- I decided to play through the Fatal Fury arcade mode and I had NO idea some of these character existed! Not only that, but the AI in the arcade mode was giving me the hands and I swear, they were just cheating... Let me know what you guys think of my arcade mode run!

Finishing with a nut punch on Geese while he taunts you is canon! Always fun seeing the SNK boss struggle. Some of the cheapest enemy AI ever made.
SNK Boss Syndrome ain't no joke
🤣🤣🤣
I think it's cool that the AI still holds up so well to this day 🙂 This has nothing to do with finding solace in watching others suffer as I have suffered 🙂 Absolutely nothing 🙂
@@Ash__Adler trying to tell your friends/siblings/parents that "the game is cheating" end getting mocked - we were right all along. I want reparations.
And in this game compared to it's SNES counter part has different bonus stages. They use to use an arm wrestling machine in Japan.
This game isn't about knowing all the moves, it's about getting one with the most priority and spamming it.
Andy, with his charging elbow can flush out an opponents health via charge partitioning.
Andy's OP.
Oh, you did that, too? For reals!! That was the only way I could finish this game! LOL 😆
Akeekkeek!
I remember playing this in the arcades. Those early SNK arcade games were MADE to eat your quarters!
But not me I was learning fast and not long later I got all these games on my pc so no more quarter eating lol
I swear Justin said, "I got the pattern," and that Geese AI evolved. It started baiting him and then hit him with the anti-air lol
The hitboxes in FF 1 are absolutely ridiculous and hilarious at the same time. Justin's reactions just multiply the lol.
Wong: "Why is Terry so young?"
Me: 1: it's the 1st game in the Fatal Fury series 2: he's 22 in this 1...
Billy's unfortunate tier-list position in KoF XV is a payback for neutral cross-up in this game xD
Unfortunate? All the bs he’s gotten away with in every other game?! 😂😂
@@MaztRPwn I guess, karma caught up to him 😂
Justin really thought he could get away with acting all purictable
I never seen predictable spelled that way before lmao
7:15 Billy: "Oh no, I can't fight without my stick!!!" 🥺
Geese Henchman: "I got you, fam..." 😎 *Throws him a spare Bo Staff*
Billy: "Back To Action!!!" 😈
Same dude who tosses Hwa Jai his liquor. I suspect Geese is not playing fair in this tournament. 😱😉
(Low key, though... I really love the story of Fatal Fury. It's legit fun. 😅)
@@WooMaster777 Same here LOL 😂
The inspiration of Billy's KOF 02 Hsdm
This is how I imagine Justin talking after his fateful match with Daigo, "What? He can just parry my whole super? That's OD"
And damn getting stunned by Geese like that when you just needed one confirm, man my soul came out of me just watching you.
FF1, 2 and Special are OBSURDLY difficult games, it also doesn't help that they control weird and are a bit clunky, it's from Fatal Fury 3 that the series starts to get really good, which is why I can't wait to see Justin play it, it's super underrated imo.
Fatal Fury Special is awesome (closest thing FF has to ST imo) and came out before FF3. I've heard some people REALLY like FF3, I should check it out.
The Real Bout series is where the games are actually "beatable", in a sense, but yeah SNK games pre-96 are hard as balls.
@@Wolfedge75 FF3 is significantly easier than 1-Special, still difficult as hell though.
@@airthrowDBT FF3 has a good arcade mode. High standards even for SNK, that made their games arcade mode much better than Capcom around that time. But i hear it wasn't as well received as expected on arcades, which motivated the early making of a sequel, Real Bout Fatal Fury 1, released in the same year (95), and that one was more popular. RB1 has some interesting new ideas and bold innovations typical of early SNK mindset. And it finally got a super meter, that FF was taking too long to adopt. (For reference all Capcom games already had super meters in 94 and by 95 they were already evolving meters)
@@carlosaugusto9821 Interesting I didn't really put it into context before that SNK was behind on Super meters. But SNK really did innovate a lot of stuff at the time, like even the concept of crossover characters was SNK first I think. SNK games really had a lot of great easter eggs and "extras" back in the MVS days compared to Capcom games that tended to have a little more depth of gameplay but were a bit more bare bones in presentation IMO. I started as an SNK diehard but now I pretty much just play ST.
Tung fu rue appeared in kof11 as a secret playable character in ps2 version.
Copypasted from Neo-Geo Battle Coliseum.
@@Korgoth9 Justin Wong was saying if this character was on any kof games... Obviously, this character was in ngbc with the same sprite.
The countless hours of trying to beat Geese in the first Fatal Fury alone has left me *very* afraid of the King of Southtown himself.
