The IWHBYD skull *never* spawns for me, I've done everything over 20 times and it has never spawned ever. I get all checkpoints and everything

@@xSiberianKhatru this way of getting it is 343 though, like silver says in this video the old bungie way you got IWBYD was by doing a 7 round gauntlet vs elites
For the people having trouble with the IWHBYD skull: I tried this level probably 20 times and could never get this skull to appear. Just play through the level normally, killing all the enemies with the scarab skull activated. Obviously make sure it's set to legendary, be wary of jackal snipers and several camo sword elites hiding in some alleyways. I finally got it this way, just hang out near the skull spawn and killing all the enemies that spawn around you until you're clear, then jump down to the small patio and wait for the final checkpoint. Best of luck, that was frustrating.

@@tonysmida6275 No, I just played through it normally to make sure I hit all the load zones/checkpoints. With the scarab skull on it's not too bad if you take your time.
I had to have tied the way in the video at least 20 times waiting for the "1 out of 7" but it never spawned. I tried it this way and went the normal route and cleared everything thing out and then jumped up on the patio, waited for the checkpoint, and sure enough, it spawned. First try.
This is what worked for me. He even says in the video about having to fend off multiple waves of elites, which is what you do outside of the IWHBYD skull room. Small courtyard outside with wave after wave of 1 elite and 3 grunts
I tried the video way about 5 times without any luck. I tried killing everything up to that point, no luck. Finally got the skull when I was messing around with flying and hitting checkpoints in a different order.
The IWHBYD skull spawns (or not) when the so-called "sniper alley" activates, that alley where the 3 marines are waiting after the sergeant leaves with the ship. The spawn of the skull is dictated by a RNG (Random Number Generator) algorithm, some say it's 1 in 7 but I'm not sure, I've tested it and sometime the skull spawns 3-4 times in a row, other times it doesn't spawn 4-5 times in a row. Maybe some day I will repeat it 100 times and give you the percentages. Or the programmer from Bungie could just tell us :)
It would be very strange if Bungie told us now, since they no longer own Halo
100 would be a pretty small sample size though, can't make any accurate claims based on that, unfortunately.
I got the IWHBYD skull to work first try. I used the boom skull and did a grenade jump to skip half the map. I landed by the pelican drop off. I melee'd the whole time to prevent a checkpoint. Once I got to the first ledge i stopped melee'ing and scoped in to allow the jackal spawn. Then I dropped down by the church on the second ledge ( continuing to melee the whole time) then i grenade jumped up top into the skull spawn. Stood in the door way and stopped melee'ing. Checkpoint popped and I watched the skull spawn in front of me. Make sure to use the Boom skull for the grenade jumps.
14:03 For this skull, no matter what, I couldn't lift the nose of the Spectre to climb that structure, but turned out you can just wall-walk it.
Thanks!! I tried so long getting the spectre over there but it's slow kept getting killed by banshees
You can also use the banshee and fly directly to the left side of the big structure their will be an invisible wall that stops you but all you do is get out of the banshee and walk up the big ramp
for the 2nd outskirts skull, you need to trigger 7 checkpoints and make sure you kill the jackals, grunts, and elites nearby to make sure the skull spawns. it is the most consistent method.
It is not, did the 3 cp where you just kill 3 jackal snipers and got it multiple times
So I have read quite a few of these comments and tried a lot of the ways suggested, including the way in the vid.
In the end, this is how I got it.
First off, if you get to the skull location, and switch back to the old graphics (not necessary for anything, but this will go towards making my point), then you will see a skull poster and next to it is a 1 then below that is a 7. I believe this refers to the 1 in 7 chance of the skull spawning which many people mention online.
I believe there is not special way to go, no amounts of special checkpoints, it is simply a 1 in 7 chance that the skull will spawn.
This is backed up in my mind, that I got really bored with doing the same thing over and over, eventually, I just put on the acrophobia skull and just flew there. After a unknown amount of restarts, it was there. I didn’t go a special way, I just kept flying there and restarting. Eventually, it appeared for me.
Edit, I wanna be clear, this isn’t a criticism of the video, I actually found it very helpful for all the others. In fact, a Silver guide has never let me down, he is my go to for Halo guides.
Also try and take into account, this vid is 7 years old, so things do change, for instance, I could use acrophobia, Silver couldn’t at the time of making this vid.

@Maria Flores again, it isn’t really the video makers fault, he did it the way he knew at the time of recording, which was 7 years ago. There are a lot of people who also think this way and for a lot of people this way actually worked for them, it isn’t a bad way of doing as technically it works, some people got it doing it this method.
My original comment was simply for todays players trying for that skull, today, you don’t need to do the jumps or follow the checkpoints. Just put acrophobia on and fly there, persevere and eventually it will show up. May you be luckier than me in when it shows up lol.
(And I’m speaking the collect ‘you’ in the second part of my comment, as in for anyone reading this)
DID IT! RIGHT! Follow silvers guide exactly. Between the checkpoints MELEE the entire time so you don't get other checkpoints. It worked first time using this method. Meleeing prevents checkpoints.
IWHBYD is not as hard as you think, basically for the last checkpoint just hang around the area and try to get the checkpoint to happen instead of sitting in only that corner (although that is a good spot)
So on the grunt birthday party skull I celebrated for a second then started beating everyone with the skull
For assassins skull on regret: don't do any despawns or skips. The skull will still be there (but no elites) and you won't get the achievement when you pick it up.

