is a bit pricey but it really has a lot of options for someone who is thinking preparedness.
@@WayPointSurvival yeah prepare to be broke asf.....
@@fl1ntlock1 that's nothing new 😅
That with the 750 credit
I was surprised by the price, well below what I expected. Thank you for continuing to present the best new ideas for this type of equipment that may play a vital role for those stuck in a city environment. James, your previous electric-assisted bike-bugout video four months ago spurred me to do some deep research on this subject. I found the JohnnyNerdOut channel. The man is a walking encyclopedia on the subject of electric drives and bike builds. From that channel, I learned about the pros and cons of rear hub drives vs Mid drive setups. Mid-drives are absolutely the best. That would be the only fault I could find with this great-looking Mokwheel Basalt, the rear hub drive. I am thinking at least one unit would be a good idea for Beautiful Bride to run errands economically and go across town in an emergency to her Mom's house. Heavy traffic and lack of parking spots would be no problem. Only heavy flooding or a wide fissure across the road from an earthquake could stop one of these bad boys. Solar is a plus except in typhoon season. We can have days of overcast during that time of the year here in the Philippines. Additional means of charging batteries are mandatory in our location.
Thanks, glad you enjoyed the video!
I have an e- bike. It’s called a Jetson. Paid cash for it at Sams. Cost less than half of a Mokwheel. But it’s not off road. Max speed is about 35 or so, and that’s moving downhill. Jetson at Sams Club is a good option if you can’t afford much, or if you have bad credit.
Thanks for watching! The best part of this system is the ability to charge it with the solar panel.
They are good with a cart behind it for bugging out. We have a regular bike with the cart behind it both for resupply during an emergency and as a bug out vehicle. But distances here are much shorter than in the US and the roads will be clogged up with cars. In a flood we bug in and leave by boat after the immediate emergency has passed.
Fantastic piece of equipment! I love that solar gear set up.
Thanks for watching!
That is a great design and setup. I could use this to get around my property, arthritis in my knees limits the ability to get back into the woods. This bike would help get me back out to my old camping and fishing spot. It's expensive but better than wishing you could do the things you used to do. It's about mobility.
Indeed. It has a lot of uses, for sure!
I just saw this video as I knew I missed a few... I'll say this: while the bike and inverter is a bit pricey, it's well worth it. I can see this easily going off road and allowing an escape if needed. VERY cool!
Yes, it's a really wonderful concept and pretty well put together as a package!
👍👏🏻 one of the best reviews of anything I have ever seen. Good job 🌟
Thanks so much!
Thank you and be blessed.
Thanks for watching!
one has to be so fortunate to be able to buy this
It is a privilege to have one for sure.
this open up so much possibilities for survival off grid with the right gears
Agreed!
May you and yours have an amazing and Merry Christmas and prosperous and Happy New Year!
Thanks, same to you!
Wow, eminently practical.
Especially for me, I live in the desert, one could bug out deep in the desert without giving up electric power
Thanks, it would indeed be great for that!
Thanks for doing the review. Huge solar panel, that's awesome!
Thanks, it really is pretty cool!
That is an amazing bike James, and and such an awesome deal with those accessories!!!
Yes, it really is. Thanks so much for watching! Merry Christmas to you and yours!
@@WayPointSurvival thank you, and Merry Christmas to you and your family as well, James!!!
Just saw your video and all I can say is wow! If this thing has a long term reliability then I'm all in with this bike.
It really is a unique system and well worth a close look, I believe.
Thx for the vid, I think others will follow the lead. Some are already talking about this type of set up an working on it, but this mite be the first that I've heard of doing the solar recharge setup.
Yes. It's unique. That's why I agreed to test it out.
Hello from Detroit Michigan brother thank you for taking us on your adventure through time and the woods
Thanks for watching!
That's very cool 😎 but I'm sorta broke 😅
That battery is probably lighter than a piece of firewood 😆
Depends on the size of the firewood...
James thank you for bringing this e bike to my attention I'm been trying to figure out a few years how bould a ebike with everything they have and when I get enough money together I'll be getting one this
I'm a long time viewer and first time commenter please keep up the good work.
Excellent, I'm glad that you liked the video and found it useful!
