I'm just a guy in Kansas playing around in his garage. Come along in my adventures riding, racing, modifying and repairing my small fleet of unusual misfits.
I really enjoyed the voice over...it was like watching the director's cut of a movie and listening to the director's commentary!
I am glad to see the Ranger is progressing. Nice new carpeting. I hope you kept the change.
A little trick I learned when laying new carpet in a vehicle is to let it sit out in the sun for an hour or two to warm up and get flexible. It makes the install a little easier.
VGG had a neat tip for doing carpets holes, mark the spot, hold a punch with pliers, blow torch the punch nice and hot, then push the punch through the carpet, it makes a more precise hole and seals the edges so they don't fray. I haven't tried his approach, but it looks great. What I have tried is Husky liners - and they are just as nice as Weathertech but less money. Ranger is looking much better and more livable Jake - keep on keepin on!
I think you've found a new format. Your instant comments are brilliant and your voice over afterwards seal the deal. This could be a new direction.
Totally agree! I liked this one a lot better because of it!
Jake, just wanted to say that I'm praying for you through the tough times you talked about in your last video. Stay strong, buddy. Love your videos, keep up the good work!
You’re like the opposite of Sarah-n-tuned’s Ranger build! Good job buddy
He could have loaned it as a parts truck, and when she returned it, it would be spotless (minus a few parts)
I can't believe you were touching all over that carpet without gloves on you absolute mad man.
I love this voice over. Just so enthusiastic!
Thanks for the video. Always fun to see what you’re up to.
Vinyl floor is 1000% better than carpet. Just vacuum, then wipe clean with a cloth and some mild soapy water. Easy care.
Enjoying having you around bud. Keep up the good work.
Thanks for making this vid, man. Definitely inspired me to get new carpet and floor mats for my '95 Thunderbird project.
Great job, Jake. The carpet looks terrific. You are right, the summer sun and heat will allow the carpet to sag into place. One thing I did learn is that Ford buckets from a Fox and the Ranger mount the same way as the front seats in my 1990 Volvo 240. Until I changed the driver's seat in the Volvo I had never seen seats where the rear mounting bolts to into the vertical face. Any I had dealt with had all the bolts in the horizontal face of the floor. I must start looking in to seeing what Ford bucket seats will fit in the Volvo. I can always create new bolt holes if need be. The front seats in the Volvo are not what they used to be after 32 years and 389,000 miles. I'm thinking the more plush bucket seats out of a Cougar or Grenada from 80 up may be the way to go. The European seats are a bit firm for a few thousand miles trips.
I wonder if anyone makes rubber flooring for cars that originally had carpet? It is nice to be able vacuum and sponge wash a floor from time to time. 😎
This reminds me of my late brother’s two grubby Rangers. 97 regular cab 2wd and ‘09 extended cab 4x4. They were filthy inside and out. Both V6 w/ automatic. After cleaning them up inside and out and oil changes, etc they sold for $3000 and $5000 respectively.
I see 100percentjake, I say yes.
Carpets are always a struggle but make such a huge difference! It's looking better every video! :)
I love that the audio just completely died and you went "fuck it, we'll do it live!".
Keep this in mind: no matter what questionable financial decisions you make, ALL OF YOUR CARS ARE MANUAL so your priorities are right
Except the Buick. But it’s supercharged so you still win
@@davariousparker7437 Buick's gone or going
Big improvement with the new carpet.
Very nice, that’s the exact same carpet kit I put in my ‘99 Ranger XLT. I’ve been very happy with it so far, but I had to tons & tons of trimming to get it to fit right though.
You could use a hairdryer when installing the carpet.
Also hot glue some Velcro to the bottom of those floor mats to stick to the new carpet. You can then have them stationary but able to remove them at will.
this voice over is pretty good.
My Ranger has plastic floors. I think they call it "Work spec".
I love the restrospective voiceover, it feels like a directors cut of your own RUclips video that we'll never get to see the other half of
The aftermarket cruise control & Foxbody seats 😂😂😂
Should of washed the floor with some kind of cleaner
How about the seatbelts too.
Voiceover Jake is saying what we're all thinking, how any of you guys touch anything in these old cars without gloving up first is beyond me. Always nice to see the truck taking another small step away from being a bio-hazard.
