When I first looked at the finished painting I felt overwhelmed thinking where/how would you start? Then you use your Paul Clark magic and you break it down step by step and it's not so scary. You're a very good teacher, Paul. You never cease to amaze me. 😁🎨
Thanks as always Gina - always look forward to your comments!
Thank you Paul. Your free style painting and touch of humor are a boost to my heart!
Happy to hear that Sandy!
Hi Paul- I had walked some of the way on the Camino de Santiago in Spain, and did a sketch of a village in the distance from one of my photos. But I had no idea how to really paint it, until I saw this Italian Village tutorial. Well, I followed along, applying your step-by-step teaching to my Spanish town, and I'm really happy to have such a pleasing result from this video and from a great teacher like you! This and your other videos are really making such a positive impact on my life. Thank you!
Sounds great Mike - delighted to help!!
I’ve always wanted to do the Camino. So great you went. Even part of it is a great idea. I’m old now. Still, what a great adventure with your paints and a pencil. Thanks for the inspiration.
My 12 yr old grandson and I have just begun to paint together. Since the kids aren't attending class at school, but are doing distance learning at home, we have several afternoons each week that we paint. He's as serious about learning as I am and I do believe he is a better artist. We just recently learned of your videos and think they're wonderful. Love the fresh way you present the material and your style suits both of us. You are a talented artist. We would like to say thank you for sharing and teaching us, all the way from Pendleton, Oregon, Donovan and RoxAnne
Hi Donovan and RoxAnne from Oregon! Delighted to be part of your watercolour journey and many thanks for the nice compliment. - keep in touch, more to come!!!
You are a master watercolour artist, there is no doubt about that. And what a sense of humour, easygoing style and unpretentious method! I thoroughly enjoy your videos. Thanks.
Thank you so much 😀
You said that you read every comment every time! So I say that you are so perfect in your art work and you are the best Art teacher
That’s very generous of you to say Mike - many thanks

You make it all look effortless! I've learned more from your videos than any other artist on RUclips. I used to paint in watercolor and acrylics a lot when I was a teenager, but haven't bothered much since then and now I'm 62. I just might give your techniques a try now. It looks super fun.
Thank you so much 😀
Good morning California! I love Wednesday, why? because its the day Paul posts a new video, and this one looks like it is going to be a goody.
Morning Misty! - a great day to start a painting!!
Hello fellow Californian. It is a good Wednesday. ☺☺☺
@@coloringwithd Hi D, good to meet you :)
@@ArtbyPaulClark of course, it did take me a bit longer :) but it was great and I loved the process. I have learnt to watch through your videos a couple of times, and to prepare all the mixes before starting. thank you so much Paul, I am loving learning from you
This has been one of the most brilliant demos I have watched.
Brings amazing clarity around the entire process. It helps in creating confidence in beginners who are always fearful of making mistakes.
Very useful. Thanks Paul!
Glad it was helpful Anthony!!
Wow Paul - I am not sure how I just discovered your channel, but none the less, I just watched this and so impressed with your teaching style, humor, and overall good guy attitude. Thank you for taking the time to create this for us. So appreciated. You keep things simple, and a painting that looks really complicated. Cannot wait to try it. And to have a go at your other videos. Just made my day. And yes, another Southern California viewer here!
Welcome aboard John from Southern California! - thanks for lovely comment - keep in touch!
So excited to see this! I watched it all the way through, and will watch again in a bit while I paint another Paul Clark masterpiece! Can’t wait to get started! Thank you so much for the tutorials! I’m really enjoying painting with you!

"Where's me wine!!" lmao....that's a meme! Thanks for the great vid and the laugh, Paul! Take care.
Lol!!! - Glad you enjoyed it! ....and you too!
I told you I was only going to use three colors, well, I lied. 🤣
Cheers Kerri!
Thank you for being such a great teacher. I loved the way you walk me through the steps to attempt to paint. Cheers!
Glad it was helpful Nancy!!
I really like this painting, thank you Paul for showing us, love the loose styles.
You are very welcome
I personally like a lot of detail in paintings -- this comes from having a mother and sister who were mad about modern art and I prefer to see what something really is. Abstract art means nothing to me at all. One of the reasons you are such a great instructor is because when you are finished, you have something truly worthy of hanging on a wall. Wish I had your talent!!!
Thanks for sharing! ... very kind, cheers!
I am totally hooked to your tutorial videos. Watching them feels like a fresh breath of air.... So refreshing. It has been a ritual for me to watch at least one of your video every day. Thanks Paul🙏😊 You are an incredible teacher.
Glad you like them!
Thank you Paul, it's a pleasure to watch your paintings, gorgeous scene this one!

Thank you! My day isn’t complete until I watch one of your tutorials I love your welcome! I am learning so much and gaining confidence with my painting! I want to try the Daniel Smith paints very soon. 🇦🇺
You are so welcome Robyn!!!
Your guidance about the quick, sure strokes for the suggestion of windows, regardless of symmetry, is very helpful. Less really is more, and your non-fuss "letting it be" with every painting makes it so much better finished! If I learn one major aspect from you, it'll be this. Thank you ever so much!
Love this one Paul...loose and free...can't wait to try it.
Thanks Mike
Wonderful!!! I do enjoy this. Working in my craft!
So so ...amazing!
Glad you think so!
Paul, you are a treasure and a pleasure. Today, I had a 'do over' with this piece. Not in love with either one I've tried but I figure the third time is a charm. Cheers to learning!!! Thanks for your expertise ❤

I’ve been looking for ideas how to paint some of my local mountain villages. I love your loose style Paul with such lovely colours and tones! I’m going to adapt it and give it a go, against the clock, on a village near me soon and see what happens! Thank you. Paul
This is a great set. It’s what I started with. The best paint available too!

I just turned 79 and never painted with watercolor ( actually never paint as an artist) but I'm going to give it a go thanks to you.need something to keep my mind going.
Can't wait to try this and thank you so much
You are so welcome!
Thanks Paul. All I can say is, I love it!

The way you explain step by step with what colors to mix, a complex looking painting becomes very simple. Hats off to you!
Thank you so much 😀
I loved this tutorial and will definatley give it a go.
Go for it!
Great job Paul - a joy to watch.
Cheers, glad you think so!
Thank you so much Paul. This tutorial teaches so much. Great guidance in how to mix primaries!
You're very welcome!
Alvaro C. once said that there are people who paint with watercolors ...and there are people like himself who paint watercolor paintings. I finally understood the distinction between the two styles. He was saying in effect that to paint watercolor paintings you must use water to your advantage and to use its special properties to distinguish in an instant that its a watercolor painting.
Hi JM I've not heard that quote of his but it's brilliantly put!
You are a very gifted teacher/artist. Bravo!
Thank you Donna! 😊
This was my first Paul Clark watercolor painting and I loved having an hour time cut-off. I'm very new to watercolor and I learned a few things here for sure. One of which is that all watercolor papers are not created equal! I just opened a new pad of paper and it's really terrible-you get what you pay for! I should have known. I will be going to the store and paying the extra $ for something quality like I should have in the beginning. I look forward to my next tutorial! Thank you so much.
You are so welcome!
Thank you Paul! Beautiful work!🤩👍🇮🇹💪
Many thanks!! 🇮🇹
Thank you again sir. You're time given is very much appreciated..
So nice of you
Gorgeous and a great 1 hr exercise! Thanks!
