I know this is a couple years old but I just grabbed this exact same center consol but you can also hunt down a info screen that the explorers had which tells you estimated fuel mileage range and remaining fuel percentage in the fuel tank as well as tire pressure and check engine code warnings. If you have a automatic like I do for towing, this is pretty handy plus I grabbed the dual sunvisors and the upper info consol on the roofliner. So now I have modern day tech in a 98 truck. The info consol on the roof liner gives you a digital compass, outside temp, and you get reading lights for the driver and passenger which rangers and B series trucks only have the dome light in the middle, as well as a garage door opener compartment. Super cool mods.
i know this is a year old, but is there anyway you could send me a link what the info thing your talking about I think I know, but wanna make for certain.
I went to great lengths to make my Ranger “unique” and I eventually came to terms with “as long as I can spot it in a sea of Rangers I’m good.” Then 2006 came...
I did this to my 99 ranger l also installed some leather buckets from a mountaineer they looks great! Same color and the holes in the seat match the holes in the door panel. The only mod I had to do is tuck the air bag off switch in behind the console.
If you want to paint the silver portion of the console to match, SEM makes a spray coating that is elastomeric and heat resistant to match your dash color trim. And even if it doesn’t match the trim you can paint the trim to match your console.
Im fortunate enough to have a stock center console. automatic though. but as a work truck having an auto is nice. Having a center console in these rangers really changes the feel of the truck.
I just pulled a set of white gauges out of a 2001 Explorer with a 5 speed manual. It looked like it had a full length console at one point but by the time I had got to it, it had been pieced out. It was pretty cool see.
as someone with a 5 speed, the stick is surprisingly not in the way going into 4th gear. people are always irrational with that seat but its not really an issue.
riding 3 in the front with a 5 speed is uncomfortable to say the least. I got a 2010 ranger and I've tried it a few times, you get pretty creative after a while though
hi,nice job on your center console.I did the same 0n my 2005 mazda b2300 nice job,all I had to do was to paint it with plastic, paint & priner, speciai paint and priner, mine was tan like your, had to paint it gray ha. turn out nice ,thank again.
For an automatic transmission, that large hole where you put your shift stick, could possibly fit both a CB radio, ad a mobile ham radio as well. How expensive was this whole install, seats and the console itself?
Is there anywhere that sells these oem? I have a problem where the pieces of plastic that hold the storage unit in place have snapped off so I think I'll have to replace the whole console. Any links are appreciated.
You can buy proper paint and color for both plastic and vinel from you ford shop or parts centre, keep in mind to was and grease removal prior to recolering
Nice fit. Good to see the shifter fits well too. I have a 1999 Mountaineer I picked up as a 5.0 donor vehicle, both have tan interiors, too. I'm gonna use the tach/speedo gauge cluster and center console. I'll probably run the tan leather seats, too, though they're a bit beat up. My (oil pump seized)2.5 5 speed is gonna become a 5.0 5 speed this summer. You from around Baltimore or Philly? You've got a good "Murrlin" accent, lol
Is the CD6 Radio you have installed in this video a factory option? I have a '97 Ranger and I always wondered if I could install a Ford Factory 6CD changer in my truck.
What year and model( sport, 4x4, etc) was the explorer you got the console from, I've been trying to find one but, having a little difficulty, finding that version. If anyone has a link to a black or grey one I'd be much appreciative.
Kalyb Mittenz Miller on a comment he says it’s from a second gen explore so that’s from 1995-2003 so if you want a nice one like his, I’d say 2000-2003 would be the be the way to go.
I pulled the console out of my 00 explorer for my 95 ranger...soooooooo it works. Wanna make the e brake a hand brake and somehow mount it in The tissue home
@motoforlyfe Did you have to snag the baseplate/rear air system as a mounting bracket or did you have some other way of mounting to the floor? Do you have a video of mounting the console?
It is bolted to the dash in the front, but isn't bolted directly to the floor at all. You could hook it to the seats somehow to keep it secure. Hope this helps
Do the seats for 2001 Ford Explorers match the fitment of the Ranger? Rather than modify my 60/40 seats, I wanted to see about replacing them entirely.
I think he meant by changing seats to a bucket seats. Usually rangers come with long seats and as he was mentioning, some cars have same attachment dimensions.
Hi,I'm writing from newfoundland Canada ha, very nice idea about your center console in your ranger wow.Could U tell me where U got the boot that goes over the gear shift, thank so much, hope to hear from you Howard Benoit.
I am putting in the same style of console out of a 1999 Ford Explorer. Does the ash tray, and cigarette lighter just stay in behind where the front of the console is, or how does that work??
hey sorry im a bit late, I just pulled out seats and console out of a 2nd gen explorer to put in my standard cab. what did you do to attach the console down, did you reuse that big metal tab bracket, what did you do about your passenger airbag panel down by the radio, any tips or advice would be much appreciated
The airbag turn off thing in the dash you can pull off and can tuck the actual box up inside or it looks like you might be able to put it down where the explorer cigarette lighter is, but I don't know. I used the metal tab for support but I couldn't bolt it down. In the standard cab like mine it is very tight against the storage spot in the back so with the bolts on the front and that snug fit it isn't going anywhere. But you can't us the rear cup holder because of how tight it is. Also it didn't sit completely flush on the ground because of how tight it is on the back, but the seats cover that. 2000 Ford ranger with 1998 explorer console. Ask if you have any other questions.
I love the way that console looks, im planning on doing that to my truck. My question is.... do u have to remove anything off your dash in order to put the console in place??????
I did the exact same thing with my 99 ford ranger. U can paint the grey portion of that console to match your interior. @sweetprojectcars has some good videos on how to do that. Looks good tho!! 👍🏻👍🏻
@motoforlyfe hey man! Love the mod! I've got a 2005 Ford ranger that's also manual transmission. Do you believe this console will fit with my truck as well? I'm about to turn my 60/40 split into buckets. Also... what are the details on the console? Like year and model and such. Thanks!
I believe it will fit but I don't know for sure. As far as the year, I really couldn't tell you, I just know it was out of a second generation explorer. Good luck!