These videos make me miss my old Ranger. 10 years ago somebody decided to smash my back window for a pack of smokes (to each their own). Anyway, the replacement was super easy . I bought one from a junk yard and installed it with soapy water and yellow braided rope. Rest the rope in very soapy water for lubrication and wrap it around the replacement window. Have someone go inside while the other person is on the outside holding up and pushing the window towards the cab with one end of the rope sitting inside the cab. Interior person starts to pull the rope slightly and the seal will start to form around the inside. Watch a RUclips video before hand and you’ll see how easy it is. Best of luck and keep up the good work.
Happy plant residue ha ha ha 😂
As other have said the voice over is sheer perfection , Lugubrious seems appropriate
First thing i do when i get a new used car: Steam clean or swap seatbelts to new ones.
love these ranger videos i have a 99 XLT and i absolutely love seeing any video content on rangers keep up the great work !
I didn't recognize you without a soda in your hand. I got a chuckle out of the end of the JR video.
The mass backer is what makes it not fit very well. If you get it without it, those ACC carpets usually fit fairly well and there will be marks on the back side for all of the bolt holes.
I bought the same carpet from rock auto for my f150. I agree not contoured very well and spent an entire day trimming and fitting and cursing.
Looking so much better! If you don't mind losing a little visibility, flex tape may actually work well at sealing that window up. Or of it's going away anyways, just clear silicone it
Hahaha! Jake, I don't know why you don't have a bajillion subscribers. You are by far the most entertaining and funny of the Kansas you tube crew started by Hoovie.
Nice! Fixed both problems cheap and stank ass carpet. The voice over was unexpected, so, well, yeah hmmm! 🤣 Thanks for the comical videos!
The voiceover adds an extra demention of excitment!!! 👍👍
*I agree with @FarrellMcGovern, "Voiceover Jake" has the advantage of hindsight and is even more uplifting and encouraging and entertaining!*
My Ranger Edge ,(2005) had no carpet, even tho nicely appointed. Happy about my rubber floor about now
The voiceovers are always entertaining.
Love your videos and MEJ content on facebook!
I own a 97 Ranger it has the rubber mat floor the carpet would be a little quieter. The drivers door rattles just like yours and the sliding rear window (that I never use) did whistle but clear silicone fixed that . With 338,000 on the clock minor repairs are not a big thing.
The voiceover was great Jake!
when in doubt, check the mic connector out... lav mics, very much so wireless ones, are delicate... the copper is tiny..
Jake… even in the voice over you are hilarious
Ranger windows aren't hard. Clean the frame and cab real good with Acetone before you put the window sealer on. I think your year Ranger has like 10 bolts holding the window in place. Some of those are a pain to get to, unless you take out a lot of the plastic trim.
You could risk do more of that dubbed content, it was different and fun.
Well its a start, still have a ways to go if you want to be like sarah n tuned’s ranger
'It looks the only tools I need is this can of gasoline and this lighter'
'Happy plant residue' but it's more like crystals made in a 7•Up 2 liter bottle and mixed with lots of Sudafed.
Just a thought ... Bet a heat gun on a mid heat setting would help contouring the carpet .. of a day of summer heat would do the same ..
The voice over really adds to the video.
Jake voice overs just need to happen on every video!
Now you just need new seat belts, and it will be a vehicle I would consider putting my body in... Thanks for the vid!
“Let’s say erect??????” Lmao
What I find neat is how many parts in your 1995 Ranger are the same in my 2011.
The voice over was great.
Just got a 93 mazda b2300 for 300 dollars, last owner was a bad alcoholic and there is a mountain of beer cans and the beer soaked carpet smells worse than you think
Future Jake is the bomb - Present Nate
No more mold... except for the seatbelt that wraps around your body... 😯
So have you seen Sarah N Tuned's frame-off restoration of a 94 ranger? Yeah. I'm not that ambitious either.
Twisted Striker, there's a band name for ya.
Hi Jake. Great video man. Moldy carpet sucks, lol. I hope you’re doing well. 😎
I felt like I was watching masterpiece theater with the voiceover, lol
Bro, if those headphones sound like that, have a phone recording it all on the side too! then it's guaranteed good audio!
Epic voice over!!
A cool idea would be to fit some sort of center console, like a short version of a van console or maybe an old explorer. Custom might be a big undertaking but fun for us to watch! Does Josh (fractured rooster) still have that CNC machine?
Great video sir 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Good stuff man. ❤️
I think that my Ranger has been under water. Rust half way around the ring-gear. Those don't rust.
Jake I like this format. More self deprecation would be good.
What truck did you pull those seats from. They look like s10 seats.
