Yes, the farm works in 1.20.6
If it is not working for you remember to build it towards north (water should flow towards south direction). If you are playing on multiplayer, it won't work on PaperMc servers, use Vanilla. Hope it helps, Like this so others can see too

this is goated ty. For everyone wondering, it works for me on Java, not sure about Bedrock, and I am on my friends server and it works. He himself hosts it so that might be why other people are saying it doesnt work on other mp servers, but on this one it does. Thought it was too good to be true but it was a great video and works amazing ty.

It works. Slow video down to 25% and watch from 1:00. Write down the steps if you are a doofus like me. Doors up. Place water on each door. Put doors down. That lowers the water so you can install trip wires and strings. Install strings and trip wire switches. Standing on the west wall, face east. Place block on far trap door using shift-click then the switch. Now stand facing east on top block. Switch should be down. Doors should be down. Take shears and locate flat outline of string above the water. Click on that then immediately click on switch to raise it. Should work. An amazing amount of string. If you have problems with the string and trip wire set up two blocks and play around with it. Thanks MineLand for sharing this with us.

This works on Java version, and solo world only.
On multiplayer, it works for a second, and produces randomly 3-9 strings, but the server tick catches on and stops the duping so, don't expect to build this on a mp server.
It grows here. It worked on one server without any problems. On the second one (same server but different world) not anymore
@@ziomex5799 Solution is to reduce contraption to only 1 string between tripwires hook. And make a short redstone clock.

It works, you just need to cut the string and immediately activate the lever.

You can improve the emerald rates in 3 ways:
- trade the string with the fletcher, he offers it at the 4th or 5th tier for less string
- defeat a raid and the trades will be much cheaper as a reward from villagers
- cure a zombified fletcher/fisherman to get cheaper string trades
this farm is too op i don't think thats necessary
For those who can’t get it working, try flipping the lever before the tripwire corrects itself. It shouldn’t matter what direction you face to build or activate it, but the first place I found this said to build mine facing north or west. It works perfectly fine on the vanilla server I’m on, but I’m whitelisted in the game chat, so that may change things. It’s worked on every world I’ve put it in, whether creative or survival, and it also can be a source of white wool for extra emeralds from shepherds, but I’m most hopeful for it’s potential as a fuel farm as well with the introduction of the auto crafter in the next update. Good luck on getting it working to all to try!

The Villager trading also works with the fletcher on 2. Level for only 14 strings for 1 emarald.
In full honesty, this is one of the best farms I have ever built in hardcore. Thank you. BTW for people who are confused be sure to hit the lever immediately after cutting the string.

If it sounds too good to be true it probably is.
If anyone has problems you have to face east when cutting and use a shear, and try to click the lever as fast as possible after breaking the string, it should work but on some big servers it doesnt

This is so insane, I was upset you couldn’t cure villagers to get 1 emerald trades but this is just easier and better once you get 5 or 6 fisherman
for those of you who cant get it to work try facing west when you cut the string cause that's what I did and it worked.

if this farm doesnt work you are trying to make it on server software that actively patches bugs like this like spigot or paper. Do this on either a vanilla server or fabric modded server
At first, it didn't work but that's because I didn't realize I needed to snip the string with shears. Now that it's working... I'm not turning it off. Nope. I made it with an overflow to burn the extras in lava so I don't have to ever turn it off. Hopefully.

Amazing Tutorial, I now have infinite emeralds
If you are in a server which has paper and have various plugin to prevent hacks and duping then it might not work. Try to do it in your singleplayer vanilla world. If it works then it means the server has turned the string duper off.

mine dont work only on my aternos server
i did it in my hardcore world and it worked and now im trying to do it on a hypixel SMP and its not working. I know i know how to do it right cu i did it once on my own world but is it not working just because its multiplayer?

FYI, Fabric appears to break this. Copied my world from a Fabric installation to a vanilla 1.20.1 installation, and then it worked.
It wasn't working till I faced west to break the string
Built it with the water flowing to the north btw, pretty sure it works with south too
Just built this on Java 1.2.4 you must be facing NORTH when you start the build so the water flows SOUTH. Was the only thing that gave me issue, i tried to make it south flowing north and it failed, swapped it and it worked. Right off the bat made 13 emeralds and an ungodly amount of string.

Wow... you have to do exactly what he said with directions and setup. I had it rotated and it did not work. I followed it exactly and it worked amazingly. It is scary how much string you can get. Java 1.20.6

Does this work if you make a smp on a different server, for example if you make an smp on minehut or hypixel.

Wasn't expecting that it would work but it actually did.
Made a big storage system with lava at the end to burn any excess..
stacked 6 of those in a line with water.. insane ammount of strings, I was skeptical and it worked, do it!
for a better rate of emerald income, use fletching table and let the villager become a fletcher. He will trade less string for a same amount of emerald, also he might have a chance of trading sticks which is really easy to get. By this way, you can easily trade for mending books when u finally have librarian.

Hello to everyone here and who are wondering why it doesn't work. Especially on my server which runs in paper on multiplayer, please do check in your folder, go to config>global then scroll down until you see "allow-tripwire-disarming-exploits" set it to "true". Hope this might helps out especially on paper servers. Happy Duping everyone!

still works in 1.20.6 took a few trys to do mainly because I have no brain cells but works great ( extra tip you should be able to make inf wool with this by using string to craft wool)
GUYS THIS IS NOT FAKE. I don’t know why it won’t work for y’all but I am on Java 1.20.4 and it works perfectly fine. You might have to build it in a different detection and also make sure you shearing the right piece. Also try switch the position of the lever as when I switched it it worked!

THIS IS THE ANSWER WHY IT IS NOT WORKING: if you are using forge, it will NOT work. i have tried it many times and it just wouldn't work, no matter how quickly i flicked the lever. you mustn't use forge, use vanilla version or optifine, some multiplayer servers also don't work. hope this helped

NOTE: Do NOT accidentally leave this running while you go to the nether or go exploring. Learned the hard way when i almost lost my world by letting it accumulate while i went to find bastions and the game kept crashing in a loop. I had to allocate 8GB of RAM through the launcher and open the world to lan to go to creative and quickly burn the strings that accumulated cause they ate up all the game's memory. Other than that, farm works great.

after i make it work by switching to java 1.20.4. i change it back to forge and it will keep working. @@Soevere