@@WayPointSurvival when I get mine I'll be using it for traveling and filming videos as well
I have a Walmart sidewalk Cruiser style bike an Onyx Genesis I believe. I got one of those Motors that used to dwell within a washing machine at the beginning of the 20th century. It doesn't really use my needs. The constant chainsaw snarl is just too much. I have been glancing at the electric bikes. This one sound pricey as all get out though.
It's actually a pretty good price when you consider all that it offers. Many e-bikes cost between $3,000 and $5,000.
@@WayPointSurvival true. But there's some good used cars and or motorcycles available for that.
As long as gas is affordable... The solar is free power after the purchase.
James you always come up with the coolest stuff whether you make it or you find it it's just always something cool. You the man! Merry Christmas James to you and your family may God bless as I know he has. Stay vigilant my friend!
Thanks so much! May God bless you too and a very Merry Christmas to you and yours as well!
@@WayPointSurvival thank you as well James
Nice setup.
Thanks!
That's a good system. I'd like to have the solar panel if they sold them separately.
You can buy them separately.
Thanks!
Thanks for watching!
A bike for rough stuff touring should have fenders that go down below the hubs. Sadly this is a feature only custom bikes have. It used to be standard an all touring bikes many decades ago.
Indeed. Thanks for watching!
That is very interesting even without a grid down senario .just around town for gorcerie run or fishing trip just about anything
Indeed!
Interesting. I'll look into that one. I've researched quite a few other Ebikes and most have failed to impress me. I now live off grid in an RV about 10 miles from work and I have a butt load of solar power that I built onto my cargo container that am currently not using until I finish building my house. It would be nice to have a vehicle to get to work on that I don't have to fuel, register or insure but most of the Ebike manufactures will not sell a spare battery pack that you can externally charge or if they do it costs just about as much as a spare bike. I would need a spare battery that I could charge during the day while at work when I am at peak solar power production that I could use the next day while the battery I used the day before charges. Also steering dampeners and a rear suspension would be nice with these rough roads out here. Most of the Ebike companies design their bikes so that if you try to do any user maintenance, repairs, modifications or try to use any aftermarket battery parts the bikes tank on you so for a nerd like me who likes to maintain and tinker with my stuff that puts me in a box I don't like to be in. Particularly if I were to end up out on the bum again or in a bugout situation. The slightest malfunction and I would have to jettison the bike and go back to hoofing it or riding the rails. At least a cheap mountain bike I could scrounge parts for as needed to keep it rideable.
Yes. So far this one has been fairly impressive. I'm pretty sure that you can buy an extra battery but I'm not sure of the cost.
Thanks James and a great review of an awesome bike!
Thanks, my friend and Merry Christmas to you and yours!
COR! 😳😳😳 thats an ace bike! if i could afford one (and was able to ride one!) then id definitely get one!
Thanks so much for watching!
Man you need a dual sport. Great for camping
I have a KLR 650.
Beautiful mountain bike 🚲
Indeed!
That is awesome 👌
Thanks!
Let's see you shove that in a Stanley Cook cup! God Bless and merry Christmas!
Right? God bless you too and Merry Christmas to you and yours as well!
Sweet set-up.
Thanks!
Great system James. Thanks and take care. Happy New Year
Thanks, my friend and Happy New Year to you as well!
Good afternoon from a snowy and windy Syracuse NY brother
Good afternoon to you as well!
Thank you my friend
Fantastic video James, that's one amazing package! Cheers 🇨🇦
It really is! Thanks for watching!
Very cool, way yonder out of my price range but very cool nonetheless. Cheers
Thanks for watching!
Merry Christmas to you and yours James !
And to you too!
if you talk to the company it might be worth mentioning a trailer hitch option for it!
That would be cool.
good review
Thanks!
Would have been nice to get a ball park figure for this thing. My guess is that it's going to be north of $5,000 with all the add-on accessories.
Less than 3k, actually.
Are you ever going to do the part to of your going to cabin the bugging out
I don't intend to do it at this point, but maybe in the future. Thanks for asking.
Get a spare battery it'll fit on the back rack too...charge 1 use one... rotate them
Indeed.
Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year everyone
Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year to you and yours as well!
You are welcome my friend
Happy holidays James Cheers✌
Thanks, and Merry Christmas to you and yours as well!
2500.00 dollars might be too expensive for some. Like me 😆
However, it has a lot of uses more than just powering a bicycle.
that's exciting,I like the concept
Thanks so much for watching!
I've seen the Amish using them just north of me, they use them daily.
Yes. They are remarkable.