This game also has a 2v1 mode, whenever a 2nd player join, both players would fight the CPU and if they win, they would go on a normal 1v1 match and the winner goes to the next cpu fight. This can make the game easier since the A.I. struggles sometimes to fight 2 players at the same time. However, Geese is the only one that has to be fought in 1v1.
And also...
Wubba , wubba. I´m in the pink today, boy.
Before SFA's Dramatic Battle. A shame that SNK never returned to the idea while Capcom ironically took it and made it popular in SFA.
Gotta love that Y2K bugged ending, that says Geese died in 1922. It's even funnier when you beat him back in the early 00s.
That explains a lot!
It’s like SF1 but moves actually come out when you execute them
The FF1 devs were the actual SF1 makers, so in their debut SNK years it seems they were just trying to evolve their SF1 model
It was good to see Justin struggle at the same people that I did when I was 6.
This was the game i grew up with playing on the megadrive
That hit box for Michael Max, fist goes past his head and still not a hit.
oh man, the snk fighters were always so confusing as a kid. when street fighter was too busy, it was either fatal fury, world heroes, or metal slug. i dont even remember being any good at this game but somehow i remember everything from tung fu’s transformation to that dude drinking hot sauce(i guess its booze?). i know i never, ever beat the game though. this was fun to watch!
I love these trips down memory lane! Watching this game now after years of fighting game evolution is crazy. 😆🥰❤
Actually aside from michael max, Raiden & duck king, all of the enemies in FF1 cheats one way or the other
Richard can do the ceiling tatsu, Tung has Roid form, Hwa Jai got the Red Bull powerup, and Billy with the infinite sticks
I had the most trouble fighting Tung & Raiden. I *still* have PTSD whenever I see Tung roid up in later games!
@@Wolfedge75 Raiden can be baited to do the spit attack by just doing a standing punch far away, & then we punish it during the recovery animation.
The game is designed with a gimmick battle model, more like the enemies are bosses in a 1p beat em up game, not like it was a fair 2p versus game in the model of SF2. In FF1 versus mode you can't use those enemies anyways.
It's interesting because fgs were so new at the time, and those devs came right from SF1... so apparently their idea of making FF stand out not being a SF copy was making the arcade mode feel like an intermediate form between a beat em up challenge and a proper versus fg challenge. To take the similarity further there's even the fact FF1 has a 2p coop mode, 2v1, like a normal beat em up. That's also interesting for showing that the devs were honestly testing their creativity and wondering what to do in their games, not straight copying SF2 like many early fgs.
Only after FF1 and AOF1 (where you can only use the 2 heroes in arcade mode) the devs fg mindset grow beyond those early ideas and then the games become closer to the more conventional idea of fg.
@justinwong now u can feel the struggle us older gamers had to deal with in this game. So many quarters lost to this classic game. 😆 🤣 😂 😹
Well, I don't know how old Lance here is, but FF1 came out in 1991. Justin was only 6 years old. Fighting games sure have evolved A LOT since then. From a development standpoint FF1 is like Street Fighter 1.5 as it was designed by Takashi Nishiyama, the OG Street Fighter designer himself. 🙂
I was in my first year of H.S. in 91, so yea I'm a dinosaur @David Woo @Super Mario 😆 🤣 😂
@Lance Gwathney I see you, fam. I recognize a battle-hardened OG fighter. Our love of the game and fandom allowed for continued development in this series. With every iteration came new mechanics, better animation, and balancing. And all because we spent our time and money to make fighting games the beloved pastime that it is today. It's a trip visiting the past, but it's been a journey, and awesome to see where it'll go in the future. 😉😇
@@WooMaster777 straight facts.
Billy Kanes neutral is completely honest and fair
BS
It's nice that Master Roshi made that cameo at 2:38 by transforming into Swoll McBig Sauce.
When you look at FF through the lens of (If true) that SNK (ex Capcom employees) made this to be a sequel to OG Street Fighter and Final Fight really makes things interesting...
The original street fighter's baby brother. I love fatal fury.
Billy just crossing you up with that kick because he kinda just teleports behind you is so wack and jank but funny at the same time
Man this title brings back some good memories. Keep up the good work Justin.
How I learned to fight Billy Kane was whenever he was getting his cane tossed back to him if you time it right you can burn knuckle him as he is falling back to the ground and he'll get hit and drop his cane again then just rinse and repeat.
Seeing Justin surprised about characters like Hwa Jai from this first installment really makes me smile haha.
My earliest memory of SNK was Tung Fu Ru turning into a big buff dude. I prefer it this way over the way they make him now where he doesn't change into a buff dude.
To be totally fair that was an interesting and practical idea for a non playable enemy, that's basically a boss gimmick in a 1p mode. But since FF2 (1992, a year after the first SF2 release) he became playable and that thing looks a pain to balance for that time, if we think seriously about it.
