By itself, yeah burning is a bit lack luster, but as mentioned it really makes melt far more viable for a lot of teams. Before dendro I never played melt Ganyu. It was far too technically difficult for me at my skill level. I could never keep the pyro aura on the enemies long enough to get a shot in. Burning makes it so much easier since it prolongs that pyro aura long enough for me to get a few shots in with Ganyu. It's renewed my love for my first real DPS unit with a new way to play her that actually has a higher damage ceiling than my freeze team with her. Burning teams seem to work best when combined with a third element (melt, firework, etc).
@@vicked I'd guess they talk about Ganyu-Kazuha-Benny-Zhongli. This team really is a pain in the butt, because you want Kazuha to swirl Cryo while simultaneously absorbing Pyro with his ult. Not only that, it has ER issues, too. I think Nahida is more of a QoL choice for this team, but then again, you basically can't use Ganyu's skills or you're melting too fast, which is kind of a bummer for me. Good old Xiangling might actually be the best choice in terms of QoL and fun factor.
actually burning is quite ok at clearing large groups of mobs. even in the abyss, you can easily set everyone on fire and focus your dps on the bigger enemies while the small fries just burn on their own.
You really should've tried it with Sucrose (for VV shred) and more AoE scenarios, where the effect can stack, when enemies are tightly grouped. That still doesn't make it busted or anything, but it's something.
As others have already said, it really shines when in mobs of enemies. Ig you like seeing numbers, burning is the way to go. I recently got a C1 nahida and have her paired with Raiden, yelan, and Thoma (work in progress). Raiden is the main dps, so when I trigger a burn, I get a bunch of smaller numbers paired with an overload reaction. So many numbers show that things just die. For bosses, I use literally any other reaction. This team gives me access to 8 different reactions and it's very fun.
Oh for sure, it's definitely good against multiple targets. It can be optimized with anemo and VV. Not the best against single target damage, but very good against groups of enemies.
I have a soft spot for burning to be honest. 😂 It's so basic yet so satisfying for me. I also 36 starred the abyss with it and with relative ease than some non-meta teams. I tried Nahida, Kazuha, Venti, Bennett and Nahida, Kazuha, Albedo, Bennett. I prefer Albedo for the crystallize, EM buff, and insane off-field DPS. It cleared the Kenkis like a piece of burnt triple-piece chicken nuggets.
I was kind of half joking when I made this. It's a very good reaction if you can manage to optimize it. It doesn't require grouping which is also nice. With access to more EM buffing characters, the reaction has gotten a lot better.
Since it's DoT, I imagine burning could _maybe_ be usable if you were using it as off-field damage to squeeze out just a bit more dps alongside your main dps. Thinking with the limited characters I have, I'd try Xiangling and Collei for the burning effect, and Razor as a main dps while the burning is active (very f2p friendly). Both Gouba and Anbar both continuously attack while Razor's out, so it's technically a bit more damage. Is it a _good_ strategy? God no. Is it an entertaining idea? Probably.
my favorite way to use burning is with the following team amber collei diona kaeya. setup a burning melt and rmelt it off for a fun little rotation, but strangely enough, i think i have something new to try after watching this.
Before this new artifact set, burning on its own isn't that great, but it's a good catalyst for vape and melt. It's kind of like Bloom on its own is fine but Burgeon and Hyperbloom take it further. Dendro was designed for you to have mixed element teams.
I dived deeper into this and it can deal decent damage. Nahida's C2 will enable critical damages on burning, and her C4 will increase the damage even further by increasing her own Elemental Mastery. C5 and C6 are useless for burning. Nahida's best weapon is her Thousand Floating Dreams R5 level 90, which is a +393 EM total if you run her with two Dendro and one Pyro teammate. If your Thousand Floating Dreams is R3 or lower, or you're not using that weapon at all, then it's better to have one Dendro team member, one Pyro, and one of your choice not being Dendro. If you want to max her damage, Windsith is a gamble. If you win the 33% chances, it will deal more Burning damage than her signature weapon, otherwise it won't boost at all. If you don't have her signature weapon, Sacrificial Fragments level 90 is the second go-to weapon to use, no refinement needed. If you don't have it, then go with Magic Guide, also level 90, no refinements. Talent upgrade is useless, no need for it. Just focus on ascending her, that's all. 4-piece Crimson Witch of Flames gives her a 40% damage bonus, and 4-piece Gilded Dreams give an additional 180 EM if you don't have Thousand Floating Dreams R4/R5, otherwise it's 130 but still decent. Instructor set will be the best to have if you're new to the game. All artifacts must be Elemental Mastery, the rest are pure decoration. Pyro damage bonus does NOT scale your burning, so don't even bother! As for team composition, your Pyro character should NOT be one that attacks with Pyro multiple times, such as Xiangling, and instead you should go for something with low cooldowns, heals, or shields. I personally like Bennett or Thoma to take that role. Your Dendro teammate should also not apply Dendro over Nahida's, so avoid using that character. It's just as decoration. As for the last teammate, I would go with another healer/shielder that doesn't mess up your burning, or someone who can spread the fire to deal with large crowds with Swirl. I would personally pick Zhongli or Sucrose. Make sure to apply Pyro once to each enemy, then target everyone with Nahida's ability, and spam Nahida's normal attacks. The rest? Watch the world burn.
