I guess there's a compromise to make sometimes - you have the warmest floors possible, but create a perfect place for mice to live. Any time you create a pocket that rodents can get into, you eventually have a rodent problem. This is why I'm considering the bubble foil insulation for my cabin floor. It's not the warmest solution, but rodents have nowhere to go because there's no pocket between the insulation and the sub floor. Wear slippers.

No reason drilling a well should cost this much

I just had my well drilled 2 weeks ago here in NC. 245' 30 gpm. It only cost me $7200 for drilling, 84 feet of pvc casing and grout.

The place is looking good! With regard to those sunflowers, you might want to move them to a sunny location and stake them with bamboo rods. You could put shade-loving plants in their spot. Plants like impatiens, begonias, coleus are annual flowers that love the shade. You could also put some shade-loving perennials like hosta, liriope, ferns, etc. Good luck.

Great video, I should be starting the build on my desert cabin in the next few weeks and I'm pumped, still, after starting my project a few years back. I've had some setbacks with design, but I'm back on track and committed to this final design. My last progress was the competion of the deck, a home made irrigation system, and started planting Mesquite trees. Im now ready to start framing...Wish me luck! (Framing in this Summer Heat will not be fun.)

Congrats on finishing the cabin! It looks great! One suggestion would be to maybe have a small bench near the front door so that people will have a place to drop their things and above that several hooks for coats and bags.