After some years fg companies invented the "install super" idea, and maybe that could have been used on him. But it was too late already, it became a staple to just buff him up for a moment in a few moves.
Hope you play through the whole series, this is fun AF
6:21 *Hwa Jai's Enabler* 😎
Holy Cow Justin playing the first fatal fury game?
fireballs here doing damage like they'd actually do to you in real life
"OK. My bad. Blanka Ball too good" cracked my shiz up.
"Billy Kane cheats in Fatal Fury"
Which Fatal Fury? But also, yes 🤣
I thought my man grow up playing fighting games , this is funny watching him play this og game . Good content
A very wise man once said, "Wubba, wubba. I'm in the pink today, boy!"
Geese taunted and punched in the balls lol
"Come on, hit me" - Geese
"Damn, he actually hit me..." - Geese
If you played the original Street Fighter, then Fatal Fury actually feels more like Street Fighter II than Street Fighter II does.
Considering most of the staff that worked on SF1 moved to SNK and promptly made Fatal Fury, that's not much of a surprise.
@@budgetcoinhunter Fatal Fury and Art of Fighting. Both games are like spiritual successors of the SF1 game design, more advanced mechanically and with actual interesting innovations in many aspects (even if pretty rough to play). They aren't meant to be SF2 clones like Fighter's History (that one that got sued) and others from the early 90s.
yeah back in the day when I rented Fatal Fury for Genesis, I was always about that SF2 3 hit combo (jump attack, standing/crouching attack, special) and was kinda disappointed and the old dpad on the 3 button Genesis controller wasn't helping. But Geese Howard theme went the hardest.
this was fun to watch snk really makes good solo arcade mode youtube videos
Early SNK games even have better arcade modes than late 90s ones. Except MOTW, that is remarkably well done. They are nicely presented for their time and have more stuff going like bonuses and such. FF1 even has a very innovative 2p coop, many years before SFA1's Dramatic Battle.
Tung Fu Ru went Master Roshi on you!!!!
8:20 Gesse: *"TOO PREDICTABO!!!"* 😈
I played this on my SNES back in 1998. I still own the game and SNES^^ and many other games I accumulated during the time
As a Fatal Fury 1 die hard, I have always enjoyed the sheer rension and chaos of the geese fight.
I've double perfected his ass like 5 times but Billy is by far more annoying.
Geese Dies in Real Bout 1. Geese has scars in other games because of the fall in FF1 or in the KOF universe it kind of mirrors Fatal Fury some ways except Geese never died at all. The first FF is actually a King of the Fighters Tournament but not part of the KOF universe, it is actually part of the Art of Fighting Universe/ Fatal Fury Universe.
hope to see you play real bout fatal fury 1 it's awesome to see you play every fighting game from back then
Just a little bit of SNK boss experience 🤣
I’m so shocked Star Wars hasn’t tried getting another fighting game made what should they do if next time they make one and which studio should they get to make the game?
Fatal Fury was the hardest version of the game loved Fatal Fury Special 😀😊
well, thats old-snk for ya, and this game has funny stuff like you can 2 vs 1 the cpu if player 2 join in the middle of match
Until you get to Geese, that is.
9:50 Your editor has the BEST FRAME TASTE for these!! XD
Homeboy say
Oh....great game design had me dead
I love your content bro but I can never finish a video. I get too hyped up and have to go jump on the sticks.
0:48 when Justin thought Hwa Jai was a new character ! In my case the first time I saw him was in Fatal Fury 1 of course but second time wasn’t in KOF13 but in Real about Fatal Fury 2 in Joe s stage you can see Hwa standing in the corner of the ring and of course the last time was in KOFXIII ! Oh yeah
Man needs to watch the anime, it covers a lot
Geese only dies on Real Bout 1 (FF4)
Canonical, returns on FF3 with the scrolls, Destroy It and nobody has his imortality anymore.
To help you:
The timeline for Fatal Fury isn't the same as King of Fighters.
KOF is a spin-off of Fatal Fury series, where Geese didn't try to get the other half of the scroll of immortality (which is what caused his 2nd fight with Terry and his actual death). Instead in the KOF series, the whole event of the immortality scroll is pushed aside because Geese was helping with the revival of Orochi.
Quick lore curio: officially Terry, Andy and Joe fought Geese together at once. Andy was knocked unconscious, Joe's arms where broken and Terry was nearly beaten to death, before the fabled jump kick to man-slaughter-2 combo. The 2nd time Terry fought him alone. And yes the cause of defeat both times is when Geese started talking trash and let his guard down; thinking he won.
We can make a compilation of geese destroys Jwong now
Game is bad... But is so bad it's good. So much fun memories playing this when the sunset hits the beach.
