This 89 year old lady has just started painting and love your instructions. And I love your work, thank you for sharing your talents with me.This picture is way beyond my ability so far, but I enjoy watching you work, and I do pick up information I can use at my beginner level. I am awaiting your book and will devote what time I have left to study as you instruct.
Hello from Australia. Quite a while ago I joined a short 6 week watercolour course with our local adult education college, happily I managed to convince my parents; now 77 & 78 years young, to come along with me. Once completed I suggested we continue to get together one night per week, where one of us makes a soup, and whilst eating said soup we watch some youtube tutorials I’ve chosen. Other family members have been joining us more recently, with an average of a 75km round trip to get here, (small journey in Aus really!) we are now joined on and off by sisters, daughters, sons, cousins and partners of all. The amount of soup we now make some nights would feed a small army… and does. We are now heading into our sixth year of enjoying shared creativity amidst quality family time. Between us we have done hundreds of paintings. I found your tutorials around 4 months ago and you are a huge favourite for all. Your videos are amusing (priority), you describe and demonstrate so well, and all the extra helpful things like paint list and line drawings on your website just add to our wonderful evenings. Paul, a huge Thank You from us all for the time you take, your generosity of spirit in sharing your knowledge and just the sheer ‘personableness’ of you is so appreciated. A very happy and safe 2021 to you and yours.
Hi Katy - what a lovely comment and delighted to be there with you in your art group!. You paint such a lovely picture and I can just see you guys sitting around together with your soup and painting!! It's great to know that art, of any kind can bring people together. Say 'hi' to everyone and look forward to 'seeing' you all in the next episode!
I'm learning more than I realize when watching your tutorials. Sketch, composition, focus, value, color, technique, material, inspiration, detailing suggestions, and more to turn a painting into an art. The jokes such as the wrong year at the end of the tutorial is very refreshing. Thanks Paul, you are definitely among the best.
You’re my current binge! I have been a multimedia artist/photographer for 4+ decades but have learned some new techniques watching your videos. Keep up the good work, the world needs you right now. 🥰🎨Gail, Ashville Alabama 🇺🇸❤️🏴
89 year old Norma's comment below must make you feel very good. What a blessing to be such a blessing. God Bless. (Oh, and of course, the painting was excellent.)
What a beautiful way to start a Wednesday! Such a serene, calming, and GORGEOUS painting. THANKYOU for this. Hope you enjoy a beautiful, and blessed, day!🙂
I have become a daily follower. Can't go a day without painting and we are out of covid, pretty much, in the US. Love your instructions and thank you for sharing so much of your talent.
As a Scotsman myself a bit of bagpipe would have gone down a treat but the soothing Celtic music was a nice alternative :) Thank you so much for the video Paul.
@@ArtbyPaulClark I love the painting too, and the instructions and have tried a few out over the lockdown period(s), if wall to wall bagpipes isn't your thing, try Highland Cathedral, that's quite haunting, but the Celtic music is ok too. Keep up the great work Paul, the odd dram works for me too.
@Paul Clark I love the colours and especially the moody sky. I could listen to bagpipe music for twenty minutes, or for a lot longer. However for a future Scottish theme painting video consider the music of the fiddle player Duncan Chisholm. Or the acclaimed Mairearad Green from her album Passing Places.
I am blown away by this Paul, I am Scottish and will forgive your pronunciation of the word loch! amazing! I am going to try this, just finished Mr Fox and couldn't believe that I painted that! I was was so lost in what I was doing! Amazing feeling! Thank you so much for all you do, you are such an inspiration,
Wow! I Love paintings of boats and (trying) to paint them(Must be cause I live in the Desert) . This one is a stunner! And that background music..... amazing! Never heard anything quite like that. You always amaze me with the final product . You teach many things" Oh Wise One"....Art, music, humor, drink mixology and sometimes just plain Magic! (Never fashion though and that's good🤣) We all appreciate the time and effort you put into these videos and the inspiration they provide . Thank You!
Thank you! Cheers Mate - Glad you like the music too - really chuffed when I found it, by a guy called Jason Rowan. I'll see if I can find more by him for future videos!
Beautiful painting and such an excellent tutorial. Normally I don't care for music in tutorials, but this was a wonderful choice of music. Thank you for sharing your talent.

I'm at home with cancer and a broken leg and have lots of time, in addition to covid.. . I'm enjoying to learn watercolour painting so much from you, Paul. Time passes much faster! This here is Augsburg, Germany, but I travelled in England a lot when I was young and loved it!

Thank you for your generosity and artistic and teaching talent!
What a beautiful lesson to end your day with. You are such a great teacher Paul. Each of your video is so delightful. Love, thanks and gratitude from India. 🙏
Thank you again Paul. Helpful drawing the boats. And practiced both drawing and my riggers prior to painting! I know this is a year old but I love going back and painting every morning with you.

Oh WOW!! What a fantastic painting. I was sitting here in awe following your video😍❤. THANK you so very much for showing us all how you did this incredible work of art. Showing how to draw a boat was some kind of "Aaha"!💡 and "Oh great!" for me 🤩😅. Thanks a lot for this too. And your celtic background was sooo very beautiful. I'm nearly 70 years now and started painting (again after 50 years) about 4 years back. I'm still a beginner for not being able to paint as often as I would like. But your great videos are inspiring and help me very much on my way, They are a gift for me. God bless you dear Paul.💐Greetings from Bavaria - Beatrix🙋♀
Many thanks for this fun and clearly explained painting tutorial! I am Scottish, but now living in California and just painted this as a present for my father-in-law’s 80th birthday.
I watch your videos immediately after they're presented, then usually wait a week or a month to watch as a refresher before I try them myself. I really enjoy watching your lessons and I'm learning so much, trying things that I originally thought were too difficult. Thank you!

My attempts at your paintings are never as lovely as yours but I must say I am always pleased with them and always learn something. Thank you so much.
Just adore your wicked sense of humour. Love watching and trying my hand at your watercolours. It is very hot over here in Western Australia and to stay cool I dabble in the paints with usually a lovely pic at the end of the afternoon. Keep those paintings coming please.
This was so much fun to watch. How you create the boat shape and the reflections was especially enlightening to me. Thank you for sharing your talent and expertise.
Just love this one Paul, as a new resident in Scotland there is so many possibilities and this is just the ticket. Stunning, thanks for tip on drawing boats always been a challenge. Beautiful painting.
I cant wait to try it! I must say that before I started learning from paul. I did around 10 beginner paintings from various artists, and after that i started learning only from paul his teaching skills took me to the next level! So if you feel he is too advanced practice first and then come back to his channel!
I love your work, especially how you build up the layers. I loved the way you put in the boat reflections, it made such a difference to the overall effect. Thank you for sharing your techniques with us all.

I just came back to India from Scotland, and my God! Sir, I must say you're an excellent teacher! This totally reminded me of the good times I had at Loch lomond. You have an excellent sense of humour too! The painting is beautifully done and there were so many things to learn too. Thank you! Cheers from India!
I stumbled across your videos a few days ago and have been binge watching them ever since. I've watched so many other watercolour tutorials over the last month - trying to learn as much as I can.