I flew straight there with the Acrophobia skull and was wondering why I didn’t get it because Acrophobia hadn’t prevented me from getting other H2 skull achievements
For iwhbyd just use the skull that lets you fly and head straight there. Land right by the entrance to the room. Wait 1 or 2 seconds and time the first and only checkpoint you get with you entering the room. It seems to trigger more often that way. You don't need to do any other nonsense. Doing this, it has a 1/7 chance of spawning. Shouldn't take long at all.

I’m reading a lot of comments saying the IWHBYD skull doesn’t spawn often. I did this on the first try, following exactly as the video details, and it spawned. Maybe the game got updated as all those comments were made years ago.

Update for those who are having trouble getting this achievement playing on series, with the skull found in outskirts I tried several times and the skull never showed up, I erase the game and Installed it on my Xbox one S and after taking the skulls 2 times the Achievement popped out (u don't need to take all the checkpoints) just fly where the skull is and after a few restarts it will spawn, if u don't have an Xbox one try to erase the game and download it again cuz I realize most of the achievements in series are broken and even if u do the achievements won't popped up, that happen to me in all games, halo ce, 2, 3, odst, reach and 4

9 years later I can confirm this method still works for IWHBYD, but it took several tries for the 4th checkpoint to trigger. Had to revert to last checkpoint a few times.
I spent so long getting that one skull on metropolis only to realise that it wasn't there (I was playing on heroic) and while doing it the game saved while i was climbing the arch and then i come back down and the dude on the gauss gun was dead

Some people get it first try, some get it multiple times in a row, but to me it feels like it has the same chances to spawn as finding a shiny pokemon randomly in the wild.

To get IWHBYD I had to follow the guide very carefully, it seems first time I accidentally activated extra checkpoints that voided the skull for whatever reason. Working on PC :D

Second skull on outskirts just wasn't working for me. Tried about 20 times. At around the 10th it appeared, but then I died instantly after picking it up. After quitting the level and looking up another guide, the achievement popped while in the menu!

I'm today years old when I found out that Halo 2 had skulls in it.
Had issues for the longest time in the 2nd outskirts one very weird. But something I noticed was that the skull takes a few seconds to spawn and also that for some reason for me it only appeared in old graphics!?
This may sound like a dumb question but why can't you use a banshee to get the last skull? There seems to be enough room on that platform the skull sits on for a landing.
There's an invisible barrier that doesn't allow banshees through. Spectres, however...
Any one having trouble doing the Black Eye (Great Journey), you can fly the banshee over the lake and then get to the skull from there on foot. Takes longer, but not too bad.

I restarted the level five times to get the IWHBYD skull. Tedious, yes. Impossible, no.

IWHBYD skull on outskirts, you can have arachnophobia on, only requirement is to spawn in the sniper jackals in the ally after johnson ship leaves, u dont have to kill any enemies. Took me maybe 30 tries, just terrible rng
I did it with IWHBYD. I just walked without haste according to the instructions from the video
there are no invisible elites with swords for me on regret. and yes, i have it on legendary
Edit: you can't Speedrun it, you have to play the normal way

Update: got it. It was Vehicle Function 2 which was bound to Left Ctrl for me.

i stayed until he said "would it help if i said please?" and the skull wasn't there. do i have to wait 3 minutes or more?

That 2nd skull on outskirts is broken, cant get it, tried like 10 different methods for many many hours. Ready to go down to Microsoft and make them fix it.

Get this I did everything he did and got the last checkpoint crouching at the corner and it still didn't spawn
It works, it's "a little bit" tricky, just try to walk on the rooftop zone untill the CP comes out, for me it took a lot of time
Even when I get the checkpoints, the skull wont show up. I have done it every way seen on the internet. I think a pleasant office visit is in order.

I got the final checkpoint for the IWHBYD skull after waiting in that corner but it didn't spawn

Okay I just got it, in the very beginng i switched to the old graphics went through the roof found a plasma pistol picked it up did the 7 checkpoints and then by the all might RNG jesus i finally got the skull

Does anyone know if this has glitched?
You need the 6 check points in total, youll get the sixth right outside of the room its in, also make sure you go inside the room enough cuz i couldnt see it until i was right infront of it.
Wait to get new skulls on halo 2 you have to find them and they will be added to your skull collection?
For achievement hunting can’t use skulls (non scoring)
Edit: 3:30 for skull #4 I think that’s more of a bug. 8 total checkpoints no spawn, killed few enemies.
You can use any skulls for achievements, except for par times/scores, general completion like beat this level or beat this game in x difficulty, and the under 3 hr speedrun achievements.
Halo Completionist at 4:36 they kept that small bonus in 🙂
@@HaloCompletionist par scores can be done with skulls on. Pretty sure par times may as well since I've done so on some laso playlists

I agree. I cant get it to spawn no matter what I do. I've tried multiple videos with slightly varying routes, but none of them work for me.
The only hard part of this guide is not constantly killing yourself with the Scarab skull 🤣

@Maria Flores I figured, with Outskirts though I can't get the jacket snipers to stop spawning they always keep appearing when I try to get the skull in Outskirts what's the deal with that

I can't get the assassins skull achievement to pop. I'm playing on legendary with the scarab and envy skulls on but every time I grab the skull no achievement pops. Can anyone help?
That's an issue with MCC on pc restart the default settings of your firewalls on your antivirus (windows defender for default if you haven't installed any other) and then run the game
If you are playing in Xbox try log out your account/profile and log in with another, play a little an then go back to your account

Why do I already have all the skulls?
All skulls (Except Acrophobia, added by 343 for MCC) are accessible from the very beginning. Collecting skulls in game is only necessary for completion
