I’ve been there. Fabulous spot. Used the HDR video myself on the weekend for really tricky shots on a dive boat with everyone in shadow, and then the water and beautiful sand island in full midday sun. Worked an absolute treat!
I love using 4K 8:7 HDR. I noticed that the file size turned out to be a lot smaller when compared with shooting in standard 4K 8:7. It saves a lot of SD card space!
yes! apparently with the HERO12 Black, GoPro has optimized it's encoding so the camera is able to deliver the same level of image quality while also reducing file size. amazing tech!

with HDR toggled on you will not be able to set the protune settings. the camera is capturing various exposures simultaneously & will be working it's magic for you

What EV comp did you use on both cameras? I noticed the HDR footage looks overall slightly darker with less popping colors.