Do any of these charge by 12v cigarette plug in car? That would be helpful on a road trip.
I think some of them do accept 12 volt car outlet charging.
Great review James, but now I want one.
Thanks!
The biggest drawback for this bike, the solar panel and inverter is the price. Almost $3k total.
Actually many e-bikes by themselves run between $3,000 and $5,000, so the price is actually pretty good considering everything that it can do including the solar panel and the inverter.
To Mr Bender from Dale vodden
I want to wish you a very merry Christmas and a happy New Year stay warm stay safe and may God bless Merry Christmas
Thanks so much and same to you as well! God bless!
Great review James , thanks for sharing , God bless brother !
Thanks so much and God bless you too!
Another great vdo
Thanks!
@@WayPointSurvival love to get one but just retired. But maybe yes. How long will deal last thru your channel
It's not through my channel, it's the company that has the sale right now. I'm not sure how long they are going to run it.
Wow, very impressive bike.
Thanks for watching!
Excellent idea could be very useful.
Indeed, thanks for watching!
THIS IS A GREAT THOUGHT OUT BIKE AND IT'S CHARGER'S , SOLAR PANAL.. THE $$$$ HOW MUCH ,,.. UP FRONT?? THANK'S,,...
It depends on the price of the package that you order and the sale that's going on. Right now there's some really good deals available.
Sounds like a good idea but expensive....plus not very many places to ride safely.... But looks like a great invention.
Thanks, it is really a great idea brought to fruition!
Can you forego purchasing their solar panel and use a portable solar panel you already own? Thanks.
Ad long as the connection is right. However, you need the inverter to actually charge it as well as it needs to step up the volts etc.
@@WayPointSurvival Is the connection a universal fit for other solar panels? Their website doesn't show it hooked up or the actual cable connection. I'm also wondering if you can use the inverter with another brand ebike that is less expensive. Their website doesn't show the battery connection port. Their bikes are expensive, however, they could sell to customers on a budget who cannot afford their bikes if this was an option. Their customer base would increase in volumes if that was an option. For example, buying a lectric ebike for $1k at half the price would be much more feasible for a lot of people. They wouldn't sell a bike, but they'd sell the inverter at a minimum and on a large scale, it might be a lucrative avenue for them.
I don't know if it's a universal fit for other panels or not. Sorry.
Can you do another video to tell about the tires?
Nothing special about them, they're just fat bike tires.
No electrical experience question: so solar power generates DC current, right? And a battery stores DC current. Why do you need an inverter? That's meant to take DC and turn it into AC. I mean yeah you would need the inverter if you wanted to take the solar panels and use it for a microwave or something but for a battery? Am I missing something???
It has to do with the amount of power that's generated to charge the battery. I believe it steps up the current in order to do that.
@@WayPointSurvival so it's a transformer? Or acting like a transformer? Oh wait, transformers only operate because of the AC principle, so you would have to convert it to AC before you could step it up in voltage wouldn't you. So the solar cells are rated in Watts and batteries operate on high volts so you need to step it up in voltage, okay I get it now.
First off, Merry Christmas from all us to you and yours.👍
I have a question, does peddling also charge these E bikes? I'm a little intrigued but need to know more about them.
Thank you and Merry Christmas to you and yours as well! No, they don't recharge as you pedal them although hopefully one day that will be something they get figured out.
Cheap lightweight inverters can't handle large in-rush current items like desktop PCs and microwave ovens.
This one actually can.
That's pretty cool. ]
Thanks!
Pricey but awesome!
It's a really amazing system for sure!
Where is snow?
It's on the way!
How long would it take to charge up with a solar panel?
As I stated in the video, between 4 to 5 hours in direct sunlight.
awesome review my friend
Thanks!
theres no foldable bikes and no pure sine wave inverters. tight lines
Thanks for watching.
Wow, daddy liles
Thanks!
🚲🚲
this is the first e-bike I would be interested in buying. very nice presentation. do you know the range?
It will go between 60 and 80 miles on a charge depending on terrain and how much you engage the assistance.
@@WayPointSurvival thank you. I reached out to this company and have initiated a purchase. I also thanked them for allowing you to review their product, so I could make such an acquisition. your channel is awesome!
@@short-hand4312 That's great! I think you will really like their products!
So you loose 4 to 5 hrs of daylight travel time to recharge ?
If necessary.