Yep if you stack tons of EM it will do more damage. Combine this with elemental res decrease (vv, zhongli) and it’ll enhance even more. Like you said it does not work with pyro damage bonus. This is because it’s a transformative reaction like bloom (bloom doesn’t work with dendro damage bonus). You can maximize burning this way
Your testing wasn't that bad but it still needed work. Let me explain where you went wrong. Thoma shouldn't be the 1 you want triggering the reaction like at all. It's way better and more efficient to have nahida trigger the reaction since you need consistent dendro application for burning to stay on the target. So with that being said to maximize your burning dmg you should've had collei use 4p instructors and then a swirler like jean, venti or sucrose to keep triggering nahidas tri karma purification. If you are still set on Thoma being the 1 the dmg scales off of then you would want Thoma to steal the dmg of burning while nahida is the 1 triggering the reaction but it's very tedious & generally Thoma isn't the best pyro unit for this anyway. C6 Bennet is way better for this (lucky I have him at c6). Thoma can work with sucrose but with jean & venti idk. Also never run double pyro.
You’re right, there are ways to optimize the damage, but I was just showcasing burning by itself. It doesn’t seem to be very impressive on its own. Burning has its uses and you can definitely make it stronger.
@@MeiZM the thing Is an anemo unit and double dendro is how you showcase burning by itself. For nahidas skull to proc you need a reaction that's not burning (as you already know) so an anemo unit (in rare cases Zhongli) is mandatory to maintain burning uptime while nahida is off field. Burning by itself without electro, hydro and cyro isn't bad & is very competitive given the right circumstances other than that it's slightly Below the others.
So, theoritically and practically, how much dmg/tick until burning is abyss 12 viable? 10K? 50k? Seeing 100K+ vape/melt is seemingly becoming the standard for 9 star from what I've seen around the web and my own exp. But IMO these non meta yet fun mechanics are being slept on a tad too much, cuz they're genuinely fun to mess around with.
Burning is pretty lackluster for single target damage. I didn't really optimize it though so it can probably hit higher numbers. It's good against multiple targets though.
So with Emilie coming, I'm actually kinda interested now with the idea of a burning team... But with that said, I still have questions... can someone tell me if I could build Emilie with full EM with my pyro applicator barely having any? Who will decide the damage of it? I need to know on whether or not to invest EM on my pyro applicators now if ever I'd need it
Burning scales with the character level, EM and pyro resistance of the enemy. This means you can use the VV set or Zhongli to increase burning dmg by quite an amount. Also burning does aoe-dmg around the burning target, so grouping the enemy will let everyone take multiple instances of burning dmg simultaneously. So a character like Venti, Kazuha or Sucrose is essential for a burning team. However since burning does aoe-dmg and also damages you, a character like Kazuha might quickly die. Therefore I recommend a character like Venti, since we only need the pyro res shred and no pyro dmg bonus and de can group enemies in a certain spot far away from you. And if you are using Nahida for burning, the EM of your pyro character doesn't really matter, so the pyro slot of the team becomes quite flexible. For example you can use Bennett for the pyro and as you said in the video, you can use Ganyu to melt and buff Ganyu with Bennett or just go with Zhongli as the comfort pick and additional pyro resistance shred.
was it really necessary to carry a dead qiqi around lol. Also itd be interesting to see it with a crimosn witch set if you can get a lot of em. otherwise it feels like burning does more damage to the player than the enemies
They should make a new artifact. 2 set: increase pyro 15% 4 set: increase crit damage to enemy affected by burning by 60% Basically Blizzard strayer but crit damage for burned enemy. This will incentives burning team and make some pyro dps units relevant again.