The Jean-Luc Godard of Kansas.
ive lost alot of video from audio an other boobbos like recording in slo mo or timelaps when not mrnt to be lol it happens lol
where did you get your seats? and what size are they? mine are old and worn and im looking to replace them but cant find anything anywhere
Dude, First of all, the voice over is good enough. That Mic problem, I sometimes take a go pro with a wired mic and record it with the same video settings as the dedicated video camera. I then sync it with the other camera by wave form in the Video edit. A used gopro hero 3 is like $25 on ebay. Good luck with the audio problems. :-)
You are allowed to use an utility knife to cut out the old . Take 10 minutes to bleach out the floor.
My 93 need new everything. 6 grand later she's all new lol
Oh my life. Because 2:05 I laughed the whole way through the video. Thoughts of Sarah-N-Tuned. I'm so childish.
I like the voiceover!!!!!!
Are those the original seats? If not, from what make, model and year? Thanks in advance.
Where did you get those seats bro
A steamer will help that carpet lay down a bit.
I hope u get to keep the house
is it odd that im watching this video because when i was younger i owned a 94 ranger ...in dark plum...
Omg the voice over/commentary was hilarious, you're mic batteries should die more often!
Amazon has a charging case for the Wireless Go. Food for thought.
Regarding carpet and dodgy interiors, HAVE I GOT A CAUTIONARY TALE FOR YOUUUUU.
I bought a Fiesta once. It was an oddball three cylinder turbo. SFE. Reputed to have amazing fuel mileage. Had to drive a one way rental 300km to get it. Sight unseen basically. Got there and the owner was like "I think someone smoked in it but I febrezed it so it should be ok". Ffffffffff. Ok take the money and leave me with my car thanks. By then the rental was turned in and the place wasn't open. Key drop. No way home.
Drive back. Get sick from the smell being so bad. This interior was smoked in but something else absolutely reeked. The carpet itself was immaculate. Get home. Ozonate it three times at TWO HOURS a stretch. Doesn't even make a dent.
Have the whole interior steam cleaned. Doesn't make a dent.
Summer arrives. The smell makes it undrivable.
Order carpet. Carpet arrives.
Pull old carpet up. Immediately vomit. The entire floor up front is a quarter inch thick of congealed... Something. Looks like a mix of blood and human effluent. Just puked in my mouth thinking about it. Carpet is stuck to padding is stuck to floor. Remove center console to free carpet, now in a full respirator and double gloved.
Console comes up, it's so thick under there that I can't see the airbag module anymore. Parking brake won't fully drop.
Pull rear seats and more whatever that is is staring back at me.
Entire interior is now out, spend two days scrubbing and bleaching and hosing and even ozonating the bare interior. Replace cabin air filter too.
Install new carpet. Reinstall interior.
OK cool. Smells better.
Next hot day go to drive to the parks for a hike.
Get in. The smell is WORSE. HOWWWWWW.
Open trunk. Pull spare. Try to pull spare. Is stuck to spare tire well. More blood/effluent mix. Pry out. Fill well with water and bleach. Scrub with broom. Knock plugs out. Let it drain. Hose out again. Leave spare tire out forever.
OK we're good now right?
Next hot day, get in, turn AC on. IT'S COMING OUT OF THE VENTS NOW.
Give up.
Trade car in on a cloudy cold day. Found a rare as F ecoboost manual trans 2013 Fusion. Pay scarcity tax.
Leave Fiesta to curse that dealer lot. Six months on its still there. It's never leaving. I got that dealer as good as they got me. Pandemic markups make me feel not at all bad about it.
As near I can tell someone was offed in the car and thrown in the trunk. Perhaps left there. It's the only thing that makes even a modicum of sense.
And that, gentlemen, is why you NEVER buy a car from another city without scratching and sniffing first.
Never again.
Fusion is great by the way. A manual 1.6 ecoboost makes it a Fiesta ST with lumbar support.
That is an absolutely wild story. Probably best not to think too hard about what exactly was in that car
@@100PercentJake It's the only time in about 60 cars owned that I had to give up on.
And absolutely. Sometimes the less you think the less there is to keep you up at night.
Mythbusters did an episode about this. Selling a car somebody died and decomposed in.
loved the video. I noticed the goldwing in the background. Doing anything with that soon?
Coulda used the old carpet to soak up the antifreeze on the shed floor!
Absolutely 💯
The seatbelts look gross. Maybe you could clean it.
If you have happy plant residue in your truck you have probably already had your fingers in places you shouldn't have had them.
nice job
Cool video
Keep day by day there plz chin up nose over toes .👍
What seats are those?
Fox body mustang
Haha seatbelt priapism! Epic comment
