- On October 6, 2022, Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie received the W.E.B Du Bois Medal, conferred by The Hutchins Center Honors at Harvard University.
I would never forget one of my biggest regrets. I once met Chimamanda at an airport in Enugu. Our flight to Lagos had been delayed and we were in the lobby. I literally could not believe my eyes seeing her. I froze. I was numb. I could not say a word and I keep regretting being star struck. Maybe it was good I didn't get to say anything to her. That awe still remains. Elegance is a lady!
I was watching this at work and didn't know when I started clapping, my colleagues were wondering what was going on. I'm so proud of this woman, she's such an inspiration.
Chimamanda you are everything good put together. A huge congratulations to you dear sister!
Listening to Chimamanda and her speech at the ceremony, I must say it's an inspiration to me. Here Chimamanda repeat her leaving medical school over and over to study literature and write in the US gives me so much comfort as a young literary artist. Keep setting the pace, your children and younger Nigerian and African siblings following the same path are coming behind diligently. I hope to see you one day when I'm successful as a writer.
CONGRATULATIONS AGAIN & AGAIN @Chimamanda

@@lapensialumennollytv thanks my dear. I just LOVE listening to you. I am a Catholic Rev. Sister. I pray for you and love your values and principles as an authentic African Lady.
Isn't this name (du Bois) French? Hence, should be pronounced "Du Boire"? Just an aside. Anyway, thanks for these lovely speeches from Chimamanda.
