Thanks! This fixed my starting issues!! It has always had long cranks and this code popped up! I didn’t know how to update the pcm so I had the dealership do it they charged me 150.00 and Tried to tell me my head casket is going out. And he said it wasn’t fixed for the starting issues but it’s firing up on the 1st try now!
A most valuable tip for most everyone, check for TSB's for defects, recalls, program updates, etc...It may save you a lot of heartache...Thanks again...

HEY KEITH I JUST SAW ONE OF YOUR VIDEOS REFERRED TO ON IATN..., IT WAS ABOUT THE LIMITED / NO DIAGNOSTIC ACCESS TO SOME FCA VEHICLES . I MUST SAY YOU ARE REALLY OUT THERE WHEN YOUR NAME IS BEING MENTIONED ON IATN . THANKS AND TAKE IT EASY ALL THE BEST !
I have never got my head around why a 9 year old car has been running fine with no faults suddenly requires a PCM software update? What changes to cause the fault so much it need this?
Chain wear in this case I believe is the culprit. They made the tolerance too tight. Remember that the ckp relearn is to be done after a chain replacement as well
@@michaelovers688 shop replaced my alternator and couldn't figure out how to correct this code. Is this update to be done from laptop to the scan tool, then connect to rhe Honda ?
If it is just a software problem, then why is it only showing up right now. Or does the wear and tear just take a significant toll on the car that any minor software issues would eventually show up.
What program is that and obd reader. I have a scanner but it is not capable to do relearn process, it was expensive too. i've been chasing my tail with this problem. Thanks for this video its excellent.
Does honda charge for this update? I have been having a rough time. I now have a Honda starter put into my car. Code 339. Crank relearn has been done. Help!!! I am having a rough time.
thanks Keith!! I was wondering the app is basically downloading the new calibration on line not in data base? , you are connected the internet of course the past trough devise is plug in
@newlevelauto. Can you please help I’m having the same issue. Can you please tell me what connection “wire” or tool you used to update the car pcm from your laptop. Please and thank you.
p0339 denso oem dealer only starter and crank sensor is a must denso aftermarket did not work for me and cost me lots in unnecessary repairs also do a crank relearn after starter and sensor replacement
honda doesnt charge programming update??? i just did one the other day for a 2009 honda civic for thermostat code. i had to pay 10 dollars for subscription and 20 for programming?? am i missing something lol..
I am having the same issue. Did anyone actually do this themselves??? If yes which pass thru device did you use exactly and the software cost 10 dollars for one day correct? (my mechanic just changed the crankshaft sensor and it did not work help)
Update: I went to honda dealer and they told me I need the spark plugs changed. They said they usually go bad after 115k miles. Took me 10 minutes to do myself and my car is working fine now.
The closest Honda dealership is 55 miles away and my 2009 accord is in limp mode wont go past 30mph. Some guy in my Honda grouup says he can perform the update if I ship him my pcm computer and also do a ckp relearn for $80. Is someone able to do that with the pcm off the car?
Aftermarket starter is the issue. Doesn't crank the engine fast enough to satisfy the crank sensor, and trips the code. (P0339) Took me a LONG time to figure this out on my Accord.
My Acura tl needs this service but no shops in my area know what I'm talking about lol. So it's called a crank relearn?? I feel like I'm in the twilight zone.
How long did it take for the customer to come back with the same symptoms? Just curious if anyone has found an actual fix because I've done this a d fixes the problem for a bit but always comes back. I hold my breathe everytime I start my car
Great video..had the dealer perform the update..new sensor, new battery, checked timing, did the 'drive at 2500 RPM" ..and STILL getting a P0339 error. !?!!?
At this point, I wish! Chicago. I recently replaced the spark plugs, maybe coils next? Sometimes I get a "camshaft position sensor" as well. And not 10 minutes ago: The dreaded Honda limp: won't drive over 3,000 rpm and misfire codes for cylinder 2, 3 and "random". This car has been garage kept its entire life. I planned to keep it forever...so have been very careful. My mechanic thinks maybe it's the variable valve timing solenoid...he's getting a brand new machine and is supposed to check it tomorrow. It's puzzling him too.
Thank you! I will let you know...Honda parts can be pricey, and I don't want to spend a grand on new parts on a car only worth 5. I do not mind refurb'd or a trip to the pick and pull for things that do not have be new - like the coils and filter.
@@NewLevelAuto Wow: Actually the dealer lied. Did not perform that particular update. Want to charge me 80 for a 10 minute fix. Called Honda corporate.."sorry". How much would your guys charge for this?
Slim chance anyone’s still on this but I have this issue! I replaced the crankshaft non oem and had a relearn. My catalytic converter is straight pipe I’m not sure if that’s the reason for loss of power but I keep getting P0339 and the triangle vsa and check engine light comes on after a long crank. Then the engine misfires sometimes it won’t accelerate over 40. I replaced the battery and it ran good for 2 weeks and came back. I’m thinking the issue is grounds, wiring harness, vtec solenoid , valve adjustment , software update , oem starter.
I literally have the same lights on my 2009 Honda Accord 2.4L. I replaced my crankshaft and it’s still having the same issues. My spark plugs are fairly new, and my coil packs are 3 months old so I’m thinking it’s a grounding problem
@@stevencarrion4940 man its sooo frustrating . I disconnect the battery for a couple second to get it out limp mode and then it still runs sluggish. @@Randomvideos2189 from what I was reading on forums and other videos. A lot of people say the software update didn’t help. Some say the starter helped and some don’t, I honestly think it’s a wiring problem, probably a loose ground or something that’s causing the voltage to drop