@@WayPointSurvival okie dokie
I paid 1,500 for a 2001 Chevy Silverado and drive it everywhere. 2,500 for a electric bicycle is too much money for me. But if someone lived in the city I can see this being perfect for that.
I agree the solar is only 230 watts and is 600.00. Average cost for solar should be 1.00 per watt.
It really depends on what you're going to use it for. Thanks for watching.
A step back in the future. Ride only every other day and out by 3k. What a setback. Where is civilization been all this time.
Depends on whether or not the grid is functional. You can always just ride it like a normal bike.
Well it's not a bad idea to have one for me I just can't afford it unless the price drops around say $ 200.00 Dollars but the solar panel would be nice to have and the convertor with it as far as you video excellent and informative as always you're never going to lose me as a subscriber heck one day I may even show up down there in Ohio to take a course get the money up yeah I'm that broke you have a very merry Christmas Happy New Year and may God bless my friend and hunker down and stay warm cuz this storm's going to be a wicked storm it's going to be colder than cold again Merry Christmas Happy New Year and God bless my friend
Thanks so much! I would love to have you in a class. Also, merry Christmas to you and yours as well! Stay warm.
What is the incline or steep of a hill will it go up?
The hill I climbed up was about 25 to 30°.
Has anyone ordered this from Mokwheel? I was all set to order then i saw their Google reviews, which were pretty bad. People saying they ordered from crowd funding and never receiving it and other problems. Anyone get one?
So far I haven't heard anything bad about them..
Are you going to buy one of these, or did they give you this one?
As I stated in the description box, this was given to me. I allowed them to send it to me for testing, evaluation and filming.
Neet stuff but I can't seem to get over the price.
I understand. However, going forward, I believe we're going to need to have ways to get around and generate our own power that doesn't depend on others period
🤗💓
if i had that bike it would sleep next to my bed
Price
That depends on the type of bike that you order and the package that you choose. Also, it depends on what kind of sale they are currently running.
@@WayPointSurvival thx have a beautyfull
Someone needs to make an E bike that recharges from pedaling.
Agreed!
HA HA HA A 2000 DOLLAR COAL BURNING BIKE PROVE ME WRONG
However, if you charge it with the Sun then you don't have to use the coal power, do you?
@@WayPointSurvival Yes that is TRUE but you have less than a 50% chance when you need it
That's why there's nothing like good old coal power!
It looks sooo heavy...?🧐
It's definitely a lot heavier than a non-powered bike but it is pretty manageable. I've seen a 10-year-old girl riding one just like this one.
That's certainly pricey
But really delivers!
A bicycle that comes with financing, means it's to expensive!
Who has that much money for a bike? NO ONE!!
That depends on the situation. It's far cheaper than a car and in some locations would be better.
Nice sounds like the way to go with gas skyrocketing,
Indeed!
If you cant build this yourself, you aren't going to be prepared.
Perhaps slightly too strong of a statement but not far off.
I'm not sure about that. Our ancestors got along pretty well without knowing how to build these.
Nice but way too expensive. Nothing wrong with a human power only bike, lighter weight, nothing to charge, and lots cheaper.
Thanks for watching!
Wait as a old retired BIKE RACER both road and MOUNTAIN lets not say shit like SHIMANO is the best out there FAR FROM IT!!!
If this thing was worth anything it would have KERS built into it!!!! As in it would CHARGE as you ride!!!!! All hybrid race cars use it to CHARGE a Fast Discharge system for more HORSEPOWER a folded up solar panel is not worth a damn and 99% will need to ride in the DAYTIME !!! Not trying to be a DICK but as a person that rode a bike 400 miles a week to train to race this is kinda in my wheelhouse
It might be good for around the house and to the bar and back but for 2 grand its not that great ! Just my review
Thanks for watching and for sharing your thoughts.
I do not like an electric bike . II am fat and need to lose weight and an electric bike won't get the job done
It has a weight rating of 400lb. You probably won't need to lose any weight to ride this one. It's impossible to lose weight over Christmas anyway.
I'm a big guy and I'm not going up any steep hills but if you have fairly flat are it works. They are sturdy but a a result they are heavy
It really will haul a fairly tremendous amount of weight. If you are interested in something like this it would be a great way to get started on a training program to get in shape.
does it come with the inverter and solar panel or is that extra
You can buy it as a package deal.
@@WayPointSurvival tks