This is old school JANK great NEO GEO game
When is Triple KO gonna gave a Fatal Fury 1 speed contest? First host of Triple KO to beat Fatal Fury 1 hardest difficulty wins!
(Id be down to see that lol)
Why is Terry young because this game came out first.
Also, the first Fatal Fury is a huge pain in the butt.
Even in this game it has screen transitions, that's missing in kof xv.
It's a shame that new games from different companies lack some features of early 90s games
Lol that boi terry says "Oooooooaaaaauuggghhhhhhhh" 🤣🤣
I never played either, and after this video I probably never will 😂
1:38 what you didn’t know is that you learn new moves as you progress in the game like AOF1 same concept
NEVER underestimate 90s games
10:30 wwoooooooooah. THUMP
10:37 1922 in another dimensional reality.
Apparently he's only dead in fatal fury but not in KOF.. he also likely won the parallel world tournament in svc chaos so he could have his wish granted and was brought back to life..
every time I see the bobby clip I gotta play the whole thing LMFAO he really dislikes boxx pikachu
Now we need a Fatal Fury 2 video!
He fell off a 60 story building and he made it to the hospital. 😅
The days remembering that the C button was pointless in this game 🤣
10:30 That's for Jeff Bogard!!!! 😠
That Hbomberguy clip had me dying
Billy Kane is the easiest character to fight in the game. Just wait till he throws his stick, then when he grabs a new one just throw him. The stick will break everytime. Just keep repeating this and he's no problem to beat
Almost spat out my drink I was completely unprepared for Bobby to randomly show up
Damn i dont think i ever played this one. The og fatal fury i remember playing had an actual character select screen. Maybe it was Fatal Fury Special?
This game is legit terrible. I remember how inconsistent the control inputs were. Still, so many forgotten characters that do deserve refreshes were introduced here. KoF 13 did Hwa Jai's return so dirty.
"We'll be right back!"
Geese survived because he was carrying the magical scrolls(it's covered in fatal fury 3)
First Time you Play Fatal Fury 1 is very Hard.
But with Time it's get better, because you Learn to Deal with the Game Mechaniker from the Opponents!
that billy fight, I hate him🤣
You should play more KOF games, I think you will like them 🤗
You wanna talk broken, Pick Andy and spam the elbow dash (Zan-ei Ken) and get back to me lol 2:18
I'll be exited you to play the KoF XV and try the full HP combo
6:56 frame perfect stoppage lol
I remember back in the day 1st saw this I thought the graphics looked so cool I loved playing as Joe Higashi but the two lane fighting mechanics are hard for me 🤬
Cant believe u haven't played ff before!! I grew up with ff & streetfighter on arcades in the early 90's.... would love to see u play more ff games please... oh also, u played final fight a lil' while ago but have u played snk's version?? Burning fight!!
He already played FFS, RBS, RB2 and MOTW in the channel. Actually at this point there's little worth to cover on FF. To me only FF3 and RB1 left, because of their innovations.
Do you like the standard graphics? I always use filters. Looks awesome on a 4K monitor.
dang bro completly skipped the Raiden fight for some reason, and other bonus rounds lol. I wanted to see how good Justin's tapping was
1:13 C is simply a grab button like AOF1,2,3 and about Terry of course he gotta look young cause that was a young Terry who was about 18 or something or 20 maybe seeking revenge from Geese who killed his adoptive father Jeff Bogard for the scroll of life ! And do we see geese in KOF96 and he s so much alive because he already got the scroll 📜!
"Cmon bro, are you Sirius?"
"No, and don't call me Shirley"
You can 2p co-op to Geese in this.
Justin you cant have it both ways. The final bosses of fighting games are structured like that for a reason. To make you understand why they are boss characters and for that WoW factor.
Otherwise they would just be playable characters and played in tournaments. But there wouldnt be good final bosses.
I'll make it more clear with fighting games YOU have played. Take for example Gill. Gill is the boss in SF:3rd Strike and is credited as in the top 10 of the most difficult bosses of all time. Gill makes an appearance in SF5 and he is playable in tournaments. He has lost many of his moveset & this has also been factored into his story. His God-form is called now Omega Gill (so its a clear downgrade from normal 'Gill') and is that how you fight him in arcade. His weaknesses have also been featured into the comics, again a clear hint that Sf5 Gill has lost significant power vs SF3:3rd impact gill.
This game was so hard...until I realized that all you needed to do was knock down the CPU and then meaty Slash Kick (Joe), Burn Knuckle (Terry), or Zaneiken (Andy) to beat anyone. (Michael Max can be beaten with jump kick, low kick, repeat.)
Also, it's pronounced Hwa (JAH-ee), per the announcer.
Also......why didn't we see Justin fight Raiden (a.k.a. Big Bear)?
