Damn that was expensive, had a 400ft well drilled with 120 of 6inch pvc casing for 6k in south carolina, 2020, after 50 ft they hit granite too! I did the the rest, wiring plumbing trenching, pump, pressure tank...maybe another 1500 bucks total for 400 feet 7500 bucks...shit for what you paid you would have been better off to buy an older cable tool rig, got pipe and a string of tools and had a truck too for that amount they got you for!!!
They wanted to retire after 6 customers... screw that!
Anytime a contractor pulls into my yard with a beard, inked up with 20k work of tattoos and a new diesel truck, I'm like, no this idiot will want too much and the conversation is pretty much over before they say a word.
Lol just got on marketplace found a 22w cable tool, truck and a string of tools for 13k....lol weld that pipe and pound away! Bet you didnt get 3 quotes did ya?

The steel casing and plastic liner are the big money items at present. 6 inch steel has been at $17 per ft wholesale but yesterday was told it is going back to $13. PVC has been very high priced the last few months too but also heard it was backing off as the steel. I think high interest rate has put a damper on demand. Watching the video I could not get a very good count on the joints of steel casing but did see at least 24 of the plastic liner. That is where a chunk of the money went. And they installed a 1.5 hp pump so those things all jumped 33% last year. I heard the drilling portion of the company you hired has now sold to another company out of Summersville, MO. Just heard that yesterday from wholesale supplier.

Than it was another charge for a pump setup and get it ready for the house, electrical work, panel on base meter for pump, 2 frost free hydrants, so that was another $16,900 tax included, I didn’t know it was going to cost me that much, but they did a good job

I'm 78 and started water well drilling in 1972..my partner started the company in 1922.
I learned a lot from his experience and mine .
Ridge lines and hill tops are where you find the rock fractures needed to collect water. I learned on cable tools and ended up with rotaries.

Then give it a few million years and erosion filled in the caldera to nearly flat and level,,, 1,000 vertical feet of erosion infill,, 500 to 800 feet down is water,, a bit salty, I never drink it,all bottled water in the kitchen.