@@CM8Accordd I’m very interested in this as well
Awesome is did the same thing in my 98 ranger! Love the updated sun visors and center console.
What year did you pull the screens out of? I want to have the estimated mpg. Thanks I’m advance
I thought I was smart as shit doing this with my 5 speed ranger thanks for crushing my dreams
...how did he crush your dreams?

@@thatguywhocleansaquariums4839 lmao, now that’s funny.
Man, what a great idea! The search is on for an Explorer console!
Same here
The better looking she is the less of a pain to shift when she's riding in the middle! lol
That's a nice addition, it makes the Ranger look that much better.
Interior looks pretty good, even with the mismatched colors
I did this to my 99 ranger l also installed some leather buckets from a mountaineer they looks great! Same color and the holes in the seat match the holes in the door panel. The only mod I had to do is tuck the air bag off switch in behind the console.

This definitely gives me an idea and save money on how to do this for my Ford Ranger. Thank you for the video!!!!
I have the same one just in auto same trim package and all great truck hasn’t let me down

I use to put my little brother in that middle seat, yes it was very awkward trying shift gears 🤣🤣
Awesome mod. It fits like a glove!!!
I found a complete set-up from an Explorer Eddie Bauer edition and changed it out. Real fancy dual electric seats plus the center console.
Paul Archer you.have pics.our videos
Redline is a great company. They made me a really nice leather boot for my metro, since I was feeling bougie

Thanks for genius ideas man. I think I'll give this a shot for my ranger!
2000 ford explorer xlt is where you can find them. For only though for the full length ones

Gray looks neat with the tan
Nice job Bill - you've a place to store your beer and stand your glass lol.
Looks real clean

It was just as bad in my '96 F50 5-Speed!
Make an update video on interior!!
I wonder if i could put explorer seats in there too? Might find a heated one??? And mod it to fitt????
Where can you buy that console? It’s really nice
Do you think this would work for a regular cab?
How would this work if I had the manual transfer case shifter as well as my 5speed shifter
What’s the lift setup? And what tire size you running?
Would this possibly work for a 1996 ranger 5 speed xlt ext cab
That is BADASS. Wonder if it'll work on my 2004 XLT.
Awesome idea. I love it.
*plot twist. We were looking inside of an explorer the whole time
Do you recall the year explorer? I've a 04 ranger and want that same console.

what model is the console to install one in my 1999 Mazda B3000
I'll say it was AWKWARD!!☺

so u just cut the seat?
Anyone know how to adjust the steering wheel height of a 1997 Ranger? It pretty high and feels uncomfortable
So I have a 97 ranger, does the console have to be from a 97 explorer or same gen or does it not matter

What year explorer??
Ill trade you a tan center console for your grey one

Fuck yea thanks for the idea.
Is there enough clearance behind the front seat to make this work in a single cab ranger with the 60/40 seats?
Not sure, I think it would be very close.
Can the mod be done on a 2011 w/ side airbags?
Putrid186 I’m wondering the same
I love the way that console looks, im planning on doing that to my truck. My question is.... do u have to remove anything off your dash in order to put the console in place??????
It depends on the truck but on mine I had to remove the cup holder and original shifter boot, as well as the passenger airbag shutoff switch.
@@motoforlyfe i succesfully acomplish this mod.. it looks killer!
By any chance do u have the link for the company that u bought the shifter both from?????
So, how did you mount the shift boot? Did you just run screws through the boot into the mounting holes from the tray that was there?
www.redlinegoods.com/Explorer9501install.php
This is exactly what I need to do to my truck desperately.
Currently debating whether or not I should build a customer console...this makes me not want to.
Love the video, where did you find the explorer center console? I want to do the same in my Ranger
Pretty well any junkyard dude
i need to do this to my ranger
Nice mod! :) Jack
Naw u just gotta give warning when ur going in reverse like move ya knees 😂
Why would you put a switch pannel in the back???
+Ian Alderson the idea was that it would be clean looking and out of the way. I've since scrapped the idea though.
I’m glad I saw this video cause it looks nice as shit
Was there a way to connect that cigarette lighter to get current?
Yes, if you pull the console form a junkyard, you could get the connector for the lighter and then wire it into a 12v power source.
I did the exact same thing with my 99 ford ranger. U can paint the grey portion of that console to match your interior. @sweetprojectcars has some good videos on how to do that. Looks good tho!! 👍🏻👍🏻

Will this console mate up to a 1993-94 ranger dash? Has anyone tried?
Did in my 95
My 96 Explorer has a trip computer there  Mine is tan. Now I want to do a manual swap!

Just paint it? I dunno man I think it looks great
badass
We rolled three deep in a Manuel ranger all the time but 16-18 years old you don't really give a shit

It should, the explorers and rangers were all pretty much the same.
